ORIGINAL: • SABATON - Bismarck (Of...
Since you are from Belgium you should definitely check their songs "resist and bite" and "race to the sea"
One of the first Sabaton song he did, I believe, it blew his mind
He has already done race to the sea. I def encourage you to react to Resist and bite, that will def tick your National pride for Belgium and get your heart pumping.
Angels Calling, price of a mile and ghost in the trenches were all songs from the Panschendalle campaigns
@@miafranlund6982 I don't see any other sabaton reactions
I'd put "Christmas Truce" at least _on_ that list, if not at the top... Considering that a major part of those truces happened in Belgium (the rest in northern France) and the memorial cross shown at the end of the video is in Saint-Yvon, Ploegsteert, Comines-Warneton ☺
The captain on the fishing boat is the son of the survivor from Bismarck portraying his father as he died one year before the video.
I see this comment on every bismarck reaction but i have never found a source for this claim. Yes i understand that within the story of the music video, the boat captain is clearly ment to be a relative of the man who survived because they are both holding the same locket but that does not mean it's the real life son. Sabaton have normally always pointed out when they been in contact with real life family members of the people that their songs are about so it is strange that i can't find any source of them ever mentioning this. I would love to be shown a source for this claim because it is cool if it's true.
@@SharbtursGameCorner Yes, I think your suspicion are correct. I think the commenter(s) of this "fact" has made it up because is would be a cool thing. I suspect it isn't true.
It's probably just a like-bate.
Sabaton are very supportive of reactors last I checked so that's fun, too.
Sabaton run their own management and although being under the (independant) Nuclear Blast record label, they won't claim copyrights on reactors.
Sabaton is from Sweden, established in 1999 and they are a power Metal band who loves History and writing songs about wars, Heroic individuals and historical events from each country that they visiting on their tours and they stay neutral when comes to politics and different ideological views they have also a History channel named Sabaton History channel
I refer to it as Historic metal.
Sabaton - Christmas truce (official music video, NOT the animated video) The title says it all.
Their tribute/cover to Motörhead. The song 1916 (official music video)
These are amazing songs and visuals. They make movie not music videos Hahahahaha
And as always when it comes to Sabaton. ALWAYS listen to the end. Even the credits. 1. They and the people around deserved it. 2. Always an easter egg somewhere.
@@AndyMagnusson70 Sabaton love their Easter eggs for us to find.
3. There is a dedication to an event (Bismark) or soldiers that never made it home (Soldier of heaven)
Primo Victoria is the title song, about the D-day, on the Sabaton album Primo Victoria.
As you saw, the young navy soldier that got the compass should be the man that had the compass in the start of the video.
But sadly, he passed away just before the making of the video so it is his son that got that role instead.
So it is actually the grandson to the actual navy soldier that brought the compass to safety.
The video itself is a collaboration with the makers of the video game World of warships.
The shooting on the band is actually made out on a boat in the sea. They have said that they were freezing their asses off! 😀
1st: you are very good pre-informed.👍
2nd Sabaton is a swedish power-metalband, singing about war History, not only WW 1 and WW 2.
3rd: the "Mohawk Man" is Joakim Broden
The bandmembers: Joakim Broden, vocals, Pär Sundström, bass, Chris Rörland, Guitar and Tommy Johannson, (solo-)Guitar
Important to know: they have an ownn "Sabaton History Channel", where they give deeper Infos about their songs.
Some song-suggestions about true Events, Maybe forgotten, maybe never known: "Christmas truce", "No bullets fly", "The Last Stand", "40:1" and many more. But be warned: some of their songs are mentally very hard stuff: "Inmate 4859", "To Hell and Back", "The unkillable soldier", "Uprising", "Soldier of Heven"
B.t.w: keep on searching for Tommy Johannson s solo-work here on YT and His own band "Majestica".
Tommy Johansson left Sabaton in the beginning of this year (2024) and they brought their former guitarist Thobbe Englund back to replace him. Tommy was too busy with his own YT channel and his own band as well, so there was just not enough time in a day to do everything.
