I love this video. I been dancing punta since I was a little girl. My mother is from Honduras. She taught me the beautiful dance. I was born and raised in the USA, and my father is from Puerto Rico, but my heart and soul is Honduran! I love everything about Honduras. When I was 10 years old I went to Ceiba, and Tela, and there on the beach I was dancing punta with a bunch of Garifuna kids. I loved them and they loved me! They were amazed at how well I could dance it. Lol I’m 35 now and I visit no other place but Honduras every year since I was a little girl. It is my second home. Honduras has magic! Que viva la rasa catracha!

I am from Honduras from la ceiba and I live in la. What I’ve learned is you dance punta the way the music sounds. The way she’s teaching is the way it originated as. My family is garifuna so we always fight over the old generation and the new generation. As a dance instructor and a teacher at a high school now. I love to dance on my tip on my toes because it burns like 300 calories in 5 minutes. But I love this video it’s super educational
I love your tutorial, my dad is from El Salvador, my mom from Guatemala, I'm American and even tho I don't understand the language of most of the songs I got the hang of the dance, and with this tutorial I can use the flat dance to punta so I won't get so tired when dancing punta 😁 but the flat punta makes your hips look like your shaking them more which is like music to the eyes...
Oh my god the way you explained it made it so easy. I'm hondurean and I didn't dance punta that well😓 I watched so many tutorial and didn't help but yours its unique it really helped me. Thanks so much 🙏🇭🇳
I absolutely love this! My mom is garifuna but didn’t grow up dancing punta since it was “forbidden” to children back then. As an adult she still doesn’t 😫. Obviously, times have changed and I was always fascinated by it. I taught myself the best way I could but it’s just not the same. I try my best but sometimes I feel so off. So thank you for this! I look forward to practice more.

Interesting... I never knew that Punta came from the word "mbunda"... Which means "buttocks" in Kimbundu, the language of the Ambundu ethnic group on my mothers side of the family. 60% of Africans taken during the first phase of the African Slave Trade were taken from the BaKongo and Ambundu ethnicities which are today located in Angola 🇦🇴. I’m now based in Luanda, but I used to live in the USA... Ironically I had a great percussionist friend named Ricardo Guity, he’s Garifuna... I haven’t heard of him in a long time. It’s a small world, but Our Ancestors are very big! Africans all over the world must UNITE! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥💪🏿💯💪🏿💯🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿✅
