The KOP is truly the king. To me there’s such a huge gulf between that gorgeous KOP nib and the still-very-good-but-not-jaw-dropping 21k nibs on their 1911L and Pro Gears. Bouncy and soft but at the same time just sharp and precise… like a hot scalpel or a katana.
Hi Vincenzo! Thanks for showing the outstanding 1911 KOP! Think this might be better than a MB 149, especially price wise. Certainly, looks the part of a grail pen!
I got the King of Pen the second year it was released. It has an ebonite body. No trim except for clip. It is truly a grail pen. I had the nib tuned by the Sailor nib meister when he was touring North America.. I can never, ever think of not having this pen. Please enjoy and cherish you KoP.
Great presentation of the magnificent pen....I have it on my radar. By the way, in that exhibition of "top" pens, I missed your Parker Duofold Centennial....Regards
Great acquisition. I envy your happiness, and I am curious as to whether your initial enthusiasm will remain over the years. Thank you for the great review.
Congratulations Vincenzo! Sailor KoP is an amazing Pen, perhaps my favorite when it comes to Nib response and performance. It writes in a very nuanced way, unique to it, which always makes me to write a bit longer than intended :) I don't consider the lack of piston a problem, it is so easy and hustle free to change inks - However I do agree that an XL converter would make a huge difference on constant use. Enjoy!
Thanks as always fun to watch you compare and use that pen. Perhaps you can discuss buying from Japan to Canada and if you know the custom duty in the US
My grail used to be that Italian volcanic twist loc pen. Then I changed to that Japanese scratchy pen, but now I have a V60 with a feedback nib for less than $25 and I no longer have a "GRAIL" pen.
I love my sailor 1911 King Of Pen in Ebonite! Congratulations!! If you continue to pursue grail pens, you must have some clients with deep pockets to fund your searches!!
Beautiful. Same 0.7ml convertor as the one in ProGear? There are Ebonite and Resin models under KOP (any many other annual things). Yours seem to be the resin version.
I like your reviews because you buy lots of cool pens. I'm saving for an 845 Urishi and I have see them on Amaxon for 1/2 of what Goulet sells them for. What do you or your viewers think of buying a gray 845 on Amazon.
If you have an 823 there is really no point in getting the 845 if what really matters to you is the nib. However that finishing may make a significant difference. The only issue will then be that the 823 is significantly less expensive. That is why now I’m saving up for the big one the pilot custom Urushi
Where I think the Montblanc wins out is with ink capacity. I don’t why Sailor continue to handicap their top of the range pen with such a small capacity converter. Very off putting. The two main competitors in my opinion, are Visconti Homo Sapiens and the Pelikan M1000 ,both with medium nibs.
Congratulations, Vincenzo! The price is acceptable when buying it directly from a Japanese dealer (compared to western dealers), the pen is definitely a King among FP's, the nib is writing great with impressive lines. Only this converter is a real letdown, it just doesn't fit such a beauty, especially at this price point.
Congratulations, I was fortunate to get one of the limited edition ebonite Blue Ripple versions recently (only 88 made) which cost double what yours did but I'm so happy with it. I find it better than my MB149 or Pelikan M1000 (both awesome) - it's my best pen, and it's all down to that beautiful nib.
Really nice and fun filled way to keep your audience in tune and on their toes...
Yay! Another great video. ❤
Thanks again!
Nice looking pen! Thanks, Vincenzo.
Thanks for watching!

I have a Sailor KOP and it writes like a dream as well as being gorgeous to look at.
Great video, Vincenzo!
I’m glad you liked it!
getting the coffee going now before I watch.. thanks for sharing
I hope you enjoy the video.

I will thank you
Really happy for your acquisition Vincenzo. Sailor KOP is a supreme fountain pen.
Congratulations Vincent on beautiful writing instrument keep up the good work 👍
Bravo!
Enjoy it!

You’re absolutely right

I think that’s a valid question
Absolutely outstanding pen and worthy grail pen. For me, better than the MB149, close to the Pilot CU. HAVE FUN!
Thanks, I agree!
So, is the custom urushi better ?
Can only have one hehehe
Congratulations Vincenzo!

I agree that in capacity is not one of my major concerns in fact I always like to vary my inks so it helps in that regard

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll keep it in mind for future videos.

What nibs do you have on the pen? Is it smoother and less feedback than the smaller models?
@@holohulolo , mine has the medium nib and it is about a #8 nib. It is smoother in my estimation and the feedback is not different.
lol no comment
@@fountainpentherapy , I would have you as my lawyer anytime!

That's correct

The pelican M1000 is very hard to beat

It is definitely a top of the line pen.
Is this Urushi? Acrylic or ebonite?
Look like resin. The Ebonite KOP got no shinning band on the cap.
It’s precious resin

One can dream but this stratospheric price range makes me dizzy! Might still prefer the Pelikan 1000.
I am curious why you would prefer the M1000. Because maybe then I need one.
They are both great pens.@@ichirofakename
@@ichirofakenamethe m1000 can be bought at slightly more than half price, at least in europe.
@@karlgozo Which do you prefer and why?
Going to do a best of the year video at the end of 2024 and it’s going to be difficult to choose between the M 1000 and the kop