Sabaton is a Swedish metal band that sing mostly about war history, that said they dont take sides only tell the story. Also have their own Sabaton history channel.
And i think they even have a couple of songs about Belgium in WWII.
On a side note. The lead guitarist is Tommy Johansson and has his own RUclips and is a brilliant singer as well as an amazing musician.
Yes! Tommy is amazing! You really should check him out, try his latest cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On"! ❤
He is, indeed
The have two songs about Belgian history
Race To The Sea - King Albert flooding the river in WWI (The War To End All Wars album)
Resist And Bite - Chasseurs Ardennais and their fight against the Nazis (Heroes album)
@@nocturne7371 Angels Calling, Price of a mile and ghost in the trenches are all events based within the Paschendaele campaigns in WW1
Resist and bite is my favorite song from that album, it blew my mind! Had it on repite for ages 🤩
I've watched a boatload of reactions to this and you're the first guy to get the significance of the coordinates. Kudos, and a subscription!
They are a Swedish power metal band.
Great reaction!
the drummer is married to floor from NIGHTWISH. i am happy and impressed that you saw the watch right away. you are one of the few who noticed and spoke of it. this is my first reaction with you. i am subscribing . you are thoughtful. thanks. i have not seen your earlier reactions yet so forgive my ignorance. if you have not yet reacted to nightwish, please do. start with GHOST LOVE SCORE from the 2013 wacken concert where they headlinded. 82,000 fans.
Wow! I did not know that he was married to Floor! How awesome is that?? TY for telling us! 2 of my fav groups.
Sabaton has TONS of great songs, ALL telling a true story. Christmas Truce, 1916, The Night Witches, No Bullets Fly, Angels Calling, What's The Price Of A Mile, The Royal Guard and To Hell And Back, are some of my favourites. There are TONS though. You gonna have a blast
The accurate term for their genre is History Metal. And yes, they are from Sweden, even winning The Enlightener Award.
And Yes, all of their songs and hits are based on real historical things / events! Some their greatest hits are (yes) The Bismark, Lady of The Dark (Animated Version), No Bullets Fly (Animated Version), Night Witches (Animated Version), Christmas Truce (Official Video), Attack of The Dead Men and My personal Favorits (As a Finn) Talvisota - Winter War and White Death - The Deadliest Sniperman in The World.
Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band from Falun, which was formed in 1999. The band's songs are inspired by various historical wars. Even the band name is military inspired, as Sabaton is also the name of the part of the armor that covers the foot. Sabaton has toured with, among others, Iron Maiden, Scorpions and Hammerfall.
What separates Sabaton from all other musicians is that they manage everything themselves and are run as a company with 100 employees. They manage the bookings of gigs, arena bookings, hotel and flight bookings themselves. They also handle the actual sale of the tickets, in order to keep costs down and no one outside should get a share of the cake, so to speak. They manage the sales of the records and souvenirs. Sabatan owns 8 trucks to transport everything for the gigs there, including a tank where the drummer sits and plays, as well as clothes, instruments and what is to be sold at the gigs. So Sabaton also owns 6 buses to drive the band but also all the employees needed.
Hannes Van Dahl (drummer) is married to the marvelous Floor Jansen from Nightwish.
thats why the line in christmas truce is that why we bury our friends rips me open every time
I like Sabaton, I've got a couple of their songs on my playlist - Primo Victoria and To Hell and Back. I really like this song Bismarck as well, the video is awesome! There is a really good British black and white film called Sink the Bismarck! made in 1960 based on the 1959 book The Last Nine Days of the Bismarck by C. S. Forester. I've seen it many times, it's on yt and it's an excellent film. Great reaction Anthony, love it! 😊😊
The drummer is seated on top of a tank! It’s fkn awesome!
Yeah, in Great War tour he sat on the tank.
From what I have heard you don't have to worry too much about copyright claims, I think they are pretty chill and like reactions to their music.
