Sensei: Masters of Okinawan Karate is a documentary series about the amazing martial arts teachers living on Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. It is completely free to watch on RUclips, anywhere in the world! Series One has more than 1,000,000 views and a fan community of 30,000+ on Facebook. The International Edition episodes are interviews with key karateka who have helped spread Okinawan karate around the world.

    GOALS OF THE SERIES
    1. Document the stories of Okinawan karate masters and their philosophy on life and their martial arts practice.
    2. Record in the highest quality possible. Ideally 4K or 8K, RAW, multi camera, multi audio
    3. Store the original data as an archival record.
    4. Transcribe and translate the recordings to spread knowledge of Okinawan martial arts, history and culture.
    5. Make the videos available for free online via RUclips, and on Bujin.tv so that anyone, anywhere can see them.
The documentary series grew out of the Karate Masters Portrait Project which began in 2012. The portrait project allowed amazing access to the sensei, but it was only Chris Willson and James Pankiewicz who got to hear their stories. The documentary series is a way for us to share that unique knowledge with the international karate community, and to archive aspects of Okinawan culture before they disappear.

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend a seminar where Sensei Morales was teaching this past weekend of December 2, 2023. The way he taught was very clear, concise, and extremely knowledgeable towards not only the physical aspects of the art he practices but also the mental and spiritual. He is a great teacher and an even greater martial artist.

This video resonates with many of us that have been practising Japanese mainland karate. I spent 15 years on a mainland Goju Ryu system. I went to okinawa for the first time this year and visited many masters. I saw the light and now in the middle of transitioning across.

Hanshi Luis Morales to me is an American martial science treasure! His in-depth level of teachings in martial science and history can be compared to attaining a degree from M.I.T or Harvard Universities. I am honored and proud to be able to say that I train under his teachings. My name is Joey LLanos and I am currently a 4th dan. If you wish to experience this level of study in Traditional Okinawa Goju-Ryu. Our dojo is Budo Quest, located at 7 Elm St. North Arlington NJ. 07031. Onagashimas!

Sensei Morales, the best teacher of children in any field of education I have ever seen. I have 2 grandsons, nine years old each training with him 2 nights a week. One has been with him for 4-5 years, the other now in his second year. He not only teaches the art of karate, but perhaps more importantly, the art of life. He is an amazing man and role model.

I got to meet Mr. Morales in Okinawa in 2016. We were staying at the same hotel and I saw he and his students getting into a couple of taxi. We said hello. I was headed to Hokama Sensei's dojo to see the museum and was surprised to see him again at the dojo. We then had lunch together and saw each other at the Dojo bar later.

Grew up training shotokan. Have done Muay Thai and BJJ. Wish I could train every style out there even though that would take a few lifetimes. Goju-Ryu definitely makes the body stronger than some other styles though

Si; Karate para defensa personal; pero evidentemente es más fácil si uno es grande como este instructor. Karate solo habría que haberlo enseñado a la gente normal o chica de tamaño; para lograr un handicap; una posibilidad contra todos estos gigantes
