- Now that the season is underway, it's time for SEC teams to get in another visit to the SEC Fairy Godmother. While she is able to grant a wide range of wishes, which ones a team wishes for will vary wildly based on how this season is going.

Last week I posted that as a Pennsylvania dad paying Mizzou tuition, my head was cheering for the Tigers, but my SEC Shorts heart was pulling for Vandy just so that the Commodore skits continue. “My Wish” was granted as I got the best of both worlds!

I think Vandy has the biggest unofficial fan base. I think every, even the opposing team, want to see Vandy win. Watching Vandy win is like seeing a puppy running through a field of flowers on a sunny day, you just can't help but smile.

Agreed, except when they are playing your SEC team. A coach can survive a losing season until Vandy beats him, then he is gone.
Same reason I root for Wake Forest and Duke (football only). Probably my all-time fave, though, is Rice. Back in the SWC days, watching the Marching Owl Band (MOB for those unfamiliar) was a high point - especially compared to the Showband of the Southwest. Not only did they not take themselves seriously, they were a freakin' hoot to watch. C'mon, tell me that an upright double-bass with a wheeled peg as part of a marching band, with a march/hop/march cadence, and whose routines poke the other team directly in the eye, isn't the greatest thing ever. I dare ya. ;)
Virginia Tech fan here, pulling for Vandy
So, I used to go to every Tennessee-Vandy game in Nashville as a kid. I remember one game in the early 2000s where Vandy started to win and there were people in front of me that took of UT orange and had Vandy under it. No joke. Most were Vandy fans pretending to be Tennessee fans. (This was during Fulmer era when TN was still good and Vandy hadn't broke the streak yet). Tennessee won the game but I think it came down to a single score.
To the Auburn QB who said he was gonna dominate Arkansas, i just want to say thank you for throwing the ball to our defense so many times, very generous fella!!

@Heartwing37 I completely understand. It is just like last year, good on offense and mediocre on defense, while giving the opponent's team is wide open in coverage every time in the 1st half. We have to get off the field on defense if we stand a chance against Ole Miss in 2 weeks.
