Hallelujah - Lucy Thomas - (Official Music Video) You will be amazed like all the other reactors..
if you havent checked out Tommy Johansson yet, the lead guitarrist in Sabaton, i can recomend you watch for example una canzone damore or maybe his version of phantom of the opera :) he releases a cover every friday on his channel :)
There's a band I think you may like
If I remember here, they came out in the late 80s early 90s give or take.
The band is called trixter and the song you should check out is one in a million. This band really cool and so is there songs. Also I'm hoping you're having a wonderful weekend as well
There is one Mistake they made with this Video.
In Germany (and most countries) ALL SHIPS ARE FEMALE.
No matter what their name, it is DIE BISMARCK, and NOT der.
So the Lyrics should be SHE and NOT he.
You really need to react to Tommy Johansson the guitarist of sabaton he can sing like an angel start with you raise me up or phantom of the opera. He will blow ur mind please
The old man piloting the boat is the real-life son of the young German sailor. He was the last survivor of the sinking. The pocket compass - with the coordinates of the wreck etched inside - was given to his dad by the Captain Lindemann as he lay dying in the bridge. All of the medals and Bismarck certificates you saw on the wall in the opening scene belonged to the older guy's father.
Damn that's cool
fun fact about Lindemann: when the british opened fire admiral Lütjens ordered to hold fire but after a couple salvos Lütjens said , quote, "ich lass mir doch nicht mein schiff von den briten unter dem arsch weg schießen!" (I'm not going to let the British shoot away my ship underneath my ass)
@nero756 Both were weren't wrong in their orders Lindemans orders were "DO NOT ENGAGE THE BRITISH UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES"
Lütjens as you stated also understood the situation and took action.
@@samuel10125 Lutjens took no action at the Denmark Straits, it was Lindemann who acted as the original poster stated.
He is wrong about that watch though. Nobody really knows how Lindemann died. Some say he was last seen holding onto the Jack Staff on the front of the ship (impossible), it had been removed at the outset of the operation, others claim he ended up in the water.
One thing's for sure, nobody on the front half of the ship survived the sinking, so how a watch could have been on the bridge and not went down with the ship is a bit of a mystery.
Almost all Sabaton songs are a history lesson in themselves.
As are their collaborations such as Pasadena 1994
I love their history Channel! They do little documentaries on all the topics they talk about in their songs
"History lesson and awesome music at the same time" does sum up their work. Love it!
And….I really can not deny that.
Huh, who knew?
@Kent K - they are. You have to listen to their own "History channel" and why they are making those videos or writing songs like that.
The "Bismarck" , and his sister ship "Tirpitz", were the 2 largest battleships ever built in Europe (250 meters long, 36 meters wide, and displacing more than 50.000 tones) and they were the pride of the kriegsmarine (Germany's militari navy) during ww2. The "Bismarck" set sail in May 1941 to reach the Atlantic and destroy merchant convoys, but he was intercepted by the British and during a brief fight, destroyed the former flagship of the British fleet and pride of the Royal Navy, the worldwide famous battlecruiser "Hood", by penetrating her armor and detonating her aft main ammunition magazine and killing all 1400 members of her crew except for 3 men, and heavily damaged the battleship "Prince of Wales". This enraged the prime minister Winston Churcil who ordered all his ships in the Atlantic to abandon their operations and destroy the Bismarck. In total more than 40 ships participated to the hunt, making it the biggest naval hunt in history. Meanwhile Bismarck, who had received a hit during the first battle, was leaking fuel and was trying to reach the French port of Saint Nazaire, in occupied France, for repair. After 3 days of playing cat and mouse with the British, Bismarck was attacked by airplanes launched from the aircraft carrier "Ark Royal" and hit by a torpedo in the stern, which jammed his rudders during evasive manuvers, meaning that he was forced to sail in circles, just a few miles away from reaching air cover. In the end battleships "King George V" and "Rodney", along side the heavy cruisers "Norfolk" and "Dorsedshire" fought the already doomed battleship and, during the following 90 minutes completely destroyed it. However, despite having all his guns destroyed, and having received more than 400 hits (out of the 2800 shells that the British had fired at it) his armor was still mostly intact and the ship was still afloat. So the british launched another 4 torpedoes and he disappeared beneath the waves. After inspection of the wreck however it had been discovered that the torpedoes did no significant damage thanks to the battleship's extensive underwater protection, and that Bismarck had probably been scuttled by his crew (although it should be noted that many historians believe that it would have eventually sunk due to the damage received). Of the 2200 men that served on it only 114 survived
Okay…but now that she’s going down this rabbit hole, we need her to see Tommy Johansson’s cover of Phantom of the Opera.
