I grew up in a “we don’t celebrate Halloween” kind of family so every year around Halloween I would be in front of my tv waiting on Hocus Pocus and all of the Halloween town movies. Hocus pocus has always been one of my best favorite Halloween movies. ❤️❤️❤️❤️😌

This movie and Now and Then were my favorite movies as a child. Thora was in both. Love her.
OMG 😱 I totally agree! Now & Then is also one of my favorite favorite favorite movies (along with Hocus Pocus) from my growing up years. And they still are today, also the Sand Lot, Clueless, Cruel Intentions and Disturbing Behavior and The Faculty! Great Movies 🎥
Hocus Pocus captured the childlike magic of Halloween. It was exciting, heartwarming, a little campy, and just creepy enough without traumatizing a younger audience. It just had the right balance, which I think is why it has endured. Plus, it didn't suffer at all from Bette Midler's charisma.
I would argue that it was enhanced greatly by Bette Midler’s charisma.

Hocus Pocus became a classic became it's fun, funny, whimsical, magical, spooky, and musical. It has a bit of everything.
Hocus Pocus is definitely a product of it's time, the spirit of Halloween in the 1990's was one of it's strongest moments in time.

Thank you for Hocus Pocus! I am 36 and I can still specifically remember seeing it at the theater when it came out and being really bummed out cause I thought the movie was over after the kiln scene. I was so happy when they came back to life and it’s been off of my favorite movies since.

I’m 33 and Hocus Pocus has been my favorite movie since I was young! Still is. The first time I saw it was during a birthday party sleepover (on Halloween) when I was in first grade, and it was scary to a seven year old me! But I fell in love with he movie over the years.
Leonardo DiCaprio made a mistake. This film ended up being an epic Halloween movie.
Daniel Treadwell even if it hasn’t, there’s no denying that none of his films come close to being as legendary as Hocus Pocus
Negative, he made the right decision.

I’m guessing Leo turned down Hocus Pocus to play more lucrative roles. If that was the case they should have asked him to play Binx instead. It would have been less of a time commitment and he could have worked the voice roles around what ever other project he was on. I think he would have made a great Binx.

Born in 84', Hocus pocus is a MUST for me every Halloween. I've seen it hundreds of times and itll still make me stop in my tracks to watch it. Im both terrified and excited to see the next one. Happy Halloween!

I actually saw Hocus Pocus when I was super late since I wasn't a Disney Kid. I was 23 when I first saw it with an ex of mine, and while I can't explain why, it was a huge hit for me. It really made me feel like a kid again. Since then I watch it every year!

Honesty you can really see the Dark Elements in the original. This is why I loved it so much as a kid, including the musical parts. As much as I LOVE this movie, I sometimes wished while watching that they went more dark with it.
I agree. I like the fact that the Hocus Pocus 2 trailer indicates that the sequel is darker than the original.

My family will always watch Hocus Pocus it is Halloween to my family. I am 37 and watched this growing up! My daughter is 8 and we call it not just a movie but MOM ITS HALLOWEEN!! Thank you for the memories

Theres actually a book that serves as a sequel.
Kenny Ortega mentions that Max and Danni's house is in Marblehead, MA but it's actually on Ocean Ave. over in Salem. They did film in Marblehead but mostly in and around Salem Common.

It actually came out in the summer despite it's Halloween theam I remember it in the theater with a friend, I was about 9 or 10. It latter was shown on Disney Channel as a Halloween movie.

Disneys Halloween house, was the original title? They really have to put Disney in everything 😂 thank god they changed it so it’s even been made into phrases and people still quote it. The vibe of this movie is my favourite. It just feels so real like the town and everything. Just super cosy vibes it’s almost comforting. I watch it all the time still.
I have no doubt that the key to the movie’s enduring success was the director’s choreographic approach - and the casting.
