I think Blue beetle is a breath of fresh air and a good start for the dcu. The comedy and emotion mixed together perfectly. I’ll give it an 8/10

This thing really doesn’t deserve to flop. People judge it way too quickly before even seeing it
I don't think it was people judging it, I thought because of the strike going, warner brothers couldn't advertise the movie like that, so people aren't hearing about it to go see it, maybe I'm wrong.

@jeremykamalani My brother, Blue Beetle, isn't doing that good in the theatres all. And its opening day numbers are even lower than the Shazam 2 movie. So it's a hunch of mine that there will be no sequel to Blue Beetle for a long time.

Just saw it. I def agree with u. It's my favorite DC film of the year.
Jaime’s dad death was one of the saddest I’ve ever seen. Literally made me fight my tears. The way his sister was screaming for her dad to not leave them sent me chills and also Jaime couldn’t do anything to help just seeing that it said his dad was suffering a “cardiac arrest” through his suit then the scene where u hear defibrillators trying to bring his dad back was truly devastating 😭 As a Mexican myself I felt their emotions when their dad passed away that’s what made me tear up because we care about our loved ones deeply and we are always together as a family like Jaime’s family. I can’t explain how I truly want.

The reaction of the family helped a lot with the feeling of that scene and the fact that Jaime couldn’t be there with his dad when he passed

I agree with everything you said. It wasn't perfect/flawless, but the films heart was in the right place. Solid 8/10, fun film. Hope James Gunn makes Blue Beetle the first DCU film. Also, I'm a Simp for Jenny Kord now.
It's funny you mention ben 10,the grandmother reminded me of grandpa max when she was holding the big gun in front of her grandkid (just like max in episode 13 of season 1).

Blue Beetle is my favourite DC movie to come out by far! I loved the family aspects of it and their humour was what made the movie for me. When the emotional parts hit, they hit like a truck, especially the dad's death. The emotional beats kind of reminded me of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, like when the villian had a change of heart and sacrificed himself. My theory is that this movie will lead directly into the Booster Gold TV show as I know he and Ted Kord work together in the comics. Booster Gold is a time traveller and he probably dragged Ted along with him on his adventures, that's why he has been missing for so long. So I think Jaime will make an appearance in this show and work with the original blue beetle. James Gunn did say that Blue Beetle would be in the DCU moving forward so I think this would be a perfect project for the character to be a part of. I love Blue Beetle and I hope we get to see him again!

It's an original movie, the plot ain't too overcomplicated. The side characters are fun and normal,and is a beautifull love story. And fun to watch with your family and friends. I wish there were more DC movies like this.

It's a solid 7/10 for me. The only issues are that it's a bit predictable and for some reason, I didn't like his sister, but that might just be me.

You know what I’ve realised the writers cleverly made sure that the movie never actually said that Ted Kord is dead they just made us all think that he was dead making it an even better reveal
It’s so crazy that you also drew comparisons with Ben ten to the blue beetle movie. When I was watching it I couldn’t help but think that when jaimes suit wouldn’t power up it reminded me of how the Omnitrix needs to recharge
Gotham does have one of the most prestigious colleges in the DC universe (I’m basing this off of the Young justice series where Dick, Barbara and Artemis went to the same school and it was a prestigious school)

It was the BEST DC movie ever since The Dark Knight Rises and a Great Start for the DCU!
I really enjoyed the movie, despite some people in my theatre talking way too much, the movie is by no means perfect but I legitimately really loved the family dynamic, most of the action, the VFX, the and Latino representation. Xolo Mariduena knocked it out of the park as Jamie and is such perfect casting. Nani was also such a standout character and a total GOAT. I was also shocked that they killed Jaime's dad in the first movie
The villains were pretty generic, though I do think Cararpax had a bit more of a slightly interesting character, but it's a shame they dive more into it because it feels like there was potential in his character.
Hopefully if they give us a sequel than I hope we see the Reach in the sequel and possibly Ted Kors has been imprisoned by them for so long.

In the animated series Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Jaime goes to college in Gotham too, and he gives his reason. It's in the episode Night of the Huntress
Something I wanna see in the next movie is the family seeing Jaime’s exposed junk for a second time, it’s hot so they’re drooping, and they still think he’s small, but Rudy defends Jaime saying he’s a grower not a shower. And then if they make a third movie, they repeat this joke but this time they unfortunately see him hard and Rudy gives Jaime a high five

Why Gotham , well I am sure Bruce would do a big investment to Gotham’s education and it would be cheap both for citizens of Gotham and people from other cities , cause you know …… GOTHAM , so if you are willing to close your eyes about the crazies and stay 24/7 on campus, which might be one of the safest places in Gotham ,if that university is built by Bruce , and it’s another way for Bruce to honour his parents. Plus the tuition for this place will be sky high , you might turn out having a good degree and amazing skills earned for a relatively low price.

I saw this movie and I just gotta say that it’s a shame it’s not making more money. I think after multiple flops general audiences just don’t trust DC anymore. Which is a shame, but sadly kinda understandable. This is a great standalone film, and a great film to kick off the DCU.