Still concur 😂
I concur
Maggie, one of the guitarists in this band is Tommy Johansson who possesses an amazing voice, but doesn't normally sing in Sabaton.
You should check out his 'One Octave Challenge' which I think you would enjoy.
Sabaton's music usually details historical military operations.
The loss of the Bismarck resulted in the death of nearly 3,000 sailors.
Congratulations on your recent operatic achievements !!
👏👏👏👏😊🤗❤
Yes agreeing! Tommy Johansson is amazing 😁
I concur
She should listen to 'Alone' with Tommy. In that song he is better than Floor...
Absolutely concur tommy Johansson you tube channel is very worth checking out. He does all of the music on his yt and has one of the best metal tenor voices I've heard.
I was about to suggest Tommy too. So many good songs to choose from there
As an ex-navy engineer and a person who grew up on islands and lightstations, it always breaks my heart to see a ship destroyed, no matter whose side was using her.
And the Bismark was one of the best to ever be built. And it took an appropriate amount to take her down.
I've understood there was like 1/3 of whole Royal Navy in the final hunt.
@@JariJuslin The Bismarck did sink the HMS Hood, greatest pride of the royal Navy, so very understandable that they could not leave this unchallenged.
The Bismarck was a gorgeous ship too, I understand why her sinking was needed but dang do i wish she hadn’t been sunk
@@wonkeyogreogre4004 The stories are that the british soldiers were also sad when it sank. They were shooting at it for hours and hitting it with torpedos again and again and it would not go down.. while still shooting even from now immovable cannons. In the end the highest ranking officer left opened the shots(?) letting the water in to finally let it sink.
Sabaton Christmas Truce is a gorgeous piece that should be on any Christmas playlist. And is historical about the 1914 Christmas Truce in WW1.
Interestingly sabaton wasn't the first to pen a historical song about the Bismarck. Johnny Horton did back in 1960
In May of 1941, The War had just begun!
And let's just add their Christmas Truce video is an absolute masterpiece, and you get Floor Jansen vocals.
@@hellhoundactual8201 The year was 1941, the war had just begun. The Germans had the biggest ships, they had the biggest guns. The Bismarck was the biggest ship, to ever sail the seas, with her decks and guns as big as steers, and shells as big as trees.
She reacted to it already. A year ago :D
Two historical notes: 1) some of the lyrics are the (translated) quotes from Otto von Bismarck, the German leader for whom the ship was named. 2) inside the compass that the older man was checking at the end are the longitude & latitude coordinates of where the Bismarck went down. These guys pay real attention to the history behind their songs.
Sabbaton's Guitarist Tommy Johansson have his own youtbe Chanel there he does metall covers of Elton John and Abba and many more.
This! My Favorite is the "she's gone" Cover but all are amazing! Hmmm or maybe "the light"? But it's a Cover of a own Song from the past as Reinxeed.....
@@piaheiza definitely the light since it’s his original song .. written at 14 , first recorded at 18 and released at 2008
Over 400 direct hits plus several torpedos.still floating. Truly the King of the seas. And the only ship officially called:he.
So glad to see you giving Sabaton a reaction! I'd recommend their live performance of 40:1 in Poland, their music as you might be able to tell is about history. That song, about the defense of Poland during the Nazi invasion, sung on that very territory is extremely extremely powerful in my opinion.
