I used to buy flares by the case. It really didn't have any impact on my gopher problem. What worked for me is injecting oxygen and accetylene into the hole and igniting it. That kills everything in the hole system for a 20 to 30 foot radius.look up a device called a Rodent Blaster. They are pricey, so I made my own. Really works well and destroys the holes so they are used by the next gopher.
Thank you. We have something that tunnels in the spring. Ate most of my crocus bulbs at least three times. I think I’ll try your method before I replant again.
BAD MISTAKE holding the gasser in your hand until it ignites. I put them in the hole immediately after lighting the fuse and then cover the hole with a plastic bucket. I've had one explode with enough force to blow a hole in the bottom of the bucket.
These “Gopher Gasers” from Home Depot are a RIP off! If you really want to get rid of gophers…. Use a road flare! They are the same price ,they are available at ANY auto parts store, they burn for 15-30 min (these gopher gassers burn smoke for less than one min, and the flare is burning phosphorus AND sulfur.
I am required by DOT to keep road flares on my truck. You're right. They burn much longer than the gopher gasser sticks. I will say that the standard gopher gasser may be more affective in newer shorter gopher tunnels. They will probably not be as affective in a well established, longer maze of tunnels. I also use my poison grain poke stick as an affective gopher elimination tool.
Yes. No more gophers in this end of the garden. But this is a new gopher area. On the other end of the garden next to the neighbors fence and irrigation ditch where the gophers have longer and more established tunnels, I use poison grain at fresh mounds for more affective results.
So many negative comments from frustrated people!
This method works for me.
Is not a magical solution but if you persevere you will find success.

How long do you think it takes for them to pass?

I had one explode in my hand as I was putting it in the hole. Luckily just a burn.
So good to know they do that. Thanks for caution warning
Use a leaf blower to get the am ke through the tunnel system
Thank you.
Did it work?
How long did you wait to tamp down soil afterwards?
Bopo
do NOT let this guy work with explosives!
Aura...mj
How do you know you got them?
They will come up out of ground & put a “you got me” sign across their chest as they lay dead

Do they work for moles too?
Doesn't kill them?
It does kill them. It releases sulfur gas.
did it work?

Use dry ice
A naive farmer who thinks he can kill a gopher like this.
So you’re here to criticize but not offer a solution or advice? What a gem.
@@tiasky3438 I know right. All that means is that he doesn’t know himself or he would have said something. He just wanted attention that’s all lol
Don’t thumbs up this guy. He offered nothing in a solution…
