In this episode I'll remove the old stairs and finish the structural work to the floor by completing the double trimmer to form a landing for the new stairs
I had my painting business for 50 years, now retired, and apart from one builder, it would have been a pleasure working for you. The work you do is ,well carried out and you don’t cut anything. Richard I think is brilliant how he works things out, don’t tell him as wage rise could be requested.Hope I haven’t wasted your time. Sounds like Baggie’s supporter, got to be good.
I appreciate all the efforts you go to for better quality video's. The audio and video are extremely good, i think most people understand you guys are builder's not steven spielberg
Have I missed an episode or two, but have you finished the big build with the garden room at the top of the garden. The last time I saw that a retaining wall was being built. This is a most informative series for builders and DIY folks like me. Learnt a lot so thanks very much.
That top landing is original, if it were a winder it would have a newel post, the angled shadow mark is from a small cover string to carry the skirting detail up the last step of the quarter landing.
Hi Sally and thanks for commenting on the channel. I was told it was different to next door hence my opinions about what it may have looked like prior to the extensions in the 70s and 80s There’s a lot of change happened to those stairs which was evident when the ceiling came down below or at least someone has tried to do something with it very badly 😁👍🏻
Are you and the guy with silver hair one of the same confused Anyway your vids are so interesting for me a 64 year old to watch love the way you do it correctly every time thanks rob
Nice job again "Alan" !! Reckon you won this weeks prize for retro-adding joist hangers in an old house !! Not the easiest project, but you done it "belt an braces" too.
Come on fella’s 30k subscribers and Adam back in his house before Christmas🤞🏻🎉🎄. Another helpful video for the renovation we’re doing currently. I wanted to pick you brains about the cork render used at Adam’s house & if it’s worth it?
If you contact us via email I’m sure Adam will talk you through it no problem at all. 30,000 for Christmas would be great and yes I’m sure Adam will be very happy to get in for Christmas. We hope you, family and friends have a good Christmas.
Some people sit on a Sunday afternoon waiting for strictly results or planet earth 3, me and many others sit here waiting for you guys to drop the next video - brilliant as always! Although it does seem like a lot of effort to gain a meter of space in the cuboard. They don't plan on knocking that bit of wall out do they?
Even though it does seem that way that space will be a great pantry area, that space at the bottom of the stairs was pointless so moving the stairs further into the hallway will look better. The stairs were that bad they needed replacing anyway so it’s all good from the customers point of view. Thanks for commenting and have a good Christmas 🎄🎅
@@mrabuilders6723 it's the house on the other side of the road, they've got a pretty unusual design that I've only ever seen in a few place, plus a green road sign pretty much confirmed it.
Excellent work as always 👍 but just a note on safety. When doing that kind of work in older/period properties the underneath of the stairs can be clad in asbestos boards to protect them in a 🔥 situation. It's never a joy to see it 😔
Hi Rich, after studying the video at point 4.45 on the video the 7x2 with the hanger on is that the end of the timber you cut out in the first video? What do you think the 7×3 was put in for because it looks likes the other 7×2 maybe supporting the wall? All a bit of a mystery 👍👍
Hi Kevin. Didn’t really know where you were going with this comment so I’ve checked the footage at 4:45 and if I’m understanding you correctly the timber that supports the stud wall above to the bathroom is still sat on the wall which runs below my new double 7”x2”. Is that what you mean? However, If your thinking that I’ve cut structure out of the old floor without paying attention to the way it’s all been fitted previously and left the floor unsafe then what I can say is that the mystery you find yourself in has now been solved because I haven’t. Have a good Christmas all the best 👍🏻
Yes I figured out that the 7×2 with the jiffy hanger on appeared to me, to be the end of the new double trimmer that you rested on the old wall in video 1 running parallel to how the stair runs. I could not understand why the 7×3 was supporting unless maybe a wall in another part of the house. I wasn't eluding to the fact you'd undermined the structure just a bit confused by it all.
Thanks for the comment and if you go back and look at our early videos you’ll see that I’ve suffered the misgivings of a saw and got the scars to prove it so I’m always very aware when using it. I can understand your concerns mate and I appreciate it. Have a good Christmas 🎄🎅
You’re not wrong and yes that would be the best idea. They wanted a pantry area which is what they now have. This episode was filmed prior to a change of plan which will be shown later on the channel which involves steels being installed. 👍🏻
Why did you take all the crap out from the floor cavity ? I thought builders were duty bound to fill the cavities with rubble, old bits of wood and dog ends of wire ( with some help from the sparkies ).
You want to get yourself a Bostitch pneumatic "palm nailer" for the joist hangers I promise you that you will be why did I not get one of these 20yrs ago they get into places you cannot with a hammer & no smashed fingers. Milwaukee do a battery one but it's much bulkier which sort of defeats the point. They are only about £30 to £40 & will drive anything from twist nails to 4" nails.
@@mrabuilders6723 I got the bostitch 'strapshot' ppn which is pneumatic also (half the size of the gas battery ones & way more reliable) almost nothing to go wrong with air tools. The strapshot is a bargain at £200 & it paid for itself in the first day. Used a Paslode ppn before & they are just a rage inducing PITFA (well like all Paslode nails guns) in my experience.
Your right it does get noticed when you make more effort and if people don’t like it let them find someone that wants to rush and do a half hearted job instead of. All the best Paul 👍🏻

Makes my day when your vids drop. Love the content, humour and professionalism. Keep it up Rich and co.
Great job Rich, always awesome standards
As usual. Brilliant work, done by a professional. 👌

You to. I'm about to order a staircase from stairbox so I will wait a week or so. All the best
Bloody hell. I knew you were up the midlands way, but just realised the address your working at here!! Childhood village!!!
You’ve recognised the house?

No need for the reply I won't comment again if it causes offence.
Nice work as always but I have some misgivings about your appraisal of the risks posed by the circular saw.

If the customer wants to make the kitchen bigger, wouldn't the wall and door that is supporting the landing need to be removed?

What 360 Laser do you use.

I’ll take a look at those although I am waiting for Hikoki to bring out their positive placement nailer. Have a good Christmas 🎄🎅

You lot aren’t helping a compulsive tool purchaser like me by telling about other tools I should buy. 😂🎄🎅
Would you boys quote for work in Kidderminster?
Hello Zeus, yes, absolutely. Our email is in our bio so feel free to get in touch. Speak soon.
That remote mic ,makes you sound like a brummie 😂😂
Right then it’s gone Kevin who wants to sound like a Brummie 😂
Have a good Christmas 🎄 🎅
I like your attention to work little things make it stand out my boss thinks I'm too niggly but the customers like it

Yeah thought the video and sound quality were good.
Thank you Lee I just need to remember to turn the mic on and off properly 😂👍🏻🎅🎄