Or "Pasadena 1994" :D
I think the 40:1 live performance at Woodstock Poland was actually taken down at some point. I haven't been able to find the original on RUclips
An Archbishop in Poland presented the band with a beautiful antique sword in thanks for writing 40:1 and ensuring those incredible Polish hero's would be remembered forever.
Sabaton doesn't take sides or push a political message the write songs about war and warriors hero's and villain's showing the true cost of war. A price paid on blood by brave men and women on all sides.
Why is everything nazi? By that logic you should have said about the defense of Unitary presidential constitutional republic instead of Poland
@@9.5.9.5 What are you talking about? Poland was literally invaded by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, from opposite directions. The song is about the fight against Nazi Germany. Why is everything Nazis? It isn't, but this one incident is.
Props to Sabaton for going out on the open seas in a small boat to film this video. No green screen BS for these boys.
what else would a bunch of Vikings do
I have been a navy buff all my life and the story of the Bismark is always one that raises the emotions when showcased by such epic music as this. She may have been the flagship of the 'enemy' but she deserved a better end than she got, as did her crew. In part, I think the ship and her men paid the price for that lucky shot that blew up the Hood. Bismark's fate was sealed at that moment.
The loss of life in naval engagements is often staggering. For example, Hood had a crew of about 1400 of which just 3 survived. Bismark was crewed by 2200 or so and less than 120 made it through the engagment.
Since this is obviously one from Maggie's archives, it's worth noting Floor just announced her second pregnancy.
Maybe you did Tommy JOhansson from Sabaton... i cloud not found a reaction. If not - please take a look to him Solo.
a second comment-the drummer in Sabaton is married to Floor of Nightwish-she beat the cancer. The watch given to the young man by the captain is same watch old man holds at the end. Side note, I was told that when they filmed this video, they sailed to where the Bismark actually was sunk.
As a history teacher, Sabaton are a godsend lol. Homework is to listen to a song and write about the historical event in the song.
Ironically, *you* are the godsend! Have a nice day internet stranger
Awesome reaction! Sabaton is amazing. You should definitely check out more songs. I would highly recommend “Christmas Truce”, “The Last Stand”, “En Livstid I Krig” live at Gothenburg, “Carolus Rex”, and “40:1” and “Uprising” both live at Woodstock.
Thanks so much for your recommendations! 🥳🤘💟
@@maggiereneemusic Second the motion for En Livstid I Krig. It’s listed on RUclips as SABATON - En Livstid I Krig (Live - The Great Tour - Gothenburg). It's in Swedish, so be sure subtitles are on. (The lyrics are always important with Sabaton.)
I agree to all suggestions here!🤘😃
Dont forget their song Seven Pillars of Wisdom and Great War.
All their songs are historical facts and sabaton are masters of storytelling.
the lead guitarist Tommy Johansson has his own band "Majestica" that i suggest you listen to. the song "above the sky" being a good starter.... also his personal youtube channel has TONS of covers of other songs from bands that show off his wonderful voice
This!
I strongly recommend this. Tommy is a massive talent musically.
I concur
I concur soo much to this 🔥
Majestica has the best Christmas album ever!!
The footage of the Bismark & Ship/plane battle scenes were created by the company behind Word of Warships (they also created footage for two other Sabaton songs, Primo Victoria and Steel Commander).
This song always makes me cry, especially the part "his guns have gone silent at last" 😭
The British weren't crying.
The inscription made near the end of the battle was a the last co-ordinates of the battle engagement and it was scribed on the inside cover of a compass, not a watch or pendant.
The writing in the compass is 48º 10' N, 16º 12' W, which the latitude & longitude location where the Bismarck sank.
The Bismarck will always go down as the king and the ruler of the sea, he was a massive beast, it went to the bottom of the abyss going down as a legend and King of the sea
@Maggie Reneé: First, as both a Navy vet and a World War II history buff, thank you for reacting to Bismarck!
To clarify something: The old man in the video IS NOT the young man that survives the sinking of KMS Bismarck. The young man is the older man's father or grandfather, as I believe it was a year before this video was released, the young man in the video died -- and he was the final survivor of the Bismarck to pass away.
That being said, the KMS Bismarck, up until the US Iowa-class battleships, was the largest in the world. He (not "she," as the Captain, as well as Adm. Karl Doenitz, the head of the Kriegsmarine, went against tradition and referred to Bismarck as "he," to which Sabaton gets right in the lyrics) had several 15" main guns, and a few 5" guns. While Bismarck had some AA (anti-air) guns, the engineers did not allow the anti-air guns to go above a certain height -- which hindered the air defenses.
However, Bismarck was far from a weak ship, having reinforced armor in the midsection of the ship. Historians believe Bismarck actually did not sink from its ammo magazines being hit, but rather by Bismarck's crew scuttling him to keep him from falling into the hands of the British.
Bismarck was the flagship of the German Navy, the Kriegsmarine. It's mission, after shakedown in 1940, was to patrol in the North Atlantic, and try and disrupt Allied shipping. During it's one mission -- which Doenitz did not get clearance from Hitler to send Bismarck on -- the Bismarck managed to sink, along with an escort with him named the Prinz Eugen (pronounced "yoy-gan"), the British Royal Navy's flagship, the HMS Hood. Later, the HMS Norfolk managed to hit a weakness of Bismarck's, the steering linkages, and prevent the battleship from turning properly. After this, Bismarck decided to try and make it to a French naval base controlled by the German Wehrmacht. Before he could make it, HMS Norfolk, HMS Suffolk, and 16 other Allied ships, mainly British, managed to engage Bismarck and sink him. One ship was so incensed at the loss of the Hood that it fired 4500 shells at Bismarck in only 3 hours, and had to be ordered to cease fire.
As for other things in the video, what the young man held was the compass with the Bismarck's true coordinates of his last known position. Given it's size, it could have been a locket or a pocket watch, and the British were known to let survivors keep trinkets and momentos they had managed to save as POWs.
At the end of the video, what is said is, "War knows no nation. This video is dedicated to all the men who fought to the bitter end in the Battle of the Atlantic." I'm putting this in a comment, since Sabaton has put in things and blocked part of the quote at the end.
Now that you know the story of Bismarck, Maggie, I recommend two videos made in conjunction with the channel YarnHub:
1) The Night Witches
2) No Bullets Fly
Because Sabaton has a very interesting way of teaching history -- and I daresay that Sabaton is the history teacher you didn't know you needed!
Bit of a clarification here, the ones who managed to hit the Bismarck's port rudder, thus ending his maneouverability, were the Swordfish launched from HMS Ark Royal, as depicted in the video.
@@ordisraru Oh! I thought it was a ship that hit him with a direct shot, not a torpedo from a carrier torpedo-bomber.
UBEAT MW 2 THOSE 2 BUT
but i will say this of all of Sabaton songs I like The Night Witches best
Not just for who it is about but the way they tell the story
I will go into the story deeper when Maggie does the tune
@@fredbays : I know the story of the Night Witches, and what they did (which was extraordinary).
Thing is, we lost the last Night Witch in 2017. That story is now truly history -- as all of World War II will be in the next 10 or 15 years.
@@isaiahwelch8066
this I knew. I learn of the Night witches back in '77 when I met a guy named Tran
He had the first book I ever read about them
Since I have read everything I can find on them
With break up of the USSR the archives have been opened and lot more about the Great Patriotic War is now known
But much has been lost as the Belichicks were good at making records but not very good at keeping them
One Author said that he has gone into huge warehouses full of records and found very few intact let alone readable
It is sad when we loss history b/c of gov not taking care of the records it keeps
The blond guitarist,Tommy Johansson is a mighty rock tenor you don't get to hear sing here. He is worthy of his own reaction. Recommend his version of Phantom Of The Opera, where he sings both parts, ending on a C6.
