Thanks for this video Ray. Ill be drilling a new barrel for front sight pins this weekend and your videos have given me the confidence to attempt the job.
I liked seeing the tools used for this job It's been many years since I have shot an M16... I passed up some good deals in the early 80's to buy a civilian version
I was a 45Bravo for fourteen years. I never used a torque wrench. You know if it too little or too much by feel. To check gas tube alignment put the tube through the barrel nut and receiver. It should move the same amount from side to side. The front sight pins are tapered and only go in one way. It sucks having to install one that is not pre drilled.
Hi Ray, one time I saw in a documentary that during earlier production, this job was made by a special tool that drilled and pushed the pin in the same time. So during mass production it was possible that some M16 had the front sight out of alignment. Just one of the hundred of mistakes made from money hungry government suppliers over the skin of soldiers.
Nice video Ray. I'm here in Käliforniastan too. I am just trying to start up a RUclips channel about making muzzle brakes. I'm really liking your channel. Thanks Mike
Hi Mike, Thanks man, Looking forward to your muzzle break video's! It's always great to connect with other firearm enthusiasts working under such strick gun laws. Keep it up bud! Ray
Thanks man! The kit came from What A Country, it was a little pricy but worth it! This kit is in much better condition than the one from Centerfire Systems! Ray
@@RaysGarage doin the same thing. Putting a front sight on a barrel. There’s a shop in town that will charge about 60$ to do this. I had a kidney transplant 3 weeks ago and I’m tryin to save money but I’m at home looking at all my little projects and it’s killing me. Lol
I wish you a speedy recovery! To do this right you need the tapered reamer from Brownells and a very sharp eye to get it perfectly straight! $60 sounds fair to me only if he is a good gunsmith, one wrong move and your $250 barrel could be ruined! Check out how i installed this front sight post, ruclips.net/video/NbIXoQ92lgY/видео.html

I have been seeing a lot of these kits on the market, most are in bad shape so when you find a good one grab it! Fun and easy build!
Thanks,
Ray

Yeah this is a tough state live in. What part of the state are you in. I'm up by Stockton.

Looks like this is going to be another great build. Where did you find your parts kit?
Thanks man!
