Love this and all of your reviews. Most photographers who really begin to push flash photography will tell you the worst place for a flash it directly over the lens. The miracle of the Godox system is the inexpensive X1 wireless trigger. It is amazing that the TT350 (for it's price) if fully integrated with TTL thru the X1. I have the X1/TT350 combo working flawlessly on my X-E3. Remote triggers used to require a PHD and a kings ransom; Godox changed all that.
Thanks for the tip. As I said, I asked them to send me the wireless trigger, so was disappointed when it wasn't in the kit.
To add to this, you can use the TT350 as a Master to control a TT 600 or the big strobes. The TT 350 on the Fuji camera can actually act like the trigger. And even better, it can TTL communicate with non-TTL speedlights as it's slaves.
Excellent review with pic examples of the effects of the different functions and features - that was missing in many of the other reviews. Liked!

I got one of these and the trigger. They have since released a firmware update that adds faster TTL sync options for a couple cameras, and Fuji has a firmware coming out which may improve that even more for the x100f. One cool thing is you can buy two of these and use one as a trigger. They are small and inexpensive enough that you could carry around a few for a light weight multi flash setup, or use this one to trigger one of their bigger units.

Recommend playing with manual mode if you haven’t already. Set the camera to auto exposure and try 1/8th power or so for a subject 5 feet away. Look at the result and adjust to taste. After all it’s digital; no processing cost 🤓 I predict using this method you’ll feel more in control of your pics after a period of trial and error

yeah thats right. Just imagine jazz concerts and the ttl exposure will differ if you just light one person standing all alone on the starge or if you light a group of people over the whole image.
If you are in a fixed distance from your subject, with digital it is so easy to find the right exposure. After this, no more fumbling, I guarantee :)

Thanks again for a great review after watching this I ordered 2 flashes and a flash trigger and 2 Godox LED video lights for my A6500. They arrived today and after a bit of testing i think this bit of kit is going to really help. The light plastic housing won't take much abuse but at this price just buy 2 📸😎.
I went with 2 flashes and the trigger when you mentioned they have a limited range so i can place the flash(s) near the subject and use the trigger.

Nice review, I like that you acknowledge that flashes are useful in good lighting and not just when it's dark. I had a TT350O for my M43 gear which I gave to my wife when I switched to Fuji, I've now got a TT350F in the post so I can regain the TTL functionality (the O version works with Fuji but only on manual mode). I picked up a cheap second hand transmitter the other day which will thankfully work with both flashes so I can have mulitple off camera flashes in use. The TT350 may not be the most powerful or robust flash, but it's compact size means I'm more likely to have it on me. The best flash you've got is the one you've got on you (to twist Chase Jarvis' words).

A useful review, we're learning along with you. I have a Fuji x10, yes, it's hardly up to date, and has a small sensor, but with a leaf shutter I can synch at high speeds and like you, I find it invaluable in bright light situations to soften shadows or fill in light in portraits taken against the sunlight.

Thanks for the excellent review. I believe 'Multi' mode is for producing stroboscopic flash, with flash repeating at frequency (set in Hz) rather than operation with multiple flashes 2:04
Thanks for the kind words - this flash doesn't have a strobe mode. It is designed for controlling multiple flashes. I'm trying to get them to send me the wireless trigger and a second unit to demonstrate/review that.
This flash does have a strobe mode, it's called "MULTI"! I suggest you learn your flash capabilities before posting a review. I understand that you are a flash newbie, so you are forgiven. ;) I love your camera reviews so keep up the good work!

The “multi” stands for stroboscopic flash and for eliminating dark areas in the picture while using high speed shutter,you should use HSS on your flash unit. And using HSS shortens your battery life not your flash life. And try to use manual mode on it , because it opens a whole new world for your photography.

Thanks, I appreciate your support - yes, currently cycling in Tuscany. The Fujifilm flash system is pretty generic in its implementation, I’m pretty confident that the X-S10 would be fine with the TT350F.

