I find it kinda interesting that @ 5:18 James suddenly starts sounding just like himself from like 10 years before, as that part of this song is definitely supposed to embody what he refers to as "The Other Guy", in other words his old tough guy persona.
It hurts seeing people throw stuff at rob, especially because they haven't taken the time to realize that Rob is a really good bassist, his audition was confident and he plays everything g with fingers only, even battery, BATTERY!!!
Most complaints were from the production side turning Metallica into a Motly Crue and then Alice in Chains/Pearl Jam wannabe band. Granted I don't think everything on the self titled nor the loads was necessarily bad I genuinely like some songs on those albums, but they were no longer a metal band at that point and people don't like that.
@@jondoe-nc9qo If they don't like that, then they can leave, or not even buy tickets to a concert. Throwing garbage at someone is outright disrespectful.
Mistah J! Some of these songs are really good without the trash snare, that's why it's interesting to see them live. But that doesn't make it good songs in their album versions
yeah, and specially to a band like this one, which is a historic reference in rock music... can't understand... maybe beer wasn't cool enough.... stupid bastards
I think it means a lot to all of them. The making of that album was a really tough process for them and that's also shown perfectly in the Some Kind Of Monster documentary. I highly recommend checking that out sometime.
Shoot me again, Sweet Amber, Unnamed Feeling, St Anger, all awesome songs on St. Anger album. I always wondered how raw and tight at the same time, the album would have sounded if it was properly produced. And not exactly like Death Magnetic production, but more like "Beyond Magnetic EP" production.
Yeah. I wonder the same thing too sometimes. I like most of the songs on St. Anger, but I just cannot get into the production on it. Not just the tin can snare drum sound but the overall sound of it. I especially hate how thin James' guitar sounds when it's the only one in the mix.
jon doe the reason why production is bad because metalica Really wanted to make there own album not the same thing just like black sabbath I think the production for sabbath bloody sabbath is bad but I still like a few songs from it And justice for all is the best reason why that has the best guitar tone I ever heard and that album barely has bass I think St anger and a world needs a hero is the last unique guitar tones ever made the rest beyond the 2000s sounds the same thing because they won’t let guitarists make there own tone anymore it’s all done by the mixers which is why it takes longer to make albums also Metalica and the rest of the bands are limited as hell thanks to the internet becoming the most popular thing in 2010s

Yeah with the studio recordings for the chorus where he has to sing one octave above the main vocal track and the numerous vocal harmonies in the verses
Hearing them play St. Anger songs live, it's obvious that the songs were (mostly) good, it was just their odd choice of recording style (and loose snare drum), that held the music back.

Ralph Papaleo of course that is personal preference and I respect that. My input on the the issue is that the sound of the attack is cool, the beginning of the ring is cool but it rings too long, long enough for the eighth-notes to bleed together and sound like mush.

Jimmy Olden Well, in Guitar Hero: Metallica they choose some songs of bands that inspired them, and they put Toxicity by SOAD. In fact, the chord progression in Toxicity is a little bit like the one in The Unnamed Feeling.

Most people don't like the album becuase what it was based on but it is how most people FEEL in their lives. We get the Unnamed Feeling sometimes and feel like we need to be Purified adn occasionally we feel like we have All Within our Hands. I think Slayer is having a harder time since they lost their best guitarist Jeff... anyway i heard that metallica is back in the studio making another album.. cant wait.
Honestly they're just not very good live songs. I like many songs off of St. Anger, but live not so much. Something about the arrangement of songs like St. Anger, Some Kind of Monster, and Frantic, which all have very powerful intros but then the verses fall a bit flat. I think that's a theme with the whole album actually, that the verses in all of the songs aren't that strong compared to their previous albums. They sort of lose a lot of momentum, especially live. I think St. Anger is more of a listeners album.
Ekir El-Wenz I think the hardcore metallica fans don't care which album they play. But the "fans" who go to metallica shows are just people who just listen the four first albums( because they are great and easy to listen) the others albums they can't listen because it's to difficult.
