We have a dear friend in South Carolina, she has two young children. We've been in constant contact. Within 3 days, she got her FEMA voucher and was able to get the things she needed for her family. I can't speak for others, but as far as our friend, she's been very thankful for how fast she got help.

Listen to your WHOLE MVP statement. Even I as an Aussie understood that affected people will receive US$750 to meet IMMEDIATE needs with more $$$ following. And even I know how all government funds are appropriated and allocated in both our countries; taking money from one bucket to use without authorisation to fill another bucket is called misappropriation and carries a lifelong gaol/jail term punishment for public servants in my country. Plus there is plenty of evidence from people in authority of all political stripes that federal funding is being and has been already offered and accepted then flowing to state and local entities in USA. Had to explain that the 8 billion for Ukraine wasn't bundles of cash. It was missiles, ammunition, supplies, etc.

FEMA has been helping me since the Aug 8, 2023 fire wiped Lahaina, Maui off the map along with my home and business. Literally everybody got the $700 emergency funds immediately. After that it was slower because it was a crime scene/disaster and toxic waste site. Now I understand how complicated disater recovery is. FEMA is responding much faster after Helene than for us because we’re in the middle of nowhere and nobody saw this coming. They might be slow at first because they’re so big, but they have deep pockets and staying power. That’s so important because the crisis lasts for years. This guy was just mean spirited and wrong.

FYI, right now, money to repair your house or car is not the priority. You need food, water, fuel, short term shelter. Plus, without power or internet, stores open are running on generators - cash only. After Typhoon Mawar on Guam, FEMA was going door to door to make sure we were able to get any grants or loans we needed❤