Tommy has also done some of the musical arrangements and instrumentation of Floor solo works. As said, Tommy is worthy of exploration by all music lovers.
Good suggestion 👍
Yes concur
I concur
Sabaton has 2 YT channels. One for their music and one history oriented.
A few years ago Sabaton were running out of historical things to write about and asked the fans for suggestions. They got enough good ones to last for years. They have a deal with a computer games company (World of Warships etc.), hence the expensive video. They have a history channel on YT where they get an expert in, and chat about the stories behind their songs.
Sabaton does awesome stuff...Night Witches, No Bullets Fly, Shiroyama, Ghost Division, White Death, Christmas Truce, Wolfpack, The Last Stand, Resist and Bite...lots of good stuff and all with history behind them. No Bullets Fly has a real nice animated version that tells the story behind it and brings a tear to my eye every time.
You can learn about important battles we never heard of.
Just to add some more historical info:
The ship that Bismarck is first shown firing at when the song begins is the HMS Prince of Wales.
Prince of Wales was one of a pair of capital ships that the British Royal Navy initially sent to intercept the Bismarck and her companion ship: the Prinz Eugen.
The other ship that went with Prince of Wales was the battlecruiser HMS Hood. Hood was also one of the prides of the Royal Navy.
After Hood was sunk by Bismarck, the Royal Navy became even more determined to bring Bismarck down. Which they succeeded in doing.
Sabaton is easily one of my favorite bands and they show all sides of history.
The young German sailor took his dying Captain's pocket watch with the longitude/latitude coordinates of the Bismarck sank/was scuttled.
The young sailor on the Bismarck is the old man with the pocket watch on Sabaton's boat
Floor recovered from her surgery, is cancer free and announced that she is expecting again! A sibling for Freya! Good that you noticed the inscription on the pocket watch/compass. The name of their boat ,"Primo Victoria", is the name of another Sabaton song. The guys froze making this video - Joakim thumping his leg to make sure it was still there! It is a history lesson from before the US entered WW2 so..... HMS Dorsetshire fired the last torpedoes into Bismack and picked up some survivors but had to leave because there was a U-boat in the area. That U-boat picked up more survivors and called a German trawler for the ones they could not take. The pocket watch/compass held at the end was given to the survivor by the captain of Bismarck! ⚓
You should check out Tommy Johannson's solo stuff. He is the young looking guitarist in this video. he has an unearthly vocal range as well as being a guitarist and muti-instrumentalist. he even does both Christine and Eric's parts in phantom of the opera.
And yea .. concur to this too .. he is just a joy to listen to 😇
Love Sabaton and as a New Zealander Sabaton cliffs of gallipoli is fantastic
Some people don't understand just how majestic and dangerous the Bismarck was. It's plating was so hard torpedos and convential guns couldn't get through it as is shown in the music video. A lucky shot hit the rudder of the ship, literally like a 1 in a million chance shot that forced the Bismarck to try to make port and it almost did, they lost track of it for awhile until a British ship accidentally came across it and then the British send a huge part of their navy to try to take it down and it took many ships attacking to finally sink it. They literally managed to sink it entirely by chance and it was so sturdy the ship didn't even break it just rolled over and fell into the ocean.
In just the space of a minute, I was dismayed to find out Floor had breast cancer, and then elated to hear that she announced her treatment was successful. I am always extremely gratified to hear about ANYONE beating cancer, especially breast cancer. I lost my mother to it, and always pray that no one else has to lose a loved one to such a horrible disease.
I love Sabaton!🤘❤️🔥🤘Awesome reaction Maggie!
THANK YOU!!!!! 🥳💟🥳💟
He was holding a pocket watch at the end.
On the morning of May 27 the King George V and the Rodney, in an hour-long attack, incapacitated the Bismarck, and an hour and a half later it sank after being hit by three torpedoes from the cruiser Dorsetshire.
