What was the sports scene in 1960s San Diego? Former San Diego Charger and CBS 8 sports anchor Hank Bauer and photojournalist Bruce Patch dug up old film of the Chargers, the Gulls, the Padres, the Aztecs, the Rockets basketball team, golf, OTL, El Cajon Speedway, and Del Mar horse racing. It’s an amazing trip down memory lane. He interviewed sports columnist Nick Canepa who said it was the biggest sports decade in the history of the county by far because before that it was San Diego High School and that was it. Added recently digitized bonus film of Westgate Park in 1958, San Diego Stadium and Chargers interviews from 1966 and 1967.