The Bismark & battle scenes were created by the team behind the World of games, in this case World of Warships, their World of Tanks division have also done the video's for Sabaton's Primo Victoria and Steel Commander as well as adding at least one Sabaton themed tank into World of Tanks.
Edit: Sabaton themselves I believe like reactors reacting to their music which also gets them new fans and their label is Nuclear Blast who appear to be at least somewhat lenient.
I also know for the Sabaton videos which have been animated by Yarnhub that Yarnhub have commented positively directly to reacting to their video's in the reactors comment feed.
I would warn you that Sabaton's cover of the Motorhead song 1916 is quite likely to hit in the feels and definately keep watching the credits.
Another onion chopping video is "No bullets fly", the animated story version. 🥺
@@jregns True and Yarnhub the people who animated that vid have been known to comment positively to reactors who liked the video.
Great reaction, thanks! More Sabaton, please. Resist and Bite - very powerful!
I'm so glad you liked this! Sabaton is an amazing band and great storytellers.
Your eye for detail is out of this world, subscribing
Loving this
Nice reaction:) If you are from Belgium, then for sure do Christmas Truce, if you haven't already. Due to Sabaton, I visited Belgium and saw the Christmas Truce memorial. So cool!
I've heard many say the sailor was his grandfather or maybe possibly his father.
Almost. He is the son of the last survivor of Bismarck.
You are the first and only person I have watched who actually got the reference and the significance of the pocket watch! You GOT IT! Captain of the trawler the band played on was playing on: It's him. My hat is off to you, sir. Mad respect.
The Bismarck sank the British battlecruiser Hood in 1941.
The Bismarck was also badly damaged in the battle and then hunted down by the British and sunk on May 27, 1941.
In 1989, the wreck was discovered at a depth of 4,750 meters in the sea off Brest.
I am amazed how much attention you pay. I have seen a lot of your reactions before. Not all reactors pay that much attention. The compass was handed down in the family. The older man from the beginning was actually the son of the sailor who got the compass.
By the way, you should have recognised one of the guitarist. You reacted to him before. It is Tommy Johansson. He left Sabaton a few months ago.
Please please listen to ' no bullets fly' the yarn hub video. The story will blow you away, the ending of the video is absolutely breathtaking.
Enjoy more of Sabaton
You really have to their cover of Motorhead's "1916".
Greetings from Wisconsin.🤘Very much liked your reaction. I have watched hundreds of reactions to this video and you are the first to pick up on the compass and the coordinates. New sub here just for that. I'm not sure the old man is the young sailor, though. I don't think the ages work. But the old man could have been that sailor's younger relative (son or nephew). Doesn't really matter I guess. The point is the same. The coordinates were recorded on the compass, it survived, and was used to locate the Bismark decades later.
As others have mentioned, I think you will like Nightwish. They are considered symphonic metal, which is similar to power metal in that it is much more melodic and doesn't have constant screaming. Also as others have mentioned, Nightwish's current lead singer, Floor Jansen, is married to Sabaton's drummer Hannes Van Dahl. They have two children.
This is by far the best reaction video I've seen for this song. Most people don't catch half of what you did, such as the compass or the poster on the wall of Bismarck.
Sabaton has songs about history and humans! they have Belgium, Germany, Poland, soviet Union, sparta, france, south Africa, japan... they simplly sing history, not politics.
Australia - Cliffs of Galipolli and Ballad of Bull
Yep
And Switzerland, Last Stand. And they also have a fair few muricans in their songs too (Lost Battalion, Devil Dogs, Midway and so on)
Sabation videos to recommend: No bullets fly, Soldier of heaven, Race to the sea, Gott mit uns, Christmas Truce, 1916, Last Stand - and that's only the tip of the iceberg. I'd recommend the entire Carolus Rex album, because there they tackle the history of their home country of sweden.
They have a history channel with the history behind every song, called Sabaton History, you can watch the history around the Bismarck with an historian and sabaton members explaining the music too.
