Great show and what an awesome collection of retro bikes. The old GTs have a special place in my heart given that I ride a circa 1989 Timberline Al Terra as my daily driver, albeit with wide slick tires, fenders, and a rear rack.
Shared a few swigs of a bottle of Bundy rum with Nathan Rennie after the worlds at Fort bill 2007 awesome guy…. Rennie signed the bottle for me but an angry X broke it out of spite when we split up
Saw Nathan Rennie in a 4 cross race in Cairns in 2004. He crashed out very early in the race, but got back on and finished the run. Miles behind everyone else who had already finished, he back flipped the last jump, just for fun. Only thing I remember about the whole event!
I have an appreciation for the o.g. as well as the restomod. The early to mid 90s was an awesome time to ride. Even though the modern enduro is definitely needed for any trails near me. Unless youre a sadomasochist. 😂
Amazing to see these incredible bikes from an age of such rapid development in mtb technology, brilliant event, great to see Rennie there. It was a golden age for the sport and the nostalgia hits hard for me.
loved the karakoram and zaskar le bikes. back in the early 90's when i was a mid teen my local bike shop had a karakoram for sale 2nd hand (was the orange splatter one) for £400 uk if i remember. i would have loved to have been able to buy it but alas i couldn't afford it. i did get to try it out on a quick ride though. also the shop sponsored a rider with the older zaskar (with the black zaskar on the downtube) man i would have loved to be able to afford one of those but again being a skint teen no chance lol. it wasn't all bad though as i did upgrade from my 1988 dawes ascent 15 speed mtb to a 1992 marin eldridge grade dx (zolatone black front and red gloss rear). awesome bike that was.
Wow great show Im sorry I missed it. That Gen 1 V10 with the monsters was killer. The SC candy apple frames look amazing. I still remember when Nathan won the WC overall, he did an interview with AMB wearing this old school gangsta white suit and hat funny as.Strange thinking of Nathans SG as vintage. Nige does SA have a vintage bike museum? Im new too SA .
My first bike ..a GT arrowhead..bought in 1996 ish....then in 2004 traded in my arrowhead for a Kona Dawg primo ..which I still own and still ride.but not like I used to,I am 51 😂
I don't think we had many prairie breaker shogun here in Canada, at least I can't remember... I bet you don't have lots of devinci or rocky mountains in Australia 😂
Wow so many good bikes! Great to see Rennie there!

love it, I had a 1997/8 Mongoose nx8.3 in blue, great trail bike, not so good for going down hill though, lol.
