Hey Maggie! :) I just discovered Colm McGuinness Music. His voice goes INSANELY deep! I saw the videos of Misty mounains cold, and one of If I had a heart (by Fever Ray).
He claims he doesn't alter his voice and it's all just extra layers, but his voice seriously is the deepest I have ever heard by far!
You might like to give it a try! :-)
@@MarcelNL Thank you for your suggestion! 😊
no it isn't
Hey Maggie, I would watch Master of Puppets, or Welcome home sanitarium (for another slower song), and for pure Metallica raw power try Battery. Keep up the great videos.
Definitely Enya Caribbean Blue or Orinoco Flow! Both are equally good! Happy New Year!!
Fun fact for you; James Hetfield’s mother was an opera singer.
You should check out the shows they did with the San Francisco Symphony
it's called S&M Symphony&Metallica
Very cool. Listened to metallica for 30 years and didnt know that!🤟
I was going to suggest S&M to there are 2 S&,M both different versions.
Yes. Metallica is the biggest metal band in the world. They not only survived the 80’s hair bands, the 90’s grunge, and the millenium… they thrived more than any of their peers. They helped keep metal relevant through when it wasn’t the new popular sound. They’ve had bed albums but even those were forgiven because following this band is like a book with a chapter for everything achievement and heartbreak that they’ve endured.
Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you on my Slipknot LIVE reaction stream tonight?
if you want to see something amazing, check out Metallica's live concert in Russia back in the early 90's the crowd looks like it goes over the horizon, its like half of eastern europe showed up. the music was good, as expected they are fantastic, but the crowd size is off the scale
1 million + at that one
1.6 million people showed up I believe
@@kennethandersen7 thats about right hasn't been that many people just outside Moscow since Barbarossa
I remember watching that concert in the early 1990's...
I'm in the USA I Ben a fan of Metallica since they started in the early 1980's..
They do not know how many there were in Moscow then. It was a free concert. Lars (The Drummer) says that the organizers estimate the amount at 600,000 people.
I think Maggie is now ready for "Enter Sandman" Live in Moscow 1991. Its mind melting to see.
No not yet
She's not ready yet maybe a live Lynyrd Skynyrd concert to start with
This is actually not their best live performance of this song. Still good, but they've done it so much better.
Presisely. The official video is definitely the first place to start, imo.
@Rozza true he was trying to rip the strings off that damn guitar
Which one is the best in your opinion then? I think it's the 1994 Woodstock one :)
@@felixionescu6720In my opinion it's the 1993 version in De Kuip in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Mostly because I was there at 18 years old
If you want to hear an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G live song by them. You said OMG I love them! You would love their song "The Day that Never Comes", live in Nimes France 2009! It is such a good song and such a good performance! It has the acoustic guitar in the beginning which runs into an awesome rock song with dueling guitars and awesome vocals! I think you'll LOVE it!!
The video to that song is pretty intense too. EDIT: only problem there is the video is so good, you get caught up in it instead of the music itself lol.
Those vocal flairs at the end of those few phrases aren't on the record. The only thing I can think of is that they are the result of singing this song at every show for 30 years, straight.
Hetfield's signature vocalization is "yeah!".
And I'm totally with you: when James started the final solo - that passion and intensity on a song that almost didn't make the record because it was so personal is just ... awesome...
JJJJYEAH!!😂
"Nothing Else Matters" is one of the most beautiful metal songs ever! ❤
You mentioned the crowd size as the video was first starting. That's nothing. Watch their Enter The Sandman video when they played in Russia in 1991. The crowd size was 1.6 Million. Not a typo. Great video shots of the sea of people in front of them.
The number of people there is highly disputed, I have seen anywhere from 700,000 to 1.6 million. The official count is 1.4 million though.
The first ballad that they did was on their second studio album, Ride The Lightning, a song called “Fade To Black”. It’s another great example of their range and a fantastic song too but, though I think it alienated some of their fans because many of them only wanted the hard stuff.
They got older, better with age as far I can see, People say they sold out, and Hetfield agreed they sell out every concert
When I first heard the name Metallica in the way back, I immediately imagined a loud hair band with rough voices, screechy guitar solos and that kind of stuff, Then I heard them... Interesting lyrics, skillful singing and playing and a real intent to create music. You can't tell a book and all that. Good music and good reaction Maggie. Nice editing too. 🎸
This band has been rocking for 40 yrs metallic is awesome 🖤🖤 night has spoken lights out

It's so amazing to see a young person discovering music us old folks have been listening to for decades. Glad you enjoyed it. It just gets better. 😀
Your facial expressions and excitement in that Beautiful face of yours.... Priceless!!! 😘🤘❤
Thank you!! 😁
Now please listen to the studio version...it is beyond sublime!
For a generation of us that came up on Metallica in the early 80s this material kind of represents their shift towards a much more mainstream Hardrock sound which did bring them a bazillion new fans. Unfortunately it also meant that I had to wait in line with a bunch of people I would just as soon slap-in-the-face as have to deal with when it came to going to see the band. It's always tough because you're happy for the band and their success, but at the same time now that moshpit is full of jocks who didn't know what they were doing they were just there to hurt somebody, latecomers you really didn't understand the Genesis of the thrash movement that spawned Metallica,... There is a holier-than-thou Puritan vibe that it's easy to fall into when I look back on how precious their first three records were to me versus what came after the fact. But there is no disputing they've done very well for themselves, and they are certainly still an excellent Gateway band to getting people into heavier music.
Being one of those bazillion new fans. I concur.
You are one those "fans"
@@DMGinc77 yeah the gatekeeper "you weren't there at the beginning so you're not a real fan" tool....
I got into Metallica because of the Black album, Before that it was Manowar and Iron Maiden, bands like that. I don't think I would have been ready for the earlier Metallica. But then it went fast, The old stuff From Metallica, Sepultura, Slayer and Pantera amongst many was what I listened to for many years...And all that, i think, because of the Black Album Gateway. All that said I think, that putting "Latecomers" all in the same Category is wrong. Mosh pits Aren't a Trash only Thing. In my experience those who don't understand the culture amongst metalheads, are those that dont listen to it often, but like the softer material from a single metalband, and go to a concert. amongst that group that are a few that really fucks it up.
Grow up & realize we all change as we get older, been listening to them since "no life till leather" changed our lives! & was simply the air we breathed, as we got older so did they, to explore yourself as you get older is human, just because they're METALLICA they're still just men, they're musicians before metal! If you don't know that by now then you'll never know what they're about, grow up
I Love how you enjoy these different genres (Rock) even though it isn't your vibes as a Singer!
I've thoroughly enjoyed so many of these Rock artists and felt so many of their songs are raw and full of truths that society wishes to disregard, in a way which emphasizes the pain and fury, but also the passion and beauty that comes from unleashing those voices...
Thank you for sharing your voice and truth as well!
Metallica is still in my top. So many gems.

