    The motivation for this video came out of many comments and online clients asking for more examples of how I use bands in a workout along with instruction. While I mention at the start as being a "follow along workout", this video primarily is meant to show and explain how I'd take a simple band set up like this and drive fatigue with limited exercises, reps, sets, and time. Rest between sets was minimal to gather my breath and compound sets had little to no rest between exercises. The whole workout took about

    Haven’t done a follow along with you in a while. This was fun. I have to take it easy due my recent wrist surgery. Great point mike, if other muscles begin to take over, or you have to break form to finish, that’s failure. Great video mike. God bless bro.

    Hi Hybrid Resistance, love the workout outside in the park and in the sun it has to be a great place to get in tune with nature and build a powerful body you get more energized being outdoors with all that fresh air and warm environment.

      Amen Wilfredo. Although I just got to walk outside today, I've been bad this summer about doing more outdoor workouts. Some of my favorite workouts are just out to an open field with some toys.

    I use a home-made x3 style system. I have been recently playing with "drop" sets.
    On the first set or two ill go heavy, 8-12 reps. Then ill drop it down a band for the last set or two and go to failure, 12 - 20 reps. Ive noticed that i feel much more sore and my muscles feel way more fatigued when i do this. It does take some more setup and makes my workouts a little longer but its worth it for me.
    I think with bands, because the resistance increases so much over the range of motion, dropping the resistance down for some sets allows you to finish working the top end of the muscle.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 месяца назад +1

      Drop sets are definitely awesome with bands. I definitely found myself overdoing it and paying for it later, but still great fun.

      What size bands do you use. I have standard size 41" and it seems too long for chest and other barbell simulated exercises

    • @itznolimitz
      @itznolimitz 2 месяца назад +1

      @chuck_henry 41 inch, my foot plate is 25" wide so that gives a bit of a pre-stretch. That's the downside about these systems is everyone is different. Some have longer or shorter arms and legs, etc. I personally just invited in a pair of adjustable dumbells and am switching over most of my workouts to dumbbell centric and using bands as a supplement instead of my primary resistance.

      @@itznolimitz I don't have a foot plate. I can't seem to find one so I am using squat blocks or a step or slippers.

      Great comment. I had a different intro to the video (got long winded), where I stressed how you definitely don't need a bar or this set up, but this whole sequence could be done with whatever your band preference would be.

    Legs is a challenge so I save that for the weekends where I am off from work and relaxing so if it taxes me, I can rest. I do upper body during the weekdays because its where I am strongest and I recover faster. Since its a work week it doesn't exhaust me and I can function the next day.

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 месяца назад +1

      My favorite split is upper / lower, so I feel you on that. Aside from recently switching to total body splits (for some experimentation) , some people were asking for a total body band workout, so that's where this workout came to be.

    Thank you for another great video . For hypertrophy how would you compare the band chest press to the push-up with a weight vest?

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 месяца назад +1

      Thanks Marc. I think it really depends on you individually as to how heavy the weight vest is and what kind of band tension we're talking about. You can't really go too heavy with bands without it feeling a little cumbersome for the push ups. But for me, I'd probably opt for the banded push ups. Even on my knees with lighter bands can really light up my chest.

    • @marcvinyard3050
      @marcvinyard3050 2 месяца назад +1

      @@hybridresistance I was thinking of the banded chest press with an X3/Harambe bar rather than the banded pushup compared to pushups with the vest.

    I think you said you don't like anchors but I've started to like doing a standing dip movement to hit the chest. I use it as a finishing exercise after weights. I'm about to take a break from weights again and see if I can use them as a base movement vs pressing.

    • @hybridresistance

      It's more I don't like setting up and messing with door anchors. I do love triceps and pull downs anchored though.

    i've had some great workouts with the band/board/bar setup. someone out there needs to invent a better chest press though, it's never felt right to me
    I think deadlifts aren't great with it either because of the ROM. everything else is great though and if I wasn't more interested in tracking my numbers more granularly i'd have stuck with it exclusively