Timely review. Been looking for small & versatile flash for my X-Pro-2. Was all set to pull the trigger on a Nissin i40 or i60 until I saw this review. It caught my eye, especially as the Nissin's are 3 to 4 times more expensive than the Godox. Can you comment on the build quality? Would also like to see an update when/if you get a wireless remote to test. Getting the flash off-camera is when the real fun starts. (FYI, off-camera is when you'd see the reason and benefit of Manual mode)
So glad to hear you found it useful. It seems solid enough - have been dragging it around for nearly two months and it shows no signs of wear or tear. I hope to continue on my flash adventures soon, starting with off-camera - but another viewer noted that I seem to have misunderstood multi mode - so will have to attempt some strobe shots also.
It runs on an Atmel SoC and Texas Instrument's RF module, I find its reliability to be very good.

Try it for some macro work. With small subjects like insects, a flash lets you stop way down for better depth of field . But use a good diffuser and get the flash off the camera. A TTL coil cord should be available if you don't want to pop for the wireless remote.

Its nice it reminds me of yongnuo flashes only smaller,do you think there will be a lot of fiddling around since you want to get best results,by that I mean you wanna test out the look of no diffuser vs head on vs whatever you can do like the one you did?
It may vary depending on scene - but for one person portraits, I'd recommend ceiling bounce with the diffuser and flash compensation -3.

It struck me watching you video that in many situations where I have to lift the shadows in post, which isn’t ideal, I can avoid this post editing by using flash fill particularly on close shots with bright backgrounds. With modern mirrorless cameras that have a high dynamic range there is a tendency to always look for a solution to getting the best picture in post but using a flash gives you much better results in the original image. Thank you !!

If you buy both, you can use the other as slave. I can sync my TT350f in slave mode with my TT350s as master on my A6000 and vice versa with my X-T1.

Hi Marteen, great video. I don't have a flash yet but i want one. I like the TT350F or the V350F with lithium battery but with the X-T4 do you suggest a stronger flash like the godox V860II ? It is bigger in a bag of course and i dont know if the V350 will do the job distance wise. Thx
I'm sorry, I have no idea what your distance requirements are - if you need more firepower, get the larger unit.

The Fujinon 16-55 F2.8 bhpho.to/2ECT0GC. No one other than Canon makes lenses for their mirrorless cameras, and even their selection is tiny and poor quality to boot.

Thanks MH, just got the Sony version with transmitter and as you noted, the quality of images promptly improves. Photography really is all about light! Wish they had sent you the X1T, since I am having difficulties linking flash, camera and that unit.

Yea, it would be cool if you could get the transmitter, then you could use the handy flash, off-camera. The transmitter has a somewhat difficult learning curve, with time I think I would be an adequate operator. Your prompt response is appreciated MH.

Is it fully compatible with Fujifilm X100T? Is an extra remote control a must?
I haven't tested with that model, so can't confirm. I have no reason to suspect that it would not be. the remote control isn't a must - but could be useful to some.
Do you use the diffuser all the time?
Nearly, as it helps more than it hinders and removing it just makes one more thing to carry.
Approximately how long does one set of AA batteries lasts for this flash? If I have to keep on changing batteries more often, then Godox v860 II F with the lithium-ion battery will be a better option, right? But I really liked the size and flexibility of this product for its price. Please tell us about your experience with this product after using it for 2 years
I don't have a wide range of flashes to compare it to - in my mind, it is what it is, and I just deal with that. I always have extra batteries ready.

As I said, I'm a flash newbie, so really don't have recommendations for Nikon models - you might check the Godox website to see which models they have that would be compatible.
Hello again, I like to inform you, I brought Gotox 350N for D5500. It's very light in weight and easy to use. I saw tons of videos & most of them are showing Flash off the camera on stand etc. Just to ask you on which option you use flash outdoor's. I mean direct on subject or Bounce back card or defuser?. What power will idle in TTL mode. Thanks your good work. Regards

The LED light on flashes is not for shooting Video, I may give some light light but not enough. Its to highlight where the shadows will be when you use the flash 😊 BTW I have this flash which is the perfect size for my Sony a600. You can trigger the flash off camera with my sony using the pop up flash.