Nice you react to this band, a lot of great songs and can learn some history 😁
Bismarck - Battle of the Atlantic - Sabaton History 012 [Official]
ruclips.net/video/r5D3wSqdIG4/видео.html
And you said you are Belgian, they have some songs about yor country "Race to the Sea", "Resist and Bite", "In Flanders Fields"
@@agpv1975 he already reacted to race to the sea
yes the coordinates are where the ship is on the bottom of the ocean
Great reaction! Thanks!👍
The engraving in the watch are the last coordinates of the Bismarck before she sank
I have a friend who is German and his grandfather was on the Bismarck but was transferred off to a different ship with other soldiers just days before the ship was sunk.
Their album lable is nuclear blast, they learned a long time ago that reaction channels are good thing for business and allows this sort of content, just support the orginal work.
They are Swedish 🇸🇪
I shouldn't be, but I'm kinda impressed. If you only knew how many people couldn't figure out that A-word at the end of the video. Very few reaction channels could figure out it says Atlantic. I mean it's so obvious. Hence why I'm impressed and shouldn't be lol. So good job bud.
Definitely nordic btw, Sabaton are fellow swedes. Drummer (not in this video as this is an old a-- song) is married to Floor Jansen, vocalist (current) of Nightwish.
Sabaton is all about factual history. Any video you watch, be it music or not, it will most likely be about something that happened for real at some point. No Bullets Fly is another highly recommended song, that one is also 100% true. Night Witches is another true story. Christmas Truce, same deal there.
Keep the Sabaton videos coming :)
We can actually see the drummer Hannes Van Dahl (blond long hair) playing on the boat behind the band :)
@@agnieszkazuk oh dang, I thought this was before his time. Well even I learned something new today then :)
It has been suggested that the legs one can see dangling when they get up the stairs at the beginning belongs to Floor Jansen, the singer of Nightwish, who is married to the drummer in Sabaton. I have never seen any confirmation though.
Nice reaction🍀
You‘re welcome to Sabaton‘s rabbit hole😂.
greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
Another fun fact: In 2022, Sabaton became the first metal band to win 'Enlightener of the year" from The Swedish Skeptics Association, because almost all their music is a history lesson.
Top reactie weer.
My grandfather fought in ww2, too. He was a captain in the Dutch army and ended up in a pow/concentration camp in Poland.
Luckily, he ended up being liberated by the Soviets as they were being marched back west back to Germany.
I still have the belt he wore back then, which he carved in the journey from day to day... town to town.
He lost over 40 Kg in captivity... so he had plenty of room on his belt to write down the story.
He made it to 89 and passed away peacefully in Spain, with his family present. I was there and 20 at the time back in 1995
You NEED to watch:
Lady of the dark (animated story video)
No bullets fly (animated story video)
Uprising (Live at woodstock)
Some lesser known songs, yet great ones:
The last battle
Shiruyama
Sabaton can give a ton of content for your reactions. And they sing about historical events (some you may not even heard of), so its a great opportunity to learn something. Some are touchy, some are powerful, but almost all are patriotic for particular audiences. I highly recommend this rabbit hole. They also have a history channel, where they talk about events presented in their songs.
If you are after some cool stories, try Christmas Truce or No Bullets Fly (animated story video) as these are most reacted to, but in general, almost every song has very interesting historical background.
I was actually listening to them today. Love me some Sabton.
The wreck of Bismarck was discovered on 8 June 1989 by Robert Ballard, the oceanographer responsible for finding RMS Titanic. Bismarck was found to be resting on her keel at a dept of approximately 4,791 m (15,719 ft), about 650 km (400 mi) west of Brest. 48°10′N 16°12′W
When the Bismarck emerges from the fog….THAT was badass.
They have so many great songs. I was introduced to them by the video “ Price of a mile.” They have a great cover of a Motörhead song called 1916 and the best is Christmas truce. Floor is married to the guitarist, if I remember correctly.
