I would love to see a video where you show us how to fix mistakes on cakes - ex: when you put “Chase” on the cake instead of “Chance” and you had to fix it. I wouldn’t even know what to do if that happened to me. That would be a very helpful video! ❤ thank you for everything you’ve taught me so far
I have been wanting to try this, and finally I have a cake for it I am making a Pirate Ship cake for a birthday party next week. So I am making it today, so I have all my prep work done. Can't wait!
@@KarolynsKakes i didn't taste it, but I used 1 cup chocolate, I know a bit much, but I wanted a good chocolate flavor, my guys tasted, and came back wanting more. Was even sneaking bites when I went to wash my hands so I could wrap it up lol. I will be unwrapping it in a few days to start making some of the decorations I am making for the boat. Makings the sails today with wafer paper. Using a technic I seen done for making wafer paper roses, it feels like suede, or leather. But drys it whatever shape your making, so the will look like the wind is blowing through them. I will try to remember to send pictures
I love that you add Tylose while making fondant. I never thought of this. Brilliant!! Thank you for this tutorial, it’s been hit and miss for me when making fondant. Your tips clear up everything.
Glad it was helpful! Let me know how it goes when you try it! Remember, add a little bit at a time. It's easy to go overboard and add too much, then you'll end up with a fondant rock LOL
Hi Karolyn, new sub, ive been binge watching your videos and find them very informative and helpful. Im a beginner baker, getting into it with my daughter who has a moderate disability and we find baking is a great way to do something together, teaching my daughter a new skill that i hope will help her throughout life, and its alot of fun and great for the imagination. Regards from Australia. xx
I love making chocolate fondant. I always make it for brown or black fondant. I use black coco powder for the black fondant. Really helps with the color. I want to try it this way with the chips, thanks for always sharing tips 💕
Hey darling .. I have a question I’m not sure do u have a video on this but I had a question about the sugar and water u use right to keep cakes moist and what to do with my cake .. so if I want to make my cake a day I advance right and the next do all the fondant and decorate it where do I put my cake for night ? Ok so do I spray that stuff to keep my cakes moist before I wrap them up or no? Do I bake my cakes let them cool and wrap them with cling wrap and place them Where over night the fridge or the freezer? Do I spray stuff on it to keep it moist before I store it or after
Girl... I am dying over here..... Now hubby wants a batch of Peppermint fondant and Chocolate fondant, and wanted to know if we can do a Carmel Flavor. He absolutely loves you fondant. And wants me to make him candy out of it.... Lmao he not dieting very well lmao. Can't wait to try this.
@@KarolynsKakes 😆😄🤣😄😆 Oh wow never thought about that.... The Future Fondant Flavors.... Andy's Mints, Chocolate Candy Cane, Ooohhhh How about a Chocolate salted Caramel.... Over reach? Lmao
Thank you for the great video. ❤ Can you do the same with white chocolate chips? So the flavor would be chocolaty, but the color can be other than brown. I love the recipe, but don’t need brown fondant often.
White chocolate chips are made with cocoa butter, but not cocoa solids. Cocoa solids (like cocoa powder) are found in milk and dark chocolate. The solids give chocolate it's flavor. White chocolate is often flavored with vanilla so it doesn't have the same taste.
Even though you added tylose to the fondant as you were making it would you still add it later when you’re ready to use it? I’m assuming you would but wanted to check. Your earlier fondant videos didn’t add the tylose as you were making the fondant but I think it’s a great idea. I’ve made fondant with your recipe and LOVE it!!!
I would add it if I felt like it needed more (if I'm making a decoration that has to dry hard.) I posted an updated fondant recipe video a few months back, showing that I now add Tylose to all of my fondant. I don't add too much to the entire batch, but will add more if necessary.😊
Thank you Diana! I've kept it in the container for 3-4 weeks and it's been fine! I have heard that people freeze it, I never have just because I use so much of it. I believe it could last up to a year in the freezer.
You might be able to help me, I use uour fondant marshmallow fondant receipe but it still gets sticky with me especially when I put on a cske, was wondering if I'm doing something wrong, as I live in ireland I xant get crisco, uou might know of another I could use also., just love your cake designs you are so talented, love your videos, thank you for sharing all your ideas receipes. One other thinvbi use glucose syrup instead or corn syrup is there a difference in that which might cause my problem. Thank you.
I did a quick search, do you have Cookeen there? It looks like that may be very similar to Crisco. I've never used glucose, so that could be the culprit. Or you're not adding enough powdered sugar.
@@KarolynsKakes Thanks so much for replying to my questions, I must try and make corn syrup instead if using glucose syrup and I will try and get cookeen it's meant to be sold here but its just so hard to get around where I live, some shops say they stock it and then when I go they don't have it. Will keep trying. Thanks again, just I'm awe with your cake designs ❤
I have a question, but its not about fondant. I was just wondering if you ever offer like Halloween treats or any holiday cakes or other treats or just focus on your custom cakes!!?? 2nd question Do you have a fondant rainbow video?! Thank u thank u!!!! Loveeee alll your videos!!!!!!!💖💖💖💖🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hey girl! I rarely get people who order holiday themed cakes. I have done a few (I have an album on my website and FB for holiday cakes). And I don't have a rainbow video, I'll film it the next time I make it!
I'm sure you could add 1-2 Tbsp of cocoa. I haven't done it myself, though, so I'm not sure if it messes with the texture of the fondant. If you try it, please let me know how it turns out!
Ugh I've had the same problem with the lumps in my powdered sugar in ANY brand.... have you weighed them also? Mine always weigh around 945g! I'm wondering if they are retaining moisture? Idk but I miss not sifting and the bag weighing what it says it weighs 🤦♀️
I KNOW!! I used to dump it all it, and now this adds a lot more time (and aggravation LOL) to the process. I have no clue what's going on, it could be a moisture thing.
Is tylose powder absolutely necessary? I always try to limit chemicals/additives/ extra ingredients as much as possible. Also have you ever tried using vegan marshmallows? Thank you for the video!
I use this recipe, but I add a lot of black gel food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture before I pour it into the bowl to mix with the sugar. ruclips.net/video/iTAzMgpJc9M/видео.html
I used Walmart brand of big marshmallows followed your recipe but mine didn't melt like yours. The big ones. The small ones melt better. But I wonder why I always have trouble with the big ones.