Hi Mr Maarten! Do you believe that this flash is good enough for professional use when in need or it is not reliable enough? Has a great price for what it is (even here)!
In my opinion, and I've continued to use it since the review, it's slightly flakey - I don't always get the results I want and end up taking multiple images to get the settings right. That might just be my lack of flash experience. In terms of its performance, as it only holds two batteries, you will be changing them fairly frequently. In terms of longevity, it seems to be well built and solid. I'd say that, considering the price, it's a good investment - but I would recommend adding the remote release which makes it more versatile. Hope this helps - always nice to chat with you.
So, most probably, "Godox V860IIF for Fujifilm " even pricier seems a much better choice... but for the price this seems to work ok. As always, thank you Mr Maarten, take care.

Nearly all external flashes could be good. For macro, it's often better to have an off-camera light which can come in at an angle to reveal detail. Mostly, I use a continuous light for macro work, as it makes it easier to see what I'm doing while I am setting up the shot.
I have 5 Godox strobes and none had a belt grip on the bag. Any suggestions?
A large backpack? A tireless assistant? Suitcase with wheels?
I am amazed that Fuji who has arguably has one of the best systems, certainly in the mirrorless arena and yet, they seemingly neglected to release an equally awesome, pro-level flash system to complement their cameras. Canon, Nikon etc... will release an updated or an all new flash for newly marketed cameras, not certain why Fuji did not with the X-Pro2 and XT-2.
Does the EXF 500 not meet your needs?
To be quite honest, I have not tried it and as I have recently begun making the move from Canon to Fuji, I was not fully up to speed on this system, perhaps I jumped the gun on this one. I will definitely give it a try and give my assessment later. Looks promising though.....

Please help, i am a newbie, with my fuji x-t10, and now i need a flash, but i don't know i can use hss (tt350F or tt685f) with this body? Speed sync with flash on x-t10 is 1/180, it is so slowly! Many thanks.
Any Fujifilm compatible flash (like this one) should work fine. The shutter speed may be slow, but it's the flash that freezes the action. However, this (or any) High-Speed Sync (HSS) flash unit can work with a faster shutter speed.

Hi there. Subscribed already. I need a help, Sir. :( I an new to speedlight photography and I bought this online. I was nade to believe that I can use it off csmera but it turbs out I cannot without a transmitter. Is that what's needed for me to be able to use it while it's connected to an umbrella? Thanks for the kind words and the subscription.That is not a feature I’ve tried - but I understand that’s possible, and a transmitter is the solution.
A flash unit set to Manual, can be used on virtually any camera, providing you have some manual flash skill set... Godox hasn't yet produced a transmitter for Pentax, so I use my Panasonic trigger with my Pentax DSLR in manual, and get great results!!!

Yes, you can trigger this flash in S1 mode using another flash of ANY kind.

Hello, I'm French, I bought a sony a6000 with its two basic lenses! (Starter pack). I would like to take portrait photos for my brand do you think the flash can help me a lot? I'm taking pictures in my house and it's kinda dark
If the situation is dark, then a flash will help, but it does take some practice to get the settings right and to find flattering angles with bounced light.

Yes, I think the difference is in the configuration of the contacts and support for the camera's settings.
Very interesting and informative video. The Fuji x forum advised me not to use auto iso when using flash, but perhaps with this flash it works OK.

Not sure when you'd use manual?? How about when taking a series of images where you want the exact same exposure? I would have thought that was blatantly obvious. Manual flash is no harder to figure out than manual camera settings.
Easy sailor, I said I was a newbie. The things that may be obvious and familiar to you are all new to me. I'm doing my best to expand my knowledge and learn.
Manual is used primarily when you need lighting ratios, i.e. the fill flash is 1/2 the power of the main flash. It is primarily used in studio set-ups.

Hello! Thank you for the video. Turn the flash to "M" mode and turn on the camera's "TTL-Lock" mode and you will have 14 frames per second with the flash. Don't forget to lower the flash power so that there are no skips