Almost. Floor Jansen (Nightwish) is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of Sabaton. 😊
@@jregns Im getting old my memory sometimes fails. pushing 56
@@andy60234 No worries, I'm just a few years behind ya' 😉
Great reaction!👍👍 By the way ,dude who plays solo 🎸 in this video is Tommy Johansson, former lead guitarist of Sabaton. He is multinstrumentalist and have his own youtube chanel with huge list with covers of popular songs. Also he have his own band Majestica and phenomenal vocal range. Please, make reaction to Tommy!🙏🙏🙏🙏
The genre of music this band plays is called power metal
Brilliant reaction! Subbed for more of Sabaton (and others 😉)
Their label "Nuclear Blast" is pretty cool with copyright issues. They understand, that this is free advertising.
They said the USS New Jersey was originally supposed to be the stand-in for the Bismarck, but due to the large cost, and massive amount of red tape, they went with collaborating with Wargaming to do a CG model of it. He slipped beneath the waves, which means the crew scuttled the ship, and the whole of the British navy couldn't sink him. Sabaton is a Swedish band, and the lead singer is half Swede half Czech.
Here's a little thing a lot of people miss. In the song, 'Bismarck' is referred to as "he". Most ships - military or otherwise - are given feminine pronouns, but 'Bismarck' and 'Tirpitz' were not.
Something also reflected in the lyrics, the Bismarck is one of the very few ships to be referred to as a male. This is very much an exception and historically accurate.
Check out "En livstid i krig" live in Gothenburg - it is low key epic. It is in Swedish but put on the subtitles and enjoy.
The song "Carolus Rex" is also a great one (both the Swedish and the English version, even though the Swedish one slightly better).
There are a few animated song story’s for Sabaton that give you a history lesson while you hear the song I do recommend those, they have Lady of the Dark, the first soldier, Night Witches and the Red Baron to name a few. Song wise I’d defiantly recommend Primo Victoria the last stand and Swedish pagans as well as Christmas truce, I would watch the Christmas truce music video before you do the animated story as they have an animated story for it as well but the music video is amazing.
Sabaton is a Swedish band that writes and sings about Actual historic events, battles, moments of heroism and wars, but hey don't glorify war whatsoever.
They released their 10th studio album last year.
Nice thing about them is that their video's never blocked so it's RUclips safe. (except for some Wacken video's that gets blocked by Wacken)
If you really want to go down the Sabaton rabbit-hole, I would recommend these:
(These are all from the Sabaton Channel, and they never block videos so it's safe to use)
[live at Woodstock 2012]: Ghost Division, 40:1 and Uprising
[Great Tour Live Videos]: En Livstied I Krig (make sure to turn subtitles on), Red Baron, Swedish Pagans, Primo Victoria, Fields of Verdun, Devil Dogs & Angels Calling
[Lyric videos]: Attack of the dead men, The Final Solution, In Flanders Fields, 82nd All the way, Sparta, Shiroyama, Cliffs Of Gallipolli and The lost betallion
[Music Video's]: Christmas Truce, 1916, Steel Commanders, Defence of Moscow, Livgardet (make sure to turn subtitles on), Fields of Verdun, Rourke's Drift, Screaming Eagles, Uprising, The Future Of Warfare (Building Blocks Video) & Seven Pillars of wisdom
[Animated History Video's]: Night Witches and No Bullets Fly (not animated music video's, the animated history/story video's)
[Covers]: Kingdom Come [Offical video]
and I'm sure people told you but in case, Sabaton have another channel (Sabaton History Channel) where they do a deep dive into the history behind the songs with Indy Nidell.
1. Nice reaction
2. Sabaton normaly don't claim copyrights on reactions, they want people to see
3. Throwing Sabaton song in:
Wolfpack
Firestorm
Red Baron and No Bullets Fly (Animated Story Videos)
Ghost Division
Something to think would be Wehrmacht, because of the questions asked in it
sabaton lady of the dark animated story video
This video was sponsored by the MMO World of Warships, so they had a larger budget than usual.
