the kushanku stance versus normal shizentai would be more stable - wider base of support - centre of gravity is lower to the ground. I was also taught it was wider than normal in the 1980's - great videos by the way!
In the movement on 10.45 sec must we lil bend the upper body with a head, like Suzuki sensei did it in idori? It looks like it would help with slipping the punch direct to the jodan. Excuse my English, please😢
@@rogervickerman8454 I feel foolish by myself)) 8.45. Uchi, or i hope soto uke in wado. Many people do it with straight back, I saw Suzuki tatsuo either, but until he performing idori or kumite, he bend his head and upper torso.
Hi AndyBuga5826 there is a very good explanation of this movement from the last course we did in October last year. the full video can be found here: ruclips.net/video/U2rUAg61x9o/видео.html It shows all the parts that need to move, when, how and why :) Hopefully useful.
It is essentially the same Kata, Funakoshi changed the name of it when he moved from Okinawa to Tokyo, the only main physical differences are the side kicks and the stamping of the feet. If you search RUclips there is also a video of the original Shotokan version you can find. Shotokan karate was changed quite dramatically by Gogi Funakoshi (Gichin Funakoshi's son), to make it more powerful and explosive. Originally it was more similar to other Shorin-ryu versions of the Kata. I hope this helps.
Just been going through all the respect of wado , it's a real MMA , way before it's time , I believe we should not stop, refining and playing with ideas,a lot of prinispels of wado are saem the wing Chun I did but not the wing Chun with , draging feet on toes ,I mix bits in to a Kata and when doing set plays, going to blind side not meeting fouce with fouce,is wado and wing Chun, but most of all jujisu , traditional jujisu, knife must be added more ,keep evolving ,the old masters did ,respect them but have the creativity and balls to make new ,

@@WadoRyuBenkyo thank You and sorry maybe for the evident question. I will see necessarily)
No problem, we welcome any questions and comments from our viewers. Please keep posting.
Always remember that japaneses' shins are shorter than westerns' ones. Their Jigotai Dachi are closer than our ones.
Not in our case, we've both got little legs!
I am over six feet tall.
I trained *Wado Ryu* when I was a gangly teenager.
It didn't suit me as an ectomorph.
Oss
Oss!🙏🙏
As a Shotokan person, why is this almost identical to Kanku Dai?
