I lived in New York City for many years and was surprised how few people gave their seat up for pregnant ladies or someone with a cast on their leg or some other infirmity. I remember one morning I was standing next to a pregnant lady and another standing young woman yelled out "Will someone please give this lady a seat!!!!"

I have always been treated well when I'm pregnant. Men especially give me their seats, rush to open doors, help me with my groceries especially when I have heavy items. And even when I've been out shopping with a baby or toddler, someone always helps. It's really lovely. I had to pull over because there was a problem with my son's car seat and a teenage boy stopped playing basketball to run over and ask, "excuse me ma'am are you alright? Is there anything I can do to help you?" I told him I was just fixing the seatbelt and he said ,"oh ok, I just wanted to make sure you were ok." It literally made me tear up. He was so earnest and sweet. I felt great the whole rest of the day.

It is a show of care, just like giving a seat to a kid, they don't need it, but you know they like to sit and you have sympathy for them. Women (i am a women too), we are very strong and capable and powerful, but if a man gives his seat, it should be seen as an act of kindness, we are biologically alittle bit less stronger than a man, and we also may be exhausted, or have our period, etc. A man who gives up his seat for a women is showing care and consideration for women. I went to New York not so long ago, and I rode subways. I saw a lot of teenagers, adults, sharing their seats to older people and some kids. I was so warmed. But this video reminded me of that. They are all so kind-hearted. Especially the old man. What a true gentlemen.

I was 16 when I had severe period pain and also had a rough day. An older gentleman in his 60s gave me a seat just looking at my face! I cannot tell you all how much I still bless that man, I really needed a seat that day ♥️ such people are the best ❤️

where i live all the youngsters in school are taught to offer seats to the very elderly and pregnant women on transport. its very stigmatized when we do not offer our seats to them so basically its a very common practice here. definitely has something to do with traditions passed down by our predecents

Turkey is an amazing, hospitable country! In London, first, on the seats closer to the door, TFL wrote on the seats reserved for pregnant women, mothers with infants and disabled people. That still didn't help, and people ignored pregnant women. Then the pregnant woman needed to wear a "baby on board" badge. When someone entered with that badge, people pretended they were sleeping or started reading the book/newspaper.
I've been a Londoner for decades. I can concur with your statement. I remember 30yrs ago(im old lul) before alot of immigration happened, there might have been more space on trains(not noticeable during rush hour) but it was the same then too. In Tokyo, only one person gave up their seat (in priority seating) for very pregnant me, and it was a woman who was going to get off at the next stop. People rarely will get up for pregnant or elderly people in Tokyo, even when the intercom is frequently blaring to give up priority seats to those in need. I gave up my seat (non-priority seat) the last time I was in Japan to an elderly woman, and she was so happy and thankful. I love Tokyo/Japan for many reasons, but the lack of compassion is one thing I don’t like.

In 2000 South Florida I was miserably pregnant and had to go to a lab for bloodwork. The wait was long (hours) and waiting room was full. I was so sick that day because I had to be fasting for the blood work and had to stand for a very long time. NOT ONE PERSON offered me a seat. I remember I was in tears because I felt so bad and no one even noticed..I ended up leaving because I couldn’t stand any longer…
Yup I had to go to the er while extremely pregnant not ONE man sitting there just there to accompany someone but not sick themselves, not one mother took their child onto their lap so I could have a seat. Finally a security guard brought me a wheelchair to sit in.

If you know a TV program from USA called "What Would You Do", there was an episode that truly moved me. There's a made-up situation in a restaurant, but all of the guests of the restaurant didn't know that. A waitress or a girl was being harrased by a guy (this was just an act, ofcourse). Many guests looked but didn't actually do anything. But this one guy, bravely interrupted and protected the girl aka an actor posing as a harrased girl. That one guy was a Kiwi. where i live all the youngsters in school are taught to offer seats to the very elderly and pregnant women on transport. its very stigmatized when we do not offer our seats to them so basically its a very common practice here. definitely has something to do with traditions passed down by our predecents

In London, first, on the seats closer to the door, TFL wrote on the seats reserved for pregnant women, mothers with infants and disabled people. That still didn't help, and people ignored pregnant women.
Then the pregnant woman needed to wear a "baby on board" badge. When someone entered with that badge, people pretended they were sleeping or started reading the book/newspaper.

In Tokyo, only one person gave up their seat (in priority seating) for very pregnant me, and it was a woman who was going to get off at the next stop. People rarely will get up for pregnant or elderly people in Tokyo, even when the intercom is frequently blaring to give up priority seats to those in need.
I gave up my seat (non-priority seat) the last time I was in Japan to an elderly woman, and she was so happy and thankful. I love Tokyo/Japan for many reasons, but the lack of compassion is one thing I don’t like.

In the United States an urban "street performer" threatens to stab you for not giving him food or money and the media glorifies him.
In 2000 South Florida I was miserably pregnant and had to go to a lab for bloodwork. The wait was long (hours) and waiting room was full. I was so sick that day because I had to be fasting for the blood work and had to stand for a very long time. NOT ONE PERSON offered me a seat. I remember I was in tears because I felt so bad and no one even noticed..I ended up leaving because I couldn’t stand any longer…
Some people don't care. Because their parents have not taught them how to behave. But the kindness in the video is what we are taught by our parents.
Yup I had to go to the er while extremely pregnant not ONE man sitting there just there to accompany someone but not sick themselves, not one mother took their child onto their lap so I could have a seat. Finally a security guard brought me a wheelchair to sit in.
Always ask for it. People Don't make space for me. I have spine injury. I request people and cab drivers many times a day. Ask for it if it's not given to you

If you know a TV program from USA called "What Would You Do", there was an episode that truly moved me. There's a made-up situation in a restaurant, but all of the guests of the restaurant didn't know that. A waitress or a girl was being harrased by a guy (this was just an act, ofcourse). Yes but actually he is not that old, he's just a very considerate polite gentleman, something more of this generation today should try to learn from... He is about middle age... or a little more... Lesson is Be kind

@@moticomoc006 I agree with you but as human beings we should always demonstrate our high standards which is being kind to one another even lower class animal are sometimes kind to one another! Well I have no problem given up my chair to anyone that I think I am in a better condition than (a pregnant woman and old or sick person either male or female)!

I also used to give away seats when I used to go to school but once this was used to fool me so I stopped. And now PPL look at me like I had killed her baby.
