Emily’s realization she has an actual arm pit cracked me up and reminded me of a similar thing with me. I had lost about 20 lbs. One day I was sitting down and touched a knee. I was startled when I felt a bump. I didn’t remember banging it on anything. Right away I thought “oh no! I have a tumor on my knee!”. A few minutes later I realized it was a bone that was no longer covered by a layer of fat! Very nice NSV when these things happen! 🤣 I’m going to check out Factor! Thanks ladies!

Thank you so much. Im so glad I found you. One note about this video- recent scientific studies ( Andrew Huberman PHD) state that taking a maintenance break in your weight loss journey will improve your chances of long term success. The way you have lost weight and then maintained for several months and are now returning to weight loss - is exactly what you need to do to assist your metabolism in adjusting . So I just thought I would let you know You shouldn’t feel like you have “dropped the ball” you have actually been assisting your metabolism in adjusting to your current weight-

Spot on! You have to eat in a calorie deficit to lose weight. Also I would strongly recommend to rather than keep lowering calories try burning more calories by adding in some cardio like walking that way you can create a 200-300 calorie deficit by exercise rather than lowering your calories.

CICO doesn't work for everyone, though, not long-term anyway. Maybe it works for everyone in the short term, or people that get close to goal weight before your body starts making up for it. For me, I know I was doing all the "right" things went I hit a stall that never ended. I tried every advice to break a stall, even reverse dieting as a last ditch effort after trying to break a stall of two years... even being over 300 lbs still.
My family eventually got fed up, even though we do feel better on keto, it's incredibly frustrating doing all the right things for years on end and still needing to lose 100+ lbs. Even though we lost a lot of weight before the stall, not being able to move forward for years is demoralizing... especially when people treat you like you're just lying about what you eat, or are dumb, like you just aren't doing something right.

TY Emily & Sarah for making these videos documenting your Keto lifestyle and being so honest & open. I have implemented your practice of not eating extra fat. I have been tracking my macros and trying to keep my Carbs under 15g/day (5%), keeping my Fat between 50-55g (40%) and then eating around 165g (55%) of Protein plus eating at a DEFICIT! I was finally able to break thru my stall and have started loosing again. I quit Keto a few years ago because I stalled out for months and just got frustrated with carefully documenting my food and not seeing any further progress. I don't know why it didn't dawn on me to not eat extra fat & just rely on the fat that I was trying to loose to fuel my body from day to day. I was doing Keto like my husband was & I think us ladies really need to take a different approach than the guys do. I am only 2.5lbs away from where my Dr said that she'd like to see my weight as a 50yr old gal but personally I would like to see the 160s again. Thanks again & looking forward to your next video.

For coffee options, I am following Dr. Ken Berry's recommendation. Add a tablespoon of Kerry Gold Butter (grass fed cows) and a table spoon of coconut MCT oil in a large metal shakers tin. Take an immersion blender and blend the coffee, butter, and oil, and you get the fats and a coffee with a smooth taste. No insulin spikes from heavy whipping cream. The color looks like it has cream (butter is cream in a different form.)

I totally agree that on keto you can eat more calories while still consuming keto approved foods . I am using a calorie /carb app and try to stay in 1100- 1200 range in calories and one day per week I will indulge in 1300 calories as my cheat day . I have only 10 pounds to loose to weigh 120 pounds . I eat Omad or 2 mad meals per day so all my calories are consumed in my eating window and my last meal ends by 3:00 pm . I will be more flexible once I reach my final weight goal but that will take trial & error to discover that sweet point to maintain final weight . Low glycemic carbs for life and skipping breakfast that is a given . I need to find the total grams of carbs I will need to maintain my weight keep my diabetics permanently In remission .add strength training upper / lower per day & walk only 1 hr per day . Honestly the weight melted off but the challenge and my success will be to maintain for eternity which I will because my alternative reality if I fail will be disability because of diabetics returning which will cause other major health issues such as kidney failure etc & suffering . I will not go softly in the night but will fight bravely & win not to purely exist but to truly live. I am so passionate about this because my brother suffers daily all because of obesity than diabetic 1 than 2 ,heart failure , pace maker , kidney failure, neuropathy, painful dialysis & it kills me inside to see his suffering & pain . This is EXACTLY where I am right now! At 66 years old, I’ve lost 32 lbs in the past 8 months. I’m kind of stuck, going up and down the same 2-4 lbs. but would love to lose about 10 more. I’m pretty “clean Keto,” but I think you’re spot on that I need to watch the extras like HWC, too much cheese, etc. I just started strength training a few times a week, so hopefully with that and being more MINDFUL, as you gals suggest, will help. I absolutely LOVE your videos! Thanks for all the awesome advice! 🥰

