    Works great as a nootropic. Been taking 30 drops every morning (5 percent)for years and think clearly at work. Its like night and day. I have no health problems. I think seniors would greatly benefit from high dose iodine. Hopefully someone is researching this.

    Why are we assuming the Rda as optimal? David Brownstien thinks 150mcg iodine is 100x too low. I'm taking B at 500x the Rda, and it feels great.

    • @swintegrative
      @swintegrative  3 года назад

      Hi Omer, We assume (based on research studies and clinical observation) that more is not always better. Some people clearly need more than others, some don't need any, and some actually get worse from iodine. The RDA is not a huge consideration except as a starting place, as we assume that dose will not make people worse.

    • @flytacos
      @flytacos 3 года назад

      @@swintegrative I'd like you to prove your statement when you say "Some actaully get worse from Iodine." What is the research to back up that claim? I read the research you have provided in the description but it doesn't ever say people get worse from iodine. You might be scaring some people from taking iodine with that statement even though it appears (Prima Facie) completely false.

    • @swintegrative
      @swintegrative  3 года назад +1

      Hi FLY TACOS, thanks for your interest. I would not want to scare anyone just inform. You can look at some of the comments in this thread and see some people get worse. I have also personally seen patient's thyroid lab numbers get worse and this is clearly documented in the literature as well. That first article in the description clearly lays this out. It is called the Wolff-Chaikoff effect and was described in 1948 by Drs Jan Wolff and Israel Lyon Chaikoff. Check it out if you want the details.

    • @flytacos
      @flytacos 3 года назад

      @@swintegrative Thanks for the reply. However, in my opinion, you are contradicting yourself. You state that your motive is to 'just inform' but not to 'scare', but by giving inaccurate conclusion, you may be scaring people from taking Iodine when it can help them. So, i asked you to prove your statement when you say "Some actually get worse from Iodine.", because in my reading of the article you provided, it didn't make that statement. You made that statement. So i am plainly asking you to simply provide the documentation for examples of people getting worse from Iodine, because as i understand it, its an ESSENTIAL nutrient. Essential means necessary. So how can something that is necessary be harmful?
      Your thoughts?

    • @swintegrative
      @swintegrative  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I am happy to provide a lot more details on this. Which article did you end up checking out? I want to make sure we are looking at the same thing bc that article clearly describes "iodine induced hypo and hyperthyroidism". In no way do I think iodine is generally bad for thyroid or human health. It is more that some people are a little more fragile and it creates this problem. It is a small percentage of the population but that does not make the statement inaccurate.
      You only need to look in this thread and see that some people have worse thyroid function from iodine. Here is the article I was referencing www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3976240/