Sabaton has a RUclips channel called Sabaton History, where (along with an actual historian) they look into the real history behind their songs.
I’m on board huge SABATON fan heard , Sabaton reactions suggestions, No bullets fly , Night Witches , En Livstid i Krig
Power metal, this granny approves. 😂
they talk about this song and about how they filmed the playing on the boat near where bismark sank. check out their history channel, really informative and easy to listen to/watch
Night Witches (animated video); 1916; Warsaw Uprising; Christmas Truce; in fact, anything from Sabaton. Their history channel is also great.
As a Belgian man you should definitely listen to Resist and Bite. I would also recommend No Bullets Fly (animated story video), and well... pretty much anything by Sabaton.
This band is Swedish and its vocalist is Joakim Brodén. The drummer is Hannes Van Dahl and he is married to the singer Floor Jansen. All of its themes are military stories that occurred in different eras.
Hi, great reaction. I hope you do more Sabaton, many great songs and videos to cover. Goe bezig zou ik zeggen! 😊
Its true for most other music but when your watching Sabaton u dont have to worry about copyright they want ppl to watch it and learn from the history in there songs even if its a reaction video.
Sabaton are fine with reactors reacting to their songs, they see it as a way for more people to learn about their music and the history that they portray.
Also, since you're from Belgium, have a listen to Race to the Sea.
As part of "Sabaton Army" ... im impressed by you catching the finer points of the video... most reactions i seen to that never got the compass part
Fun fact. The battle clips of this music video was made by video game maker Wargaming that are known for World of Warships on pc and World of Warships: Legends on console
Subbed for more Sabaton. Their history channel is a must go to. They are passionate about history.
Highly recommend 'No Bullets Fly' the cartoon version. 'Christmas Truce' is epic.
By the way, always listen till the very end of their videos for conclusion.
There are so many Sabaton Songs to recommend, but I would go for "Christmas Truce", as it is very powerfull in message.
Sabaton is such an awesome band. I know bands that write songs about history but sabaton is on entirely different level. They go and actually get as much information and facts about the history of what the song is about before they even write the song itself . I hope that there is more sabaton to get reacted to on this channel . soldier of hevan and red baron are some other good ones by them
Primo victoria is their 1st single what got attention. and it's latin for 1st victory. Got you bro...
My favorite Sabaton song! 😊❤
Everything with sabaton is a history lesson
That was really good.k love your voice and reactions😂
Still goosebumps. Despite of I already watched 10000000x
Harlem Hellfighters is a good one. If i remember correctly the Bismarks Captain was trying to not fight the British Navy at all.
I wold like to first time seen Sabaton and have the biggest rabbit hole to discover
If you want to learn more about the Bismarck, the channel Extra History has an amazing mini-series about it :)
A song that seems to be missing that is really outstanding is the live, Swedish version (with subtitles) of "En Livstid I Krig" (A Lifetime of War). It is truly emotional and from the soldier's point of view. The English version lyrics are more from a observers point of view, so do not hit as hard. Also check out 1916 (official), Christmas Truce (official), Warsaw Uprising (live) and Resist and Bite. All have powerful emotional impact and make sure to watch them to the very end (including credits).
everyone misses the significance of the pocket watch/compass and who's hands it went from and who it was showing them location of the ship
U never be unsure about the stories in a Sabaton song.. just check Sabaton history channel ❤
Sabaton has never gone after a reactor once and sometimes supports them.

En Livstid I Krig live in Gothenburg is a must do
With subtitles ON as it is in Swedish, or you'll miss half the point!
Well since you are Belgium, reacting to Unkillable Soldier is a must :) love the video, as always.
I still think this should have 80ies style fade out ending to represent Bismarck vanishing under the waves
War knows no nation because war is war. Sabaton likes to take on history from the perspective of the people, those actually fighting the wars. A soldier is not his nation, he's one person and they're all soldiers, regardless of what flag they fly
