Battle of the pianos 2: Pure Upright vs Ravenscroft vs Pure Piano

  • I attached e-instruments' Pure Upright and Pure Piano and UVI's Ravenscroft 275 to my Kawai Digital Piano simultaneously to see how they each perform given the same input from a proper piano keybed.
    I've selected a preset sound from each of them that I would choose if i was going to play that instrument as the sound source. Yes further tweaking is possible but I wanted to showcase what you get 'out of the box' from these pianos rather than creating something very specific in order to do the comparison. Each piano has it's own pros and cons so it depends what you want for your project (and for me, I use different pianos in different projects).
    The playing is... not great. I compare it to a concert pianist wearing oven gloves........ Sure I could have edited in the best takes but this is all about the piano sounds rather than the profiency (or lack thereof) of my rusty playing.

    I listened without looking at the screen so I really paid attention to the differences.
    I think what I take away from this Si is they all have a very distinct job to do. Pure is warm, upright softer and ravenscroft much more punchy. All outstanding piano plug ins,
    But most of all, enjoyed listening to you play! Thanks for sharing matey!

    Thanks for the review, I already have de Pure Piano app, but I think is nice to have both of them (pure and ravenscroft), it depens what specifically sound you need for a different songs, thanks again, great comparison 👍🏻

    Thanks, that was useful for me. Always liked Ravenscroft but I notice both pure’s are on sale at the moment with the new upgrades so think I’ll grab them as they sound lovely too. Cheers

    Very cool demonstration! thank you; I would be hard out to choose, but as far they sound right here , right now, for my money the Pure piano seems a little brighter and fuller, just iMO

    ++Thank You for a really great comparison of the top pianos for IOS! I am looking to invest in the best one, and to find that one for me is not that easy, But videos like yours relly help on the way! Appreciate this video alot, and also you play very well! :)

      Glad you found it useful. In my opinion, Pianoteq is even more realistic, but it's significantly more expensive (although you can download the demo version for free). I am planning on doing a new comparison with a few more piano options, just need to get practicing again first ;).

    I actually enjoyed the upright the most at the end. Its just what im used to at Home and those ocean Deep bass strings of a grand piano are just too much for the living room.
    That aside, this was the perfect comparison, i was looking for!

    Came here to listen pure piano cause i didnt know it , imo all of them are great but Ravenscroft is the closest one to sound like a real piano, Ravenscroft is a little more bright than the others but you can simply eq a little if you dont like it, the thing with Ravenscroft is that the resonance and overall sound is more realistic

    ..to me...over the internet...it seems like the Ravenscroft has a "Brighter" sound...and I like the "Deeper" more complex sound of the Pure product....

      Thanks for watching NYB! I find Ravenscroft tends to be a brighter and livelier sound. I find Pure Upright to be a warmer fuller sound.

    In your opinion, how do they compare to the best sound in your Kawai piano and to what degree (if any) are they better???

    • @SiEffen
      @SiEffen  Год назад

      From a playing point of view I always found myself returning to the 'studio grand' sound on my Kawai instead of either. They sound OK in themselves; Ravenscroft tends to be better if you want a crisp bright sound and Pure upright as a warmer softer sound. I preferred the experience of the built-in sounds. To date only Pianoteq has given me the experience as well as the sound, but that's at a very different price-point.

    Can you still play the pure piano with the iphone screen off?

    • @SiEffen
      @SiEffen  Год назад +1

      As long as you go into the settings menu and activate the option "Run App in Background" it should work. It does on iPad anyway. Hope that helps.
