Personally, I chose to upgrade and trade my 12 inn for the 13. However, had I chosen the 13R I wouldn't feel short-changed. Agreed, the 13R is more of a flagship killer. Conversely, the 13 is a true flagship. The 13R is missing features such as quad HD display, wireless charging, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, ip68 rating and a few other things that keep it from being a flagship. Still, some of those features aren't important to some people. Moreover, at the price point, who can argue?
Hi Mark- hope you are doing well been watching for a long time now. Thanks for giving the 13R attention, I was thinking about getting the 13 originally but you've convinced me to get the 13R. You reminded me that Flag ship killer phones were known for having prices around the 5-$600 price range vs the 13 starts to get into premium phone pricing. The only weaknesses that this phone has imo are lack of wireless charging and the camera but I'm okay with both things, plus coming from the 12R we get that upgrade with the telephoto instead of the stupid macro lens as you have mentioned don't know why that's a thing. I don't wireless charge often nor do I care that the pictures have the most amazing quality it's not like we are getting flip phone quality and I remember those days. All in all I think you get your moneys with this phone and am excited to get my hands on it.
@@MarksTech. So far it's been great. I just wish it would have came with a case inside the box. Love the phone.... I've been rocking 1 plus since the 6T
Oh and it's January 2025 and my Google Pixel 8 still has the issue where any 4K vide I watch comes out super saturated and ruins the video watching experience. I have to put it to 2k or 1080p for HDR to work properly! That's a testament to "Googles Long Term Support" and charging 2-3 time a day sucks for this hard warmer. OnePlus OnePlus OnePlus OnePlus.
@MarksTech definitely like the battery overall the phone is pretty darn good I have the pixel here so that kind of switch back and forth also the s24 ultra that I guess I'll be trading in shortly.
I always loke the look of that green op12 i wanted that phone bad last year but went with 12r snd 12r has been best phone ive owned since hauwei mate 20x
I bought two 13R's, one black and one "Astral" silver-is, one with the free watch and the other with free earbuds. Great phone. One critique on the video review here, the 13 and 13R do both have 6000 mAh batteries, but they are different. The 13 uses a dual-cell setup of silicon-carbon structure lattice batteries with a big window of temperature variation to operate in, while the 13R uses a single-cell silicon-carbon battery that's similarly built structure-wise to a typical lithium-ion battery. However both phones use the same vapor-chamber active cooling modules above the batteries. Anyway, good review, and yes the 13R, at least at this moment, is a flagship killer.
I just got mine today from pre-ordering on the 7th. Just started using it and so far, it seems speedy like most Oneplus phones are. They really never slow down. My only curiosity and question would be with the battery. So oneplus makes it a selling point with the regular 13 to state it is a carbon silicon battery, it does not confirm or state the same with the 13R. As a reviewer that has better contact with the company, can you please verify this? Some reviewers state that it does, however on oneplus website under specs, only the 13 states to have silicon carbon battery.
I’m interesting in switching over from my iPhone if Argos decides to start selling them, cause I can’t afford it all in one go 😌do they take the same Sim card as a iPhone?
It doesn't have the silicone battery and it doesn't charge fast. This is the first single cell lithium ion battery that OnePlus has used in 5 years. The OnePlus 12R with a 5,500 mah battery charged to 100% in 25 minutes. The 13R has a 6,000mah battery that charges to 100% in 50 minutes. That's a 10% increase in battery capacity but a 40% decrease in charging times. Not exactly a deal breaker but definitely a heart ache. Super fast charging was OnePlus's most unique feature. It's disappointing that they left it out
Something to mention is the 12R came with a 80W charger so of course it's gonna charge way faster. I have no idea why OnePlus decided to give the 13R a 55W charger instead
@eze9081 eh, they kind of cheese the numbers for charging power. My 10 Pro is capable of 60w charging. I have a meter hooked up to my charger. The phone charges at 60w for no more than 30 seconds. Spends a minute or two at 50w. 40w from 8% battery up to 52%. 30w up to 65%. 19w up to 85. And 15w up to 100% The 12R probably charges as fast with a 55w block as it does with an 80w
@erik791 nowhere On the OnePlus website is a silicone battery mentioned for the 13R. By comparison 13 listing mentions it multiple times. The 13R does not have a silicone battery
After 1 day of using, the only 2 cons I have are; the speakers ARE worse then the 12R, and the fingerprint location is worse, but not because it doesn't work but because the 12R has the perfect location. Overall, loving the phone, 0 lag compared to the 12R that was a bit jittery from time to time. (RAM probably since it would use the 128gb as RAM) Overall I'm totally happy with this phone and I love having a 6.7ich slab in my pocket again! Oh and last point, if full charge takes about 50mins with their fast charger, it feels almost about the same using any regular charger even if you are limited to 18w charging when not using their supercharger that does 80W. Oh yeah but the camera definitely looks better than the 12r, maybe not as good as the 12, but the 12R was a joke of a camera! And battery life is rock solid.
@@guidine7 I honestly think the 12R is more refined, BUT the specs made it laggy. Whereas, the 13R feels buttery smooth, but they cut back some of the features that the 12R already had!?!? Like the 100W charger, the finger print location, the SPEAKERS! Like Why would they do that??? The speakers sound so tinny on the 13R, it's my biggest dissapointment with the phone. When the 12R was the BEST speaker I'd ever heard on a budget phone! I'm confused but I disliked the 12R for a ton of reasons and this phone seems to solve it all except for those little weird points. Still a budget banger, but so odd for them to regress.
I have 12r and that phone has been excellent for me no bugs I loved it but decided I wanted the better camera so I got the 13.i do love the feel of the 13 but the 12r was such a beast looking phone if it didn't have curved screen I would have probably never gotten op13

I beg to differ on best buy having the best deal. I ordered mine directly from OnePlus for $599 and got a free OnePlus watch 2R and also $180 cash back on a trade in.
I have OnePlus 10R and bought it about 3 years ago, do you think upgrading to 13R would be a perfect choice and rest everything is great but I'm more concerned about the camera, I'm not a video guy but I click a lot of pictures and I like getting my pictures clicked so do you think it's worth the upgrade?
@@QUANTRELLBISHOP today I went to a nearby store and checked it for myself, the cameras are a big upgrade in comparison with my current 10R even the front camera was working amazingly, the pics and video even from selfie shooter were a lot crispy and detailed, I loved the camera and it's worth the upgrade.
It R I hope because I have a 13r coming in a few days with a set of free buds and $100 off any trade in (off the One Plus site). I would have done an early bird $50 deposit but the whole thing sounded sketchy even though I guess it was not.
