If you’re going to New Orleans first time, go for Jazz Fest. Last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. It’s got Mardi Gras beat hands down. Good weather, great food awesome music.
I love seeing this view of my hometown! Always fun to be had and new places to explore. I grew up here and have lived other places after college and with my career, but there's no place like home!
Yeah I was waiting for this to get out of the Quarter! The closest I saw was Armstrong Park, but that doesn't count LOOOL. Otherwise it was a cute vid. .....
My husband and I just returned from NO last week...and had so much fun! The scene is lively, the people are genuinely nice, and there's so much to do. We look forward to going back soon! (Btw...we're still trying to figure out why no pics can be taken in souvenir shops ❗).
Vicky FlipFlop Oh, so that's why you made that face & the camera quickly went off. Now we know the truth.. seriously though, what's the point of going if you aren't going to try the spiciest one there?
Vicky FlipFlop I survived the Pepper Palace easily. Walked at least an hour before getting anything to eat or drink. I was very dissapointed in the food there. The only 2 standouts were the pecan crusted duck at Pat O'Briens.. & the Eggs Cachon at the Ruby Slipper. Oysters had shell bits, the other food wasn't that good & it was crowded as the dickens. May go back someday to try it differently.
The street musicians are located on Royal street between St Peter and St Louis in the quarter between 11-4 on weekdays and 11-7 on weekends. Bourbon street is the place to drink big assed beers and be a drunk tourist. The sit down jazz clubs are all over New Orleans but are most heavily concentrated on Frenchman street just outside the quarter and most don't require a cover charge. Bring lots of cash for tip money. Some bars take cash only. Put your wallets in a front pocket so you don't get picked, lol. Check out wwoz.org for a complete listing of bands and venues and support live music!!
Ah yay! Beautiful time to visit : ) I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Here are a few foodie recommendations to try out... vickyflipfloptravels.com/favourite-food-experiences-new-orleans/
One can spend time in the elegant and genteel Davenport Room on the 3rd floor at the Ritz Carlton on Canal street for nothing. No cover, and most evenings they have live jazz. You don't even have to wear a jacket and tie to just walk in wearing sweats and sneakers, and get treated with respect just the same. It's a bit pricey, but so what. The service is impeccable, and the food eye appealing and delicious. One evening I walked in late dressed as such to catch a ballgame on the telly, didn't order a thing, and was offered ice water on a silver platter and left to myself.. Class place.. but then again, it IS The Ritz..!
Gah! You missed City Park (and the worlds largest collection of live oaks), the Sculpture Garden (which is also in City Park), visiting Audubon Park (the labyrinth there, say hi to the giraffes over the fence, go for a walk or jog on the track) shopping on Magazine Street, free music in almost any bar (usually for a one drink minimum), bluegrass night at the HiHo lounge, tour the Historic New Orleans Collection, The Pharmacy Museum, etc etc
Yea you can people watch from a balcony I guess for less than 5$ but the hotel it's attached to charges 350 a night I was there yesterday probably be there tomorrow
Omg thanks for the tips am going on April can’t wait and lol the face you made on the video are so cute . Am traveling alone any places you think I should avoid? Thanks in advance .
My a I suggest one great go to the North Shore and ride the world's longest bridge my bad the country's longest bridge Lake Pontchartrain Causeway 25 miles of just water the toll to get across the $5
Just this past year my husband and I went there. We are going again this year and can't wait. Just a word to the wise. Watch out for the bums down there they are for the most part scammers and will try anything for your money.
Hello, oh I'm sorry you had a bad experience there. I felt perfectly safe and didn't have a problem though, but yes, New Orleans is known for being quite dangerous. My hotels advised me not to go out alone at night.
Don't get me wrong I loved it there. It was just the bums that were a little annoying. I can't wait to go again, just bought the airline tickets today.
Adam Broussard When most people travel to New Orleans their intentions are usually to see things in the French Quarter- me included. So this video was helpful.

