  • Khanom Krok (or Kanom Krok) is a popular breakfast snack in Thailand. It is a sweet coconut pudding. My mum knows the recipe!
Khanom Krok is often referred to as coconut cakes or coconut & rice dumplings, or coconut pancakes.
Khanom Krok is a type of traditional Thai dessert that can be found as street food. There is evidence that Khanom Krok has been widely popular in Thailand since the Ayutthaya period.
The main ingredients for this Thai pudding are coconut milk, rice flour and sugar. The rich batter can also include tapioca flour, jasmine rice, and fresh grated coconut.
The batter is poured into a cast-iron griddle, often with 28 semi-spherical holes. The griddles are usually heated by charcoal or gas.
When served, the Khanom Krok are placed together to form a fully spherical shape. This Thai coconut pudding is fragrant and sweet with a smooth texture.
Thai people often eat Khanom Krok as a morning meal with coffee. This is real breakfast street food!
