Don't even touch this game, at first you say to yourself you'll just start doing some free to play quests for the nostalgia, after that sweet, sweet nostalgia heroin you'll think to yourself, I'll just complete dragon slayer and then I'll do something else. But no. You'll spend 11 dollars on membership so you can do monkey madness and get that sweet dragon scimmy everyone's talking about. 2 years later and a couple 99's later your looking at yourself in the mirror and realize you've lost your wife, your job and even the dog. Now all you can do that feels like fun is stake a couple billion at the dueling arena and after the cash is gone you'll have nothing.

I always get into it every two/three years or so and get addicted for like a month. Then get bored, ignore for two/three years

Kevin if you Message Celine Lion in game she says she will give you any free to play gear if you let her know what you need... she said she only gives Gear up to "Black sets" though because she wants people to learn things for themselves.... completely up to you though, she helps all returning and new players in the same way. oh... she also hands out purple capes and boots, ect

Haha. I had a guy on a newbie character begging to my friend for free stuff and bothering her and I told him to stop so he kept telling me to PvP him. It was actually fun, the whole thing was laced with humor. He then logged into his main, turning out to be a long time rich player and gave me 1 mil and a hat. Which I promptly lost cuz I died and didn't put it any of it in the bank because I didn't know I'd lose all my stuff. RIP.

If you were to play OSRS another time, my suggestion would be to go to The Grand Exchange (in Varrock) and sell your runes. You will have plenty of money to buy a full set of Iron armour, a Amulet of Strenght and an Iron scimitar.
After that you should go slay your way to the last chest in the Barbarian Village dungeon (Stronghold of Security) for the grand price of 10k coins and some rather fancy boots. That would be a fun episode to follow up on this one :D
But whatever the topic may be, if you make another OSRS video, I'm looking forward to watching it :D
he cant sell the runes unless he has 7qp or 24hours of ingame time and the game is really grindy on f2p and not afkable in that state of the game
@@huntershonour2433 You are completely right, I forgot about that. Although he can still sell the runes to a general store, as he did in the video, and just change worlds every 50-60 runes sold. It would be 10 very boring minutes, but still doable :) As to buying the previously mentioned gear, knowing Kevins wits and the Runescape community, he could easily just go to the Grand Exchange in a heavy populated world, and patiently ask for a few minutes if he could buy the armor and the str ammy.
Then again for new players, the most fun lies just in going where the game takes you, and doing things your own way.

If you sell the holiday stuff you got on the Grand Exchange you can probably get at least 50,000gp for the lot. I wouldn't turn down more of these videos.

this gives me so much nostalgia. I remember my older cousins playing runescape together and I was ALWAYS watching them until one day they finally made me an account and let me play with them. My cousin passed away last year so this really just makes me so happy to watch and relive the game

Funny thing, begging in OSRS is a means to make money for some people. It was at first a meme, then it wasn't, because some Venecuelans could make more money by begging and then trading away RS gold to actual money than they could make by working in their country. It's funny, but it really isn't fun.

absolutely loved this game as a kid. i remember playing it with my best friend in 4th grade and my inventory was filled with cooked shrimp. ahh yes.
Believe me it's just not the same anymore, still a great game but the player base has grown up and exploring and having fun isn't everyone's main goal anymore, efficiency is, and that kills some of the fun tbh

You can climb the ladder at every floor entrance in the stronghold to get out. Also I recommend doing 2 factor as the stronghold has good rewards.
Also sell things to the 'Grand exchange" northwest of Varrock, it's a lot better

@@AeonsAlex. it's true - the price has dropped A LOT. Each colour is worth a different amount, but they range from 2k to 12k each. Santa Hat is 13k.
BUT if Kevin thought that 28 gp was riches than he'll loose his mind over the sale of the phats haha

My friend had me make an account on Runescape last week. As soon as I exited the tutorial, a man said hi in the chat and when I replied he gave me 200,000 gold for being nice. He wound up leading us all over the map and teaching us how to play- I honestly think it's just one of the nicest fandoms :)

Just started playing this game again, already level 89 combat. Having such a blast.
Love how he interacts with only npc's when trying to buy and sell stuff.
'It's not like this is mmorpg where most trading happens between people.
I mean trading and mbs and what not always work diff in mmorpgs which can be quite a hassle to figure out as a newbie if you just wanna get a sword and vendor some stuff to continue exploring and such. So I always first go to npc shops as well when I'm new to an mmorpg until I've figured stuff out more.

I made all my money from the grand exchange. Taking everyone's ashes from their fires. Building my own fires, collecting my own ashes and selling them, up the price by 1 or 2 coins, and they would sell. Sell half my runes, take the price down by 1 or 2 and Immediately be sold. Or just put them up and overnight someone would purchase them. That's how I made my $$$$. I always thought how they were cheeky with their membership stuff. My cousin got free membership for being one of the first ever players. He had all this armour, but once it ran out he couldn't wear it. He had to sell it, was such a good quality piece too. Had soo much stuff that had to be sold. He was so highly skilled that towards the end of old "before they modernised" runescape, he would mentor new players for a fee. Get them up to a specific level and assist them with their quests until they felt ready to go solo. He was a decent player.
I'm still a bit of a noob myself but here's some tips I've picked up:
If you sell to the main shopkeeper/merchant the price won't change
Always check the value of an item before you sell it, some things are completely worthless in gold but valuable in crafting
Don't sell bones, use them to level your character
Carry food with you at all times
Change the setting of what you hold onto when you die so that you keep a weapon (you keep 3 things)
Never carry more than 100 gold unless you are on the way to purchase something
Humanoid enemies drop gold and no one in the cities cares if you kill the unnamed NPCs
Mining and Blacksmithing are the best way to get gear
