They are still using the quad i got it out of the garage and the kids rode for a couple hours last weekend. I did thos mod to another one and it has been going strong for 8 months also.
I tried this with one milwaukee battery, my kid is small and I got the quad with dead batteries. Idea was to throttle the quad until he grow up a bit and gets comfortable. Even with a fully charged 5ah battery the controller sees under voltage and cuts the power to zero. I cleaned the motor and connected the battery directly to the leads on the motor and 18v spinns it well, so I'm estimating it's the controller. Ill try the dual batteries next, and maybe put in a 22-24v voltage drop resistor.
@@DRIFTWORKSINC I added a potentiometer to mine with both batteries. I mounted it under the fender so the little kids wouldn't medlss with it. A potentiometer is a dial to throttle the motor.
Did you change anything else? Controller? ect... I have the 2 battery holders and the same bike. Wondering if the rest of the components can take the 36v? thank you
Hoping you can help. I hooked up 2 18v Ryobi batteries in series and it worked for like 10 min and stoped. Showing 37-40v but doesn’t run. I even switched the controller and throttle out to 36v
Yes it still is going strong with the same motor and controller. i did put a potentiometer on it to tame the max speed for the younger riders. however most riders use full 36v.
I don't see any problems with this mod other than it can be a little too fast for the little kids. adding a potentiometer to the controller wire is recommended for a limiter.
Depending on amp hours of the battery you are using the 9ah batteries last about 30 percent longer than the stock batteries. They also don't slow down until they are dead.
@@swickin2767 I'm not sure I can help you but it sounds like the controller is the problem My daughter is still running. The only thing you really have to watch for is that the batteries don't drain too far down or you can damage them
That's pretty badass, the plate and location of the batteries is perfect!
Wish you show step buy step how to connect the old battery system to the new one

There is a tutorial on Google or RUclips on how to add it.
@@mcarr8685Do you have to add the potentiometer?
@@stevekrist no, if you add a potentiometer you can set a maximum speed.
is this quad still working?? you never change 24v controler or engine? mvh
It is the original 24v controller and motor. yes it is and another i have quad i modded are still working.

It's all stock other than that.
They Have Been handling it for 4 months now.
Do the mod it works great. Mine has been great for 4 months now. The kids mob on it all day.
@@mcarr8685 thanks for the update. My daughter will be happy with the mod!
this question is great
I see a fuse behind the batteries is that part of the old harness or you Installed the fuse? Thank you planning to do the same thing
Mine came off of the previous battery’s but some of these kits also come with them.
Yes it was from the old harness.
Hoping you can help. I hooked up 2 18v Ryobi batteries in series and it worked for like 10 min and stoped. Showing 37-40v but doesn’t run. I even switched the controller and throttle out to 36v
Thats odd. It should have worked.
I am not sure. Try putting the stock controller back in.
This is awesome! 🔥🔥
Thanks.
Big cuestión everything it’s same same controllers same motor??

What els did u do sir I put 2 batteries and it say low battery on the throttle handle
Did you ever figure it out I’m having the same issue now
You will not be able to read the voltage through the handle.
Did you have to convert the controller to a 36v controller or did you literally just add the battery adapters and remove old batteries?
It is the stock 24v controller
@@mcarr8685 so just replaced old batteries with adapters and use new batteries. No issues ?
Where did u get those battery plates from
Amazon or ebay
@mcarr8685 thanx but I'm currently swapping from electric to 79cc predator motor
Where did you get the red adapters for the batterys?
amazon
Ebay o amazon brother
Has this burnt up the motor?
One of my kids used it the other day for an hour or so.
How much longer does the quad last?

Did you wire the batteries in parallel?
Series to make 36V
Is this one big enough for a 10 year old boy or what do you recommend?
7 or 8yo. No big boys and girls. Itll haul em around but not recommended.
What is the average run time on two 9ah batteries?
They say 9ah but they are more like 6ah. They last an hour and a half on average.
I doing same
The only downside to this is the batteries can get so low that they can be ruined.
You can add a low voltage cut off switch for a couple of bucks. Would need to add one for each battery
still running the stock 24vdc motor?
Yes. Still running the 24v motor.
@@mcarr8685 doing this today!
@@mcarr8685how???? mine clicks and rolls 1/8th turn on the rear wheels then stops, figured it needs a new controller for the power

Still running. Multiple kids ride it now. They even double up.
48 v with lithium ion
I wouldnt do more than 40v without changing the motor and controller.