Lived in New Orleans for several years...loved your video...no talking...let the scenes speak for themselves. Really nice.
I love seeing this view of my hometown! Always fun to be had and new places to explore. I grew up here and have lived other places after college and with my career, but there's no place like home!
Useful vid to send my friends when preparing to visit me here! I'd add "Tip a musician!" as a thing to do 🤗
Thanks for the video, I’m heading to the Jazz Fest, these tips will come in handy.
Whoa, whoa, whoa! Algiers Ferry $4 round trip. Come on over and see our historic neighborhood. And check out the view from the levee.
Ah I really wanted to do that but just ran out of time. SO MUCH to do in NOLA :)
Tip;you can rent a bike on lower Decatur and ride the levee. I moved here a year after my first visit.
Yeah I was waiting for this to get out of the Quarter! The closest I saw was Armstrong Park, but that doesn't count LOOOL. Otherwise it was a cute vid. .....
Do what!! When I lived there (in the Sixties and Seventies) the ferries were free-- Algiers and Jackson Avenue. What happened?
Since when did they start charging for the ferry..? I used to ride it over for nothing just to be on the water in 2013.
Looks like a city with soooo much character. Can't wait to visit one day (and do it cheaply!!)
+WanderlustChloe Hit me up for more tips when you do. Love this place :)
+Vicky FlipFlop i live here
Awesome! Cool city to call home :)
Stay at a hostel if you can.
Hi...I'm visiting New Orleans in June. Where are the best places to eat and party at night?
That's IT! You captured the essential New Orleans, Vicky! Merci!
Ah I'm so glad you think so Ed. Thanks for watching!
Great video, I like how you make the sights and sounds 'SPEAK' for themselves

Did you ride the streetcars? I go in May .
Been researching what to do when I go in March or April. All looked fun, but the Pepper Palace looked awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Ah glad the video helped :) The Pepper Palace is fun - make sure you sign the disclaimer and go for the spiciest one. Just for the thrill.
Vicky FlipFlop Oh, so that's why you made that face & the camera quickly went off. Now we know the truth.. seriously though, what's the point of going if you aren't going to try the spiciest one there?
Exactly!

Great video, lots of comedy moments and well edited together. Gives a great feel for the place

D. Payne how was it? Any other ideas to share from your experience?
Hope you had good luck finding a parking spot in the Vieux Carre.
Great Video. Thank you for posting.
normally I dont like videos in which nothing is spoken, but I really loved this video and watched it several times. Thanka
Thank you - that's great to hear! I agree with that - I think the sounds of New Orleans provide the perfect sound track here though :)

I hate mufallatas but I love having my lunch on the river whenever I can. Of course, I am on the other side so my view is awesome.
Oh wow, must be incredible! I loved that sandwich!
There is something about the oil. The flavors are good, but the oil coats my tongue. But I adore eating lunch at the river.
What are the best months to visit Nola after Mardi gras?

Magdalena Jones booooo
Honestly you had some great suggestions!

I thought it was the world's longest bridge over water.
No way in hell would I drive over that LOL I have a hard enough time with the 5 mile Bay Bridge in Maryland. LOL
Just this past year my husband and I went there. We are going again this year and can't wait. Just a word to the wise. Watch out for the bums down there they are for the most part scammers and will try anything for your money.

Vicky FlipFlop Fav place to hang out is the Riverwalk Mall. I can use the Wi-Fi and eat upstairs at the Food Court or snack on stuff from Its Sugar. 😄
Maybe more appropriately named "Things To Do In The French Quarter"
I went to the Blind Pelican, and Louis Armstrong Park :) What else would you suggest? Open to ideas!

Hailey L I wasn't trying to be negative with my comment but now that I'm reading it, I notice it seems quite negative. My apologies for any bad vibes.
Thanks Hailey :)
No worries Adam! If there's anything you think I've missed that would be good to include, just let me know! :)
Couldn't hardly see the thin white fonts against a white or bright background. Duh

Oh dear, I thought the sound was ok on this one. I know I've had trouble getting it right on some of the others.
New Orleans is great...but the Quarter is highly overrated...filthy dirty and dangerous at night...