I am just so impressed with how many classically trained and opera trained musicians and singers are impressed by rock and metal when analysed in detail. It always seems to validate my passion and appreciation of the genre. I’m autistic and back in school (over 40 years ago) I done well in a test to figure out if we were musical! I should say I was only diagnosed autistic 7 years ago and I found learning music by ear way easier than via theory and notation. It shows, though, that writing off a genre of music because “it’s not my style” has the potential of leading you to miss out on new ideas that over time combine to become your style, whether your instrument is guitar, drums voice or whatever. It opens the mind to something pretty amazing!
its an odd thing but ive always felt that classical music and even opera to a lesser extent have more in common with metal then they do with most other genre's
@@Blizzard0fHope Metal music is just classical music with electricity, after all. 👊🤘
HIs voice was shot in this performance. They are so good live that I have seen them over 2 dozen times. This was definitely not one of his best performances. Still, it's always awesome to see appreciation for talent in styles that aren't necessarily in a person's personal tastes. Respect for talent is import, so thank you for what you do!

On Howard Stern, Elton John told Metallica that this was a musical masterpiece. Almost brought tear to James. It’s a pretty awesome moment.
The beginning was a snippet fromJimi Hendrix’ “third stone from the sun”.

I have never particularly liked metal music at really, but Metallica is so good they have been one of my favorite bands all my life. His thing is the “YEY-AH” growled extra diphthongated pronunciation of Yeah. Metal \m/
It is my contention that many forms of rock (with the possible exception of punk & headbanger rock) are related to, influenced by, or originated in classical music. Indeed, other genres of music such as jazz have also been influenced by the classics. this is a topic that can take more than a few hours to talk about & discuss. I'm sure you know what I mean as you gave an indication of the depth of your understanding of music when you found out about wagnerian rock, and said, in passing, "see, it's all related (verbatim). Some proof of this concept is, of course, Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", and even "Love of my life" by the same. Even Metallica's "Enter the Sandman" and Nothing Else Matters" have found interpretations in the classical style. By the by, your reactions are detailed, well studied and well thought out. You are also one of the few that bother to learn about the creators, performers and story behind the music. So much more than just a vocal coach, you are at once an artist and an artiste.
I started playing guitar thanks to this song’s intro. Best ever for me. In the original video, the last instrumental section last a lot more and it has 1 BILLION views…so yes: this song it’s pretty famous XD
Elton John recently called this one of the best melodies ever written
They did a whole album with an orchestra, and one of the songs they did is called No Leaf Clover, you should check that one out
I saw them live at a Lollapalooza in 1996 but haven't followed them since. James sounds quite a bit different here than he did back then. I remember his voice being a lot stronger when he was younger.
Its not his best years :/ Still love him and James still is Greatest rhythm guitarist of all time at least :)

biggest Metal band in the world, for sure. Rock is the meta-genre, but it isn't really fair to lump them in with rock greater, as they were one of the "big four" pioneering thrash metal.
If you are shocked with this one, please, PLEASE
Try with FADE TO BLACK, his first powerballad 🤤😍
I remember when this album came out
Biggest metal band, maybe, but if you are just talking rock then I would have to say Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. They have been performing for 60 years or so and were still selling out venues.
Metallica has such a huge collection of awesome music!
lots of stops...for a complete Metallica listening experience, don't stop the music. And never, EVER stop the song during the guitar solo, that goes for any band.

Simply in my fan opinion of Metallica for 40 + years they ARE the biggest band in the world. They tour constantly. Fun fact Maggie. Metallica is the only band in history to play all 7 continents in 1 year. A Metallica concert isn't just a concert. It's an event. They always get the crowd involved to sing along and put on 2 and a half hour killer show. My favorite Metallica song is "Battery" it's a great thrash song. You want the other side of Metallica react to it. They trick you into a false sense of calmness with the acoustic intro. Then they unleash all hell and it's fast! Check out their performance of "Battery" from the Seattle 1989 concert. It's faster which you don't think possible. Welcome to the Metallica family! Great reaction!

A few months ago Metallica was on Howard Stern with Mylie Cyrus playing this song, celebrating the 30th anniversary of this song (and album). Mylie had recorded this song for her album and her producer contacted Elton John to do a piano intro and outro for the song instead of doing guitars on it. Elton zoom called into Howard Stern show while Metallica was there and said it was a no brainer doing the piano parts on this song because he thinks it is one of the best songs ever written. James, who wrote the song, was visibly moved at hearing Elton say this. Then Elton went on to say that Metallica is one of the best rock bands of all time. It was a special interview for sure.