One torpedo which hit amidships caused no damage, but the second affected the rudders disastrously, jamming the port-side rudder at a 15-degree angle. Immediately, the Bismarck became no longer maneuverable.
On the 8th of June, 1989, after combing an area of some 200 square miles, Ballard and his team finally found Bismarck's remains. The wreck lies in the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean some 470 miles west of Brest at a depth of 4,790 meters (15,700 feet).
There were 2,000 lives lost that day.
He holds the Kompass from his Commander. The same he hold in the beginning of the Video, with the last position of the Bismarck
WOW! That was great, MISS MAGGIE! Their version of the sinking of the Bismark was historically accurate. By the way.... Your facial expressions were priceless! Lol 😊
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I appreciate it! 🤗💖
The song basically covers the career of the Bismarck from his breakout from the Baltic Sea to the North Atlantic, where The Battle of the Denmark Straight occured.
he was holding a WW2 compass at the end.
you could also see him holding it in the beginning when they were unloading there equipment.
their current guitarist tommy johansson does epic cool stuff on his own too, check him out
In the beginning of the Video, you can hear the Radio in the beginning, when the are driving is talking about How the Bismarck have blown the "The might cruiser Hood"
That lead to the British Navy got the message that Bismarck must be destroyed at all costs and lead to Battle of The Denmark Strait.
In case you were wondering, The Kriegsmarine was Nazi Germanys Navy.
The Video was made with help from the company behind "World of Tanks" that needed some material to their game "World of Warships". And yes Sabaton really played on a boat in the "middle of nowhere".
"From Wiki"
(just a short version).
Bismarck was the first of two Bismarck-class battleships built for Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine. Named after Chancellor Otto von Bismarck, the ship was laid down at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg in July 1936 and launched in February 1939. Work was completed in August 1940, when she was commissioned into the German fleet. Bismarck and her sister ship Tirpitz were the largest battleships ever built by Germany, and two of the largest built by any European power.
In the course of the warship's eight-month career under its sole commanding officer, Captain Ernst Lindemann, Bismarck conducted only one offensive operation, lasting 8 days in May 1941, codenamed Rheinübung. The ship, along with the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, was to break into the Atlantic Ocean and raid Allied shipping from North America to Great Britain. The two ships were detected several times off Scandinavia, and British naval units were deployed to block their route. At the Battle of the Denmark Strait, the battlecruiser HMS Hood initially engaged Prinz Eugen, probably by mistake, while HMS Prince of Wales engaged Bismarck. In the ensuing battle Hood was destroyed by the combined fire of Bismarck and Prinz Eugen, which then damaged Prince of Wales and forced her retreat. Bismarck suffered sufficient damage from three hits to force an end to the raiding mission.
The destruction of Hood spurred a relentless pursuit by the Royal Navy involving dozens of warships. Two days later, heading for occupied France to effect repairs, Bismarck was attacked by 16 obsolescent Fairey Swordfish biplane torpedo bombers from the aircraft carrier HMS Ark Royal; one scored a hit that rendered the battleship's steering gear inoperable. In her final battle the following morning, the already-crippled Bismarck was severely damaged during a sustained engagement with two British battleships and two heavy cruisers, was scuttled by her crew, and sank with heavy loss of life. Most experts agree that the battle damage would have caused her to sink eventually. The wreck was located in June 1989 by Robert Ballard, and has since been further surveyed by several other expeditions..
En livstid I krig. Liveversion from Gothenburg..
That song from that show is AMAZING...
And welcome to the Sabatonfamily..
The Bismarck’s main battery (armament) was 8 15in guns, and she had very effective fire control rangefinders
I think what is written on the inside of that pocket watch (I thinks its a pocket watch) are the latitude and longitude of the location the Bismarck sank: that biplane dropped the torpedo we see hit the Bismarck near the rear of the ship- that hit jammed the rudder and the Bismarck could only circle after that, which would give the ship's officers the location of where the ship was going sink because the British Fleet was closing in and there would be no chance of fixing it and the Bismarck could not fight the entire British fleet and survive.
