The tail is to die for!!! It's probably the base color for her that makes her seem uncanny, but i do see it. For "sunlight," i think a centaur (maybe with a unicorn horn) would be neat, but at the same time i can't think of other mythy things rn. Maybe a vampire? Haha, idk...
I think the base colour looks cooler on the vid than it actually is... my skintone is pretty pink but didn't look it in the vid. My new monitor showed it all a lot lot warmer

Very fun video. The rage quits are so relatable. I love how she turned out. For a third? Maybe a Satyr? A sunlight satyr would be fun.....I like alliteration so when you were asking about the third being a sunlight theme my silly brain went "A shimmering sunny satyr". Tossing a guy into the magical mix would be fun.....And might make people look up the difference between Fauns and Satyrs.
@@Dolleemixtures Admittedly, you wouldn't have to do their main characteristic. Over generations they do look more like fauns. But having a horse tail & mane would be challenging. And saying sunlight satyr would be hard. I prefer sunny satyr.

She’s gorgeous .I love her face paint and how you did her outfit.I think it’s a better way of doing a mermaid by doing the base more like a long skirt..At least if you felt like changing her up into another theme it will be much easier..Just a great idea ..Love n Light 🥰

Watching the shaking back is pretty saddening. I'm worried I'll get to the point where I can't do it anymore...
So I think all of OOAK Doll makers have at least one odd doll that turned out... special? IDK the thing that makes it ping as uncanny for me is the placement of the eyes fighting with the molding of the doll, it look a little far apart/sunken at the corner of waterline near the nose. But I also may be biased as my style is a mix of Anime/Final Fantasy/Avatar the Last Air Bender. But regardless the doll is really well done an I love all the small designs on her body and the fine details. You put a lot of time an love into this doll cuz it shows. An even if the turned out a bit odd it still looks interesting, her expression is hard to pin an kinda changes the more you look at it and I kinda like that. Anyway, don't let this deter you from exploring different art styles and pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. Its healthy to mix it up an explore in art.
I usually draw my eyes different to the sculpt but Operetta defo has a more defined eye sculpt so that's probably showing more. I'm glad you said that her expression changes cause I was seeing that when I was doing the doll and I thought it was my brain tricking me. It's defo a lot of what was freaking me out...

I've seen much smaller crochet hooks whole working in a craft store. we're talking very, VERY small... needlelike small. the kind that would stab you and stay in your finger cuz of the hook on it. The doll turned out awesome, I love her tail!!
I think the uncanny feel works well with her because in traditional lore, mermaids used their beauty to lure men in and drown them. She is uncannily beautiful and it adds to the sense of danger one wouldn't notice at first glance.
This is great I've been looking for a way to use extra UV nail gels and acrylic powder in my figure sculpts, have you tried acrylic powder for sculpting on figures? Also I've wondered why I never see any vids on UV resin used on nails or nail art pieces 🤔✌🏻☺️❤️
Omg yes do it!!! I tend to use polygel because I'm rubbish with acrylic looool but I used acrylic powder and liquid when I did the bunny for her daffodil. Nails stuff is PERFECT for dolls!!!!

I lost all movement within months of my left hand,first my finger went numb then clawed up in a fist and I'm only now starting to use it again and exercising it lots so my fingers open up get string and I can use it again. Losing movement in your hands from pain or a condition is awful especially for creative arty folk. 😊❤️✌🏻
@@kaijuk omg!!! That sounds awful! How's your movement now? I'm worried I'll need surgery on my right hand and that I'll lose fine movement forever. I used to have steroid injections into it. I don't think the NHS would do it because there's a limit on the number they will do because they can do damage (I think I had 5 and that's 2 above what the NHS will do. I had them while I was in Japan). The tfcc cartilage was torn along with a torn tendon near my thumb and my ulnar was broken at that time too (assault) and I have an earlier break on my radius. Nagging docs is a nightmare though and I still worry I won't be believed (I at least have my MRIs though) both my hands and wrists have been suuuuper crunchy when I move them recently...
@@Dolleemixtures Omg it sounds like you've gone through hell 🥺 I'm in the UK too in Manchester and it took the NHS over two years to operate but covid was a huge factor in that of course. My movement now is still limited and sensation is poor but they told me it could take more or less 2 years to get it all back and some may not return. I exercise it daily and I'm doing all I can for the hand to recover to full working order. If I was you I'd keep hammering your doc and if you don't feel like you're getting anywhere with them ask for a second opinion and change docs if you're not making progress with your current one. I'd also tell him how you feel re being believed etc or tell him you want to speak to someone professionally trained to deal with the mental health side of your recovery, once you get access to a cpn or similar they can push doctors and hospital specialists re you needing the treatment you need regardless if it's physical or mental or a combination. I know only to well how frustrating it can be having to put the thumb screws on to get NHS services to help and do their job on e assigned, you feel like you're getting nowhere but you have to nag and call often and regularly because otherwise they put you to the bottom of the pile and the only way to move up is to nag the loudest until they deal with your case. Please don't give up, we have the NHS for a reason and you're within your rights to ask for help and to keep doing so until they pull their finger out. It's defo easier sewing a tail than sculpting. Plus then, you're right, she can have a human form with a different dress

That's a 0.6mm hook. I couldn't find anything smaller. I think there's a 0.5mm available but not smaller than that...

I don't think the NHS would do it because there's a limit on the number they will do because they can do damage (I think I had 5 and that's 2 above what the NHS will do. I had them while I was in Japan). The tfcc cartilage was torn along with a torn tendon near my thumb and my ulnar was broken at that time too (assault) and I have an earlier break on my radius. Nagging docs is a nightmare though and I still worry I won't be believed (I at least have my MRIs though) both my hands and wrists have been suuuuper crunchy when I move them recently...

I'm in the UK too in Manchester and it took the NHS over two years to operate but covid was a huge factor in that of course. My movement now is still limited and sensation is poor but they told me it could take more or less 2 years to get it all back and some may not return. I exercise it daily and I'm doing all I can for the hand to recover to full working order.
If I was you I'd keep hammering your doc and if you don't feel like you're getting anywhere with them ask for a second opinion and change docs if you're not making progress with your current one. I'd also tell him how you feel re being believed etc or tell him you want to speak to someone professionally trained to deal with the mental health side of your recovery, once you get access to a cpn or similar they can push doctors and hospital specialists re you needing the treatment you need regardless if it's physical or mental or a combination. I know only to well how frustrating it can be having to put the thumb screws on to get NHS services to help and do their job on e assigned, you feel like you're getting nowhere but you have to nag and call often and regularly because otherwise they put you to the bottom of the pile and the only way to move up is to nag the loudest until they deal with your case.
Please don't give up, we have the NHS for a reason and you're within your rights to ask for help and to keep doing so until they pull their finger out.
