  • Part two of our series looking at the Kata Kushanku, a pivotal and majorly important Kata in lots of Karate style and especially Wado Ryu Karate. An energetic, long and challenging kata, it is a serious step up from the Pinan Kata, even though many elements may feel familiar.
A look at the Kata itself performed by Roger Vickerman 6th Dan Renshi Chubu Karate Kai (www.chubukarat...) and assisted in the breakdown by Kerry Moore Sensei of Shinkido Martial Arts (www.shinkido.c...).
This series will be a detailed look at the application of the Kata, the core principles and some key points. We hope you enjoy it and subscribe for more top Wado Ryu Karate content.

Hi Bryan, thank you for the kind words and encouragement. RE DVDs we would rather everyone had free access to the materials in an open and fair way, we'd like to keep it free and unrestricted. Hopefully the playlist operate as series chapters to help navigate each series.
If would like an offline copy, there are ways to achieve this, just drop me a message for some free tools

@@WadoRyuBenkyo i agree - there are many out there who use WADO to make money. in fact, i know of one 'teacher' in Ireland who used WADO as his primary source of income. He lived a very affulent life, teaching for 4 or 5 hours a week and topping up his earnings with grading events/ selling club tracksuits (which his wife made)/ selling club uniforms/ selling club patches. He even banned students taking cameras into dojo events as he wanted to sell all photographs of himself and any visiting teacher. The bizarre thing is - people actually paid. I feel very sorry for him now - everything fell apart for him. he was left with no students and no income as he approached 60 years old

@samoth-so5lq We can't comment on anyone else and for some people who are professional instructors martial arts are their livelihood; but for all of us on the team, we are fortunate enough to be able to do this for the love of it and give back what has been given to us. I personally believe helping others in their martial journey can only benefit the whole of martial arts. We will continue to give freely and if others choose to receive or not, that is fine by us.
We also enjoy the process as a team and all learn ourselves from the research and practice, and we always go for a nice meal after filming too. So hopefully everybody wins :)