Ah, down the rabbit hole she goes. For example, my wife had never heard of Sabaton. I showed her this video, and away she went. She's a teacher, so she looked up Sabaton History, and we've seen Them live twice in the last couple of years. As far as the history lesson...that's what Sabaton does. Tells stories in powermetal. Christmas Truce and The Last Stand are two of my other top picks. (Bismarck is my personal favorite, but they have lots of good songs!)
The man's pocketwatch holds the co-ordinates of where the Bismark went down. Captain carved it in before handing it to him.
The "gateway" to Sabaton would this song, Christmas Truce (a must!) and En Livsted I Jrig live in Goteburg
The sailor that was rescued was holding the Admirals watch.
He was holding a clock inscribed with the coordinates to where the ship was intentionally sank (scuttled). For decades it was thought as "lost" but was finally found in 1989
Tommy Johannson, the lead guitarist for Sabaton has his own channel and does solo work. Want to be totally blown away? Aside from being an incredible guitarist, he has one of the finest voices I know of today.
The singer said in an interview, that he was a keyboardist, and the rest of the band said for him to be the singer until they found a permanent one
"And they've been really lazy in finding one"
Being a Huge history/WW2 nerd, have been fan of Sabaton's songs/method of teaching military history. Glad to see you enjoying their videos also
Heh, since you recorded this I have seen Floor live (with Nightwish), and it's now less than a month until I get to see Sabaton (all being well)! There's plenty more to enjoy from Sabaton, my only warning is that when doing animated videos make sure to do the _story_ video, as sometimes there are multiple versions and the story videos are waaay better if you have any interest in the history _(No_ _Bullets_ _Fly_ and _Night_ _Witches_ are probably my favourites). Enjoy!
The songs To Hell and Back and 82nd All the Way are both very good songs about two of the most decorated American men in WWII and WWI respectively (Audie Murphy and Alvin York). The first song that I heard from Sabaton was called Panzerkampf regarding WWII tank battle between Germany and Russia. One of my favorites though is one of their more recent called Great War (from the album Great War). It gives a lot of behind-the-scenes perspective during the video.
Do you remember the wave of fans when you first reacted to Voiceplay, Home Free and Pentatonics? Yeah, Sabaton has fans like that. Looking forward to seeing more.
Sabaton is best historic Metal band ^^
Hey some new guy hear I want to thank all current and passed service men and women. Your the reason why I joined.
Thanks for sharing your reaction
And the lovely news that Floor is having a second baby ❤❤😊
Sabaton keeps their main rule - one song means (or equals?) one real historical battle.
I have seen them live a couple times now. They all have that energy for their entire set.
The Bismark
50,300 tonnes displacement.
823' 3" long
118' beam
Big ship(not going through all the specs)
They have a lot of great music
So happy for you to be discovering this band now, they're very talented and also educational! I've definitely learned more history from Sabaton than I ever did at school.
If you're looking for another of their songs to listen to, I'd recommend the animated video to No Bullets Fly. Bit of an emotional one, particularly since it's a true story
If only history lessons were this interesting back in school eh!
There are so many lessons that Sabaton have brought to us.
Inscription was latitude and longitude. He holds the watch given him by the captain with the latitude and longitude written in.
"... that blow up the battlecruiser Hood..." GIANT smiling emoji appears on screen... thats exactly my humor ^^
Finally some Sabaton :) I think you'd really enjot Uprising (live) and Christmas Truce
Last September I saw Sabaton in Concert for the first time and it was epic. I would highly recommend seeing them in concert if you ever have a chance to see them.
