You brought up good points regarding encounters and objectives. It's easy to get focused on faction/player mat combos as the source of under- or overpowered play. I'm at the point where I have no desire to play Crimea or Rusviet in casual play because those two factions don't feel remotely balanced.
Great insight, and I wholeheartedly agree on almost all the points. I'm just fought about the objectives one, because while your point makes sense for 6 factions, in your scenario Saxony would have a massive advantage with the double objective, don't you think?
Hey glad to hear that. While I was not trying to push a particular solution for objectives I do feel that competitive play would benefit from guaranteeing one doable objective for every player. Even if that does have the side effect of giving saxony two doable objectives more often I still think that would be an improvement. Even a "draw three, return one" system would be an improvement don't you think?
Sums up all the reasons I haven't been playing. Before I quit I would mostly play non IFA games, but there was still imbalance there. Really wish there were some official fixes that could be implemented online.
The only flaw this video has is that it's not longer. I could spend hours listening to top players discuss balance issues. Strong points, clear presentation, just a great job all around 🌸
If playing casual IRL, would you recommend amending Togawa and Albion's starting power and combat cards to add up to 5 as a general rule of thumb? I've already found that culling certain objectives and TWG features massively improves the experience. And I've also considered counting Albion's flags even if they're adjacent to the home base. So maybe "fixing" the starting power and combat cards would be good too?
But he didn’t catch us all next time 😢

You could force everyone to have a good objective and a bad objective.

Great content. I always devour any content you put out. Extremely thoughtful and entertaining!
Has there been any word from Stonemaier Games as to consider correcting these competitive disadvantages?

Thank you, I really appreciate that :)
Did they just not test enough or what? At the very least they need to modify Togawa and Albion's starting power & combat cards.

Yes, absolutely. Easy adjustment and makes the game better for everyone IMO
What are the prospects of having balance patches for digital/physical game versions? Did anyone from the community contact Asmodee/Jamey about this?
