I originally came from Sussex, Brighton way but I came up here in 2003 with my fella who came from the Bully. I've lived in my little flat for 18 years now. My fella died just before Christmas but I have no intention of leaving Liverpool. I'm 54, I have never lived in any one property nearly as long as here. This is home. I know that this is a "deprived" area but when it became clear that my fella was terminal we got so much support and I still do. He was well known round here, I think it had a lot to do with the 2 Kerry Blue Terriers we had for years. They are both gone now but I have a different one. If it wasn't for her and my family up here, well... I used to score on the Grizy. That was a long time ago. Doing my best to hold it together. Just been made redundant and I'm on the lookout for another job. If you know anyone who wants to employ a middle aged, menopausal, violet haired, recovering tryer let me know please. A was down anfield few weeks ago, was blessed to spend a few days. What a place I was blown away with the recovery community and the community in a hole had my brekkie in the community cafe every one I can across couldn't have been any nicer loved it. I am from Glasgow. Keep shinning Billy ❤❤
I walked through an estate after coming out of anfield stadium one Saturday evening not sure what it was called but we were a bit lost looking for a bus stop into the city centre but as rough as it seemed the young lads on push bikes still went out of their way to direct us I found the people in Liverpool to be very nice people although I’m sure it has its different side their still better than cockneys ten times over 😂

Where you started on mere lane, we used to mind the cars there on footy days ,go and get a chppy meal.with the money,,proper treat as we never had much,i was the youngest of ten, that was over 50 years ago,.We lived in middle of monks Street bit further up all gone now ,I went to St George's school at the top,belter memories.,Families lived close to each other back then but they knocked all the houses down split all the families up ,proper miss those days ..Frank Green ,a liverpool painter was always around doing paintings of the area,buildings ..memories man .Nice one..

My uncle Alfie and Joe Cochrane both lived on the Grizedale and Stonehill Anfield. I remember visiting them as a kid in the early 90s with my nan. Good memories
I got to be really honest it’s like mansions compared to areas in the Welsh valleys. I’m not saying about the crime rate, but the housing, in places like Penywaun Aberdare, Gurnos Merthyr, Abertillery that’s rundown and crime ridden areas perhaps not like the Anfield estate, but it’s the housing it’s like time forgot, all former post industrial towns and villages ravaged by drugs now. Although it’s great what your doing GodBless you with the good work.

Hi Billy, I've been watching your vids for about a week now. The parallels of our paths is very similar though I've never met ya. Bad upbringing, care, borstal, prison, drugs, keeping bad company. It defines you. It's almost like you have to become someone else to change. I'm 62 now. I use a bit of cannabis but that's about it. I even managed to stop drinking about 10 years ago, went back into education after leaving school with nothing and got a BA. Ended up being a social worker for a bit but it wasn't really me. I have no idea how I got where I am now (I'm anything but what I was) No help or support from anyone. It's so hard to change bad habits. I'm not religious but I'm beginning to believe God has a plan for us and you are an example of that sentiment. What you're doing just blows my mind. For me it's all about keeping it together, earning enough to pay the bills etc. For you, it's all about selflessness. The way you genuinely look out for these people of no privilege is truly inspirational.

Them footballers drive right out the anfield gate in there Bentley's away from all the rundown estates. The area could be so much better if Fans would actually made this clear to LFC before splashing out on there so called supported team. Only one getting supported is the team's pocket. City really needs to think about where help is needed.

Lived just down the road on the Pythian estate and used to go to Karate/boxing in the red triangle. Hung around on the Radcliffe estate as well. Never thought they were bad. Happy days no knives or guns back then everyone just fought with their fists.

For some reason the streets in The Grizedale are named after towns in Cumbria. Maryport (Close)is where I am from originally a grim little town on the west coast.
Its recently had new housing added Billy! the local tenements Tommy white gardens were demolished in the 80s! the area is much improved ! the tenements and multi storey flats are all demolished now! its the Everton area of the city not Anfield! much better now than when the Radcliffe estate was still up and the notorious piggeries flats! Canterbury,. Haigh and crosbie heights worst flats that ever existed in Liverpool! four squares just around the corner etc

Council flatten good houses, the houses were decent people lived and knew each other and build these little estates and these turn into ghettos in time! Mere Lane was my birth place were I spent my early childhood growning up....Monk Street gone and the surrounding gone....so sad.
Knew a kid that nearly got taxed on the dale scoring some brown to take back up North girl got in the back of the car with a shooter and demanded the money she was about 15 year old apparently..when the kid driving the car pulled a bigger gun that was actually loaded and told her if she didn’t get out the car shell never be seen again..Her response was I was only missing La got out the car like it was nothing the lads never been back to Liverpool again 😀
To be honest billy, you cant put all the blame on the gov, these estates are owned by private landlords or housing associations, nothing to do with councils or the gov, the gov do provide funding to areas that these estates are within, but that funding is just for services or land surrounding the estate, like parks and green spaces, like all estates in England have trouble, but what causes that trouble, youths who are fed up, so they decide on a self destructive path, They choose to destroy stuff, why don't they choose to help build stuff, improve the areas that they live in, is it because they don't have any faith in them selves, or they do it so they will look like they are in control of the estate they live, I'm sorry, but racing around an estate on a Surron and selling bags is not the way to go forward, they will only see a few outcomes, Hospital, Jail, Death

Its 2023 now dont know about Dublin but Liverpool got loads of European funding in the 80s and 90s which they used to knock down the high rise flats and terrible housing estates etc which makes the city look decent now! but theres still pockets of misery here and there!

Its recently had new housing added Billy! the local tenements Tommy white gardens were demolished in the 80s! the area is much improved ! the tenements and multi storey flats are all demolished now! its the Everton area of the city not Anfield! much better now than when the Radcliffe estate was still up and the notorious piggeries flats! Canterbury,. Haigh and crosbie heights worst flats that ever existed in Liverpool! four squares just around the corner etc

Council flatten good houses, the houses were decent people lived and knew each other and build these little estates and these turn into ghettos in time! Mere Lane was my birth place were I spent my early childhood growning up....Monk Street gone and the surrounding gone....so sad.
Knew a kid that nearly got taxed on the dale scoring some brown to take back up North girl got in the back of the car with a shooter and demanded the money she was about 15 year old apparently..when the kid driving the car pulled a bigger gun that was actually loaded and told her if she didn’t get out the car shell never be seen again..Her response was I was only missing La got out the car like it was nothing the lads never been back to Liverpool again 😀

To be honest billy, you cant put all the blame on the gov, these estates are owned by private landlords or housing associations, nothing to do with councils or the gov, the gov do provide funding to areas that these estates are within, but that funding is just for services or land surrounding the estate, like parks and green spaces, like all estates in England have trouble, but what causes that trouble, youths who are fed up, so they decide on a self destructive path, They choose to destroy stuff, why don't they choose to help build stuff, improve the areas that they live in, is it because they don't have any faith in them selves, or they do it so they will look like they are in control of the estate they live, I'm sorry, but racing around an estate on a Surron and selling bags is not the way to go forward, they will only see a few outcomes, Hospital, Jail, Death

Its 2023 now dont know about Dublin but Liverpool got loads of European funding in the 80s and 90s which they used to knock down the high rise flats and terrible housing estates etc which makes the city look decent now! but theres still pockets of misery here and there!
