Epic Trail - Melrose | How much EMTB battery will you need? | Remarkable Epic!
Просмотров 9747 месяцев назад
This is my experience doing the Remarkable Epic with a Shimano EP6 with 630wh Battery. All bikes will be different same as rider weight, if you can change your setting via an App, I’d recommend that. If you have a 720 or bigger battery you’ll be sweet. If you have smaller than 630wh, I’d be doing it in Eco all the way. Also if you’re female and light, I’d say if you have a 500wh or over you sho...

The North Face climb was done on mid- trail setting 4 and 5, Shimano EP6 630wh battery, fine tune of mix 45-55 nm. Reached to top to do. Bale Out with 65% battery. The decent used only 5% so made it back to Melrose show grounds with 50% battery.

Hey mate, do these bikes come with the display screen ?
@@Phillipsie83 yes it’s with the Shimano steps motors
!!!
I have a black and blue 1994 Giant Yukon .
Wish I was there, I got my year 2000 Schwinn Rocket 88 now, all built up, only thing different from 2000 is it now has wider 760mm bars, and converted to 1x set up.
Sounds like a beast. The 1x always makes it better too 👌
Perfect ending...😅
@@rexwilliamson7583 I did say that 😂
The fade on the paint gives it character. Looks great!!
Just found one of these in UK after looking for a while. Picking it up tonmorow. It has Deore XT V brakes and levers so will be keeping those. The Forks are Rockshocks but are nothing special so will be changing them. What do you recommend? I know a lot of these older forks need rebuilding.
@@epexlinux really depends on what you find and your preference. I like Judy forks, also Bombers, just try get the correct period as later model forks can have a little too much crown offset and maybe a little too much travel so the geo of the frame won’t suit and will affect the bikes handling and ride quality
Just finished 98 GT Avalanche. Fully pollished 7005 frame took me mounths to do. Got all the parts you recomended and had a good local bike shop fit them. Has rigid forks and 1x10. The bike is a dream to ride with a modern drive chain and the deore lx v brakes are amazing. Thanks to your help and channel I was able to do this. I did not even know this could be done on old GTs. Thankyou Mate
@@epexlinux awesome mate that’s so good to hear. Glad to be of any help, that’s the whole point of the channel. Enjoy the Avalanche, awesome bikes 🙏
Do you still have the backwoods flame job? Really would like one of those. I never see them for sale anywhere in the UK
@@epexlinux no I’ve sold it sadly to make room for newer projects.
Hi Nige, did I just hear they were put in the washing machine? Haha. Top loader? How long would the soles last? Could you wear them everyday, everywhere as regular shoes? Are they heavy like skate shoes? Do they feel like joggers? I'm hunting around for good quality, hard wearing and light enough shoes that I could walk around in them everywhere and anywhere. I wouldn't buy MTB specific shoes to only wear when riding, I'd prefer the above mentioned scenarios/uses. I thought I'd ask all those questions because it's a fair chunk of change for my limited budget and I don't want to stuff it up. It may sound odd to want mtb specific shoes but also to wear them everywhere as that's probably not their intended purpose but I want to be able to walk comfortably off the bike too and even go for a walk or go grocery shopping etc... Thank you for your video.
Me I am a Big Fan from Retro mtb Mongoose IBOC`s like the Comp SX from 1995 and 1996 have al so Pro SX from 1994. And had al so an 1993 Mongoose Amplifer . And know I am building a Mongoose IBOC Comp SX 1996 in Polished Alloy with Hope parts on it and Magura HS33 brakes. The hubs are White Industries But the fork is an Fox from the yaer 2006. I gone make the bike a Single speed. Nice to see in Australia mine bird place lived in Adelaide, but now in the Netherlands a long time. Nice Fantastic video........The Retro MTB are still alive around the World.....

I have a RTS-2 all original new condition a true time capsule if anyone is interested

Thank you for the review just ordered one pair for 60€
I have a RTS 2 I want to sell if anyone is interested.
I just ordered GT Grade Sport in green. I'm afraid GT is going away for a bit. Time will tell. Got 94 Timberline FS that I use on easier trails.
Just purchased my second iDrive 0.0 and Avalanche is next
Solid stuff! I have a Husqvarna MC2 with a EP6 motor and i've found the tuning kinda difficult to understand. Hopefully your tuning works somewhat what i want out of my bike.
Love my old GT Backwoods MTB!! Rebuilt it over K0\/!D, and glad I did!!
Bike industry is in colapse...for sure...a loot of brands diseaper in next period.
Hi Nige, do you know where the next one of these will be held?
@@g_mack not sure where yet, but good chance it may be the same venue again
@nigehill was this at o halloran hill? I am actually devastated I didn't know about this At my local trails too hahaha
@ yeah at OHH. My guess it will be there again due to the pumptrack but to keep up on the retro scene happenings, join the retromtbsa (pre 2000) Facebook group. 👍
@nigehill thanks mate.
The rattle must drive you mad?!?
Nice one, i have not been out there for a couple of years everyone keeps telling me the new tracks are good ill have to go have a sus one day
@@Scotts_Singing_Sends they’re pretty fun, very mellow like OHH but still good. If you’re after some fast steep stuff like Kangas, there’s something a little further south that’s 🤫😉

Have to go check out that new one, wasn’t open when I was there last. Best shady trails for summer riding!

What's the biggest chainring ypu could fit on that which work work for a gravel build
@@trailwayfilms that’s up to you, I’ve fitted a 32 for MTB riding. No reason why you couldn’t go as big as a 116 link chain allows
Cool cheers. I'm not very knowledgeable on bikes but I've got the same crank as you was worried about the clearance of a 40t ring on the frame
Really nice job.
niceeeee - looks stunning bro
Nice, I’m gonna try this with my cadex road bike, Love the snake skin look!
Thx Nice video
Those colors look so good. Have seen a team GT Tequesta for sale same colors but has scratches
Was this the 440 meter track or the 1.2k one?
1.2 km one
So have now got an mt800 bottom bracket that screws into my 1990 timberline but I think need some spacers as it is longer than the width of frame The frame is 68mm. The mt800 only came with 1 small spacer. Do you know how I can make it work?
@@epexlinux the BB is usually 68-73 so should fit but you may need to find a couple more spacers for the off side. Look on eBay if you can’t get through bike shop
@nigehill thanks Nige will give it a go
Have now got more spacers but don't know what side to use them on for the correct chainline spacing. I am thinking 1 on the drive side and 1 on the other side.
Does this derailer need an adaptor to fit onto an old GT frame? Also you mentioned some spacers for the crank? Any help would be apriciated.
@@epexlinux no the derailleur hanger is universal. You just need 51mm spacing chain line or if you convert and older square taper crank, mount the chainring where the middle chainring would go
4:58 Does not bother me the side angle because when i sit down my weight will make the nubs flat on the ground.
Do you know the model number of the deore crank to get the chainline correct?
@@epexlinux it’s a Deore M5100 crank
@@nigehill Thanks for reply, would this work with a 10 Speed deore cassette am also looking at a Microshift XLE Mech, not sure if this would work
@ yeah I dont see why not
does anyone know the model of the crankset with a 51mm chainline? everything i find online is 52mm...
