- I'm a metal guy. My Entire career is built on nasty, gurgly, disgusting vocal noises. So....why am I listening to Post Malone? Well, first, I have a lot of respect for pop music. Second, vocal health is a conversation that is important for all vocalists of all styles. Fingers crossed for Post's vocal cords in the next few years

I know this video probably won't get as many views, but I think it's a video that is important for vocal health.
Thanks for watching!
I always thought his vibrato sounded rather... unrealistic?.. anyway, I'm curious what Mark and Quigs think of Daryl Palumbo from Glassjaw, and his voice... clean and harsh vocals..
It is probably cause of the autotune. it is subtle but it's there
Post has SpongeBob laughing vibrato
That means he's not doing it right 🤣🤣🤣🤣
someone in the chat mentioned "billy goat vibrato" and if you check out Sono from Matenrou Opera, he's pretty well known for that kinda style. I guess you can do it safely in that regard but something just seems off with Post Malone's vibrato if that is vibrato that he's doing and not just straining o-o I never heard him before so I can't really comment on what I don't know ... xD
Hey Mark, can you PLEASE take a look at David Benites’s one-take performance of “Renesans- Labor of Hate?” Dude is an absolute BEAST and does SO many different techniques in one song. I’d love to hear your input on everything he’s doing in that song.
I have reflux now. The symptoms are similar. I am recovering now. And I am NOT smoking, for sure.
I can scream like Mitch and Alex Terrible only if clear my throat tenderly and do warm up in the shower.
He’s smoking a regular cigarette
The DC TALK singer was actually Kevin Max :) That vibrato that Post does sounds like a vocal effect. And his vocals are great but I think they may be auto tuned… if y’all know different let me know
It seems like there's a hint of auto-tune in his voice. Presumably, it's for an aesthetic effect since he sings quite well naturally.
Moreover, let's not overlook the fact that we live in an era where many singers strive to emulate the sound of auto-tune from the outset. Surely, this also has a slight impact on the overall auditory experience.
as a producer he is definitely using auto tune and a fairly heavy amount at that. not that it takes away from his performance or talent! it's a live performance that he knows will be recorded and he wants to sound exactly like he does on his record so there's nothing wrong with that. but he is 100% using a hefty amount of autotune
I seen an interview with post and joe rogan, and post said he quit smoking the weed because it started giving him panic attacks
Ahh, yeah it has that effect on some people.
@@KardavoxAcademy happens to me if i smoke waaay to much. Fun to joke about but it really is terrifying sometimes lol
If you wanna hear some killer vibrato, check out Acid Bath. Dax Riggs naturally sounded like early auto tune.
CVT calls it hammer vibrato which i feel is kind of accurate on that kind of sensation when doing it.
I would love more pop singing critiques! Very different territory with plenty of singers terrible and great alike
That could be fun! We've actually got a cool announcement coming which might be the perfect opportunity to do more of this...
Posty can scream too. Would be so cool if he threw some of that influence in the future
I strongly believe there is auto tuning there, i also strongly believe that kinda vibrato is possible naturally but i dont believe post is doing it naturally
Post Malone is/was a huge metalhead, he love Cattle Decap and Infant Annihilator in particular having signed records and stuff like that.
Long time ago he said he wanted to make a death metal album, he seriously needs to get out of whatever this hole of music he's in.
That’s such a nice analysis!!! (PS: I have exercices for vibrato 😉 let me know if you want to exchange knowledge in a near future haha)
I listen quite a bit of stuff that has vibrato and I never heard it sound like Post Malone. Bro sounds like he's just struggling mostly but I'm no expert 😭😭😭😭

I found this video because I’ve been listening to post Malone, I LOVE his voice and I’ve just always wondered how he maintained his voice with his lifestyle 😭 he literally does every single thing you’re not supposed to do to keep a healthy voice
Yes, exactly, haha, hence why I'm worried! Will be very interesting to see how his voice holds up in the coming years, although I just wish he would take care of himself!
I've always loved Post's singing style but it does not sound healthy or sustainable. I hope he gets some proper training cause I can see him making some really great music down the line.
Agreed!