Also Jokim Broden Sabaton's lead singer was a guest singer in a song from Nanowar of Steel in the last couple of weeks. The song he is a guest in is called Pasadena 1994. This song is based on the Final World Cup Game in 1994 which was in Pasadena California between Italy and Brazil. I would highly recommend checking this song out. Nanowar of Steel is an Italian Metal Band and most of their songs are parody songs but they are awesome. They don't necessarily take themselves seriously but they have fun with their music. I would highly recommend checking out Nanowar of Steel's Pasadena 1994 song.
Thank you Maggie, I can listen to Sabaton all day , well with some Nightwish in between ;-) Greetings from nwAse Sweden
as a side note here, the name they gave the boat at 2:26 is taken from an older song by the band, from the older set up of the band.
The wreck of Bismarck was discovered on 8 June 1989 by Robert Ballard, the oceanographer responsible for finding RMS Titanic. Bismarck was found to be resting on her keel at a dept of approximately 4,791 m (15,719 ft), about 650 km (400 mi) west of Brest. 48°10′N 16°12′W
The pyro they have for this song live is just incredible. Well worth seeing.
The Bismarck was perused for about 3 days (if I remember correctly) Sabaton is singing about its last stand.
The sinking of the Bismarck was unquestionably the biggest naval action in the Atlantic during the second world war. The loss of the Bismarck changed Germany's entire naval strategy and thus their entire war strategy. Following the sinking of the HMS Hood, which was the pride of Britain's Royal Navy. the search for and subsequent discovery and ultimate successful attack on that ship by the British Navy is nothing short of a miracle.
Sabaton's history of war put to music is nothing short of artistic brilliance.
All Sabaton songs are real history. They don't take sides just sing real history. Look at Christmas Truce, No Bullets Fly etc. The history lessons are phenomenal. 😊
yeah Sabaton is a fantastic band especially if you are a history buff (all their official music vids are fantastic) when i want to get pumped or stay awake on a long drive its to Sabaton that i turn
Saw Sabaton last fall along with Epica. Fantastic concert! My favorite of theirs is Dreadnought.
The inscription was the coordinates to the exact location of where the Bismark sank
Yes at last Bismarck (Sabaton)🇸🇪 nice reaction 'opera girl'...
I absolutely love this band!
5:55 that emoji timing was perfect for the torpedo hit.
There were only two Bismarck class ship built but both did massive damage when they were around
I love sabaton's music videos.
Welcome to the bottomless rabbit hole of Sabaton hun 😊
Floor announced yesterday that she is pregnant again
So fun fact two of the Bismarck's main gun turrets are in pieces because during her sinking she crushed them, remember folks both Japan and Germany ignored the navel treaty of 1922 with battleships exceeding a displacement weight of 10,000 tons
Welcome to the Sabaton Army. You have to watch 1916, their cover of the Motorhead song.
production of this video is AWESOME.. also music too
I love this song awesome song an band
well done video as usual with Sabaton-each song is a history lesson. I highly suggest Lady of the Dark for an awesome video. BTW the watch plays an important link in this video.
Fun fact. The Bismarck was fitted with ''at the time'' Advanced Anti-Air systems which out-dated the pre-war carrier-launched Swordfish bi-planes.
As a result. Noe were shot down as the swordfish was soo out-dated and too slow for the minimum settings for the anti air battery of the Bismarck.
The master of the fishing boat holds the Bismarck Captain's watch that he took from himprior to abandoning ship. To remember:
"To lead the Kriegsmarine".
Over 2000 men died on Bismarck, only 110 were rescued.
He was holding the captains pocket watch.
This video follows the history of the cruise of the Bismarck, Operation Rheinübung, from the encounter with the HMS Hood and HMS Prince of Wales, to the Swordfish torpedo attack from the HMS Ark Royal which disabled Bismarck's rudder and forced him to sail in circles, to Bismarck's final battle with the gathered Royal Navy and the final torpedo coup-de-grace attack from HMS Dorsetshire, very closely. Wikipedia has a nice article on the events.
As a fellow musician, I beg you to continue to react to this amazing band!!!!!’🎉🎉🎉
