Thank you, Amber, for asking the question that should have been asked from the beginning. As Granger was telling Colin’s story, I kept wondering why Colin wasn’t being allowed to tell the story himself. We needed to hear it from him, and I thank you, Amber, for asking the question so we could hear it from his own mouth. It made a difference. No one can tell your testimony better than you.

@@colinbartlett0719Thanks Colin for your testimony, please continue to share as often as you can, it gives people hope, my son is set to be released in October and I’m honestly afraid he will fall back into the same patterns and my family doesn’t want to live that nightmare anymore, it’s tough when they get out and have to start over with felonies hanging over their head, we will continue to support him and pray that God will open doors that only he can, again thanks for your testimony and prayers.

One of the best pod casts so far. We are dealing with this in our life right now. I know until our son totally surrenders , he will not have peace. You are so right about our jail systems, . The people who get out are set up for failure. Our church has started a ministry to council those in jail . Once they get out , we have housing for them with a strict schedule of work, counseling, church, and helping community. BETTERWAY ministries in Atlanta , GA. Wonderful ministry has this, for which our church is trying to model in the upper peninsula Michigan.

This is amazing and I pray that more church’s will do this because being inside and coming out, I was truly blessed to still have the job, the wife, and everything that comes with that. I’ve known so many men and women that come out and have nothing and not a lot of help at all. It’s tough

As a person who works in the Education Department in a correctional facility, I was glad to hear Granger say what he said about the failures of the system. I am a HUGE fan of restorative justice. It takes more time, money, and other resources, but it can truly bring about lasting change. Maybe one day we'll have leaders who will be willing to make the investment in people to do this.

On a separate topic, can we talk about Jonah's story? I remember being taught as a kid that Jonah didn't want to go to Nineveh because he was afraid or just didn't want to do it, but Jonah's story is must more sinister than this. Jonah didn't want to go because he had decided that he did not want the people of Nineveh to be saved from God's wrath. When Jonah finally opened up to God and told the whole story, Jonah is angry with God because Jonah knew that if he taught the message to the people of Nineveh that there was a good chance they'd repent, and if they repented, Jonah knew God would forgive them (which is what happens, so that's why Jonah is so mad). When I was growing up, it seems like the story always stops after the people repent in chapter 3, but chapter 4 tells the rest of the story, and it tells us how awful Jonah was. We also never see any repentance from Jonah, so it's a tragic ending for him. A preacher did a sermon about Jonah's story not long ago, and I remember him ending the sermon by asking us "Who is your Nineveh?" In other words, who are people that we believe are beyond saving or believe don't deserve to be saved by God? It's a great question to ponder and then hopefully resolve before we put our own salvation on the line.

9941 I spent years waiting for my one and only. I would pray for an exit. I pulled out my list of grievances in prayer, and hear in my heart, "that's all?" Knowing Christ has forgiven me of much much more. My job was to forgive and get out the way, because like Colin accurately stated,"we can't change people." Christ brought her back. One night she got on her knees and cried out to Christ saying take the addiction away because it was going to break her if he didn't. We have a new beginning in life and that life begins and ends with Christ as our one and only.

Colin, I am so glad that you found the Lord and I'm so glad you saw what you was doing and you needed his help. That was a young boy where I live at. He killed a girl because he was on drugs. I don't know what's happened to him, but I'm sure he's still in Preston. I'm sure the boy is still in prison since he had a car accident in front of my house and that little girl was only 10 years old and she died from his mistake for being on drugs. He was not only at his right mind because the drugs had took over his mind. I'd say that's what happened. This has been about 5 years ago so I don't know what's happened to the boy. He was only 21 years old.
