I've heard similar claims about getting into time trouble. Supposedly some players, if their position was difficult, would deliberately get into time trouble so that they would be moving faster, which in turn would tend to make their opponent move faster, which in turn would make them blunder. How _you're_ supposed to avoid blundering further is not explained.

I think it works like this: subconsciously you rule out obvious blunders when thinking of what your opponent is going to do and you're so focused on the best moves you think they can do or the moves that seem most likely to happen that when they do a huge blunder there's a decent chance you'll miss it completely.

    1. Ra8+ Nxa8

    4. Nc5+
If black plays Bxc5, the attack on the Queen is over.

    5 Qh4+ Ke8 or Kf8

I feel like I'm disrespecting my opponent when I keep playing on after blundering something as high value as a rook or queen because 99% of the time playing on is a complete waste of time. I'm basically telling them to prove that they can convert.
So I end up walking away from the game unhappy, knowing that I deserved to have lost, and I know they walk away unhappy too. I'd rather just suck it up and take the L.