I have to track my macros. I know some people don't, but since I have diabetes that I'm trying to control with diet, carb creep isn't about weight loss as much as my health and unseen damage in my body. I agree, though, the little things add up so quickly without any realization of what/how much one is consuming. And I'm now working on those last 10 pounds! They are the most stubborn. 🙂

  • @boondoggle4820

My body hit a certain set point before keto, and it hit a set point after keto, and the post-keto set point is much lower than the standard American diet set point even though I was restricting calories and exercising like crazy. It simply stopped working once I hit a certain set point. The only thing that works to get me beyond that lower set point is extending my time fasting, particularly overnight fasts of at least 36 hours. The only other thing that would work is resistance training. Cardio and counting calories simply doesn’t work for me beyond the adjustment period for my body to simply adjust to running on a reduced number of calories, which is three months tops.

I love factor! I've been using factor since I had my baby 2 years ago. Kept me from eating junk or starving as nursing mom. Also kept my milk supply steady and helped me lose a little pregnancy weight. I switched to keto factor when I started keto and it helped me get a good start. Now that I'm not going to work I don't rely on prepackaged food as much but we still get factor meals for my husband since he just started keto and needs more food than I eat now and takes them to work over night.

I'm just about a year on keto and very close to goal. It's very hard to lose weight at this point, as you point out. I have gotten sloppy and being much more lazy, dirty keto and probably have both carb and calorie creep. It's a balance to try to live at a sustainable weight, while trying to shed the last few pounds. There's no point, IMO, in doing some different kind of eating to push through the last few pounds if I can't continue to eat that way going forward. I've noticed folks doing the Protein Sparing Modified Fast approach to get off a stall and I say kudos to them, but the low calorie days are kind of triggering for me. Your video is very timely for me. Right now I'm looking for a balanced approach that will work for me. You ladies both look amazing.

You can definitely eat too much food on keto and stop losing weight…I am still slowly losing after 76 pounds down, but I have had to adjust my food portions all along the way. Every time I hit a plateau, which has been several times since I started eating the keto plan, I adjust the amount of food I eat and eat less food…I immediately start losing weight again, My goal weight is also 150 pounds…I am currently at 194. I started eating keto in August of 2020. I am 5’6” and probably could decrease my goal weight by 10 pounds, but I will just wait and see what happens along the way. Love your channel…!!!

I also appreciated your tip on another video about the 70/30 rule: 70% of the time, stick with simple, clean meat and veggies eating. 30% of the time, have a bit of indulgence. But keep it sane and watch the portions. Right on, ladies, thank you.

I thought Factor was like other meal kit companies so we were skeptical because I don’t want to have to cook food that comes in a kit! It was delicious, and not even frozen which was also surprising. When I broke down the numbers of buying the ingredients and the time cooking, I realized it’s worth the price. -Em

I am actually eating more calories on keto and still losing weight than I ate before 50 lbs heavier. I use to eat around 1400 calories and couldn’t lose weight. Now I eat around 2000 calories and lose 1-2 lbs a week. I credit the intermittent fasting in addition to the keto.

Lately especially with quarantine I've noticed my weight is trying to creep up but I haven't changed the way I eat. I like that you pointed out that you can't eat the same amount of calories as a 260lb person or you will be 260 lb. that makes so much sense. So if I want to get to the weight that I should be at 120 lbs then I should only be eating what I would normally eat for a person of that weight and maybe less or less fat in order to burn the existing fat, is that right? Maria Emmerich says if you are 5ft 1 in then only eat 80g of protein and 20g of carbs and fat 80 g. makes sense. Thanks You Bunches, HUGS!

Yes, I can relate to what you are saying, my weight is now going between 68.0 kgs to 70.0 kgs, and yes I know I am eating too much at times, I still eat 3 times a day as always hungry, but not as much as I was on a carb diet. So I have lots of options to help with this, ie intermittent fasting, or one meal a day, I just can't see it at this time, but something to think about. Thank you for sharing.