What kind of cocoa powder do you use?
King Arthur, it’s a little pricey but a little goes a long way and it is super super delicious for chocolate cake as well.

White chocolate chips are made with cocoa butter, but not cocoa solids. Cocoa solids (like cocoa powder) are found in milk and dark chocolate. The solids give chocolate it's flavor. White chocolate is often flavored with vanilla so it doesn't have the same taste.
❤I love it Thank you so much ☺️ ❤❤
Do you refrigerate it after you put it in the airtight container, or leave it at room temp?
I leave it at room temp, sorry I forgot to mention that!

can you freeze it?
if so for how long?
love your videos 🤗

I have heard that people freeze it, I never have just because I use so much of it.
I believe it could last up to a year in the freezer.
Can you use white chocolate morsels to make white chocolate fondant?
I never have, but I would assume that it would be very similar to this, so give it a shot!
Have you started sifting your sugar for buttercream as well?
I haven't and there have not been lumps in it so crossing my fingers that I can keep doing it that way!

I'll film it if I get an order for this 😊
Is tylose powder absolutely necessary? I always try to limit chemicals/additives/ extra ingredients as much as possible. Also have you ever tried using vegan marshmallows?
Thank you for the video!
It's not necessary, I just find that I can't get my fondant to the right consistency without it. I haven't tried using vegan marshmallows yet!
What kind of cake would u use for this kind of fondant
I use this with my doctored cake mix recipes - ruclips.net/video/1rdP0iIwP4w/видео.html
How do you (if ever) flavor fondant?
You can just add a little flavoring to the melted marshmallow mixture before you add it to the bowl with the sugar in it.
I gotta figure out a cake design to try this on
I mostly use brown fondant for wood pieces (trees, barrels, etc.)
Are you from Philly? You sound like home.❤
Yes!! It's so funny how we are aware of the accent. My BFF moved to Phoenix years ago and she's always finding fellow Philly friends!
How do you make black fondant?
I use this recipe, but I add a lot of black gel food coloring to the melted marshmallow mixture before I pour it into the bowl to mix with the sugar. ruclips.net/video/iTAzMgpJc9M/видео.html
I used Walmart brand of big marshmallows followed your recipe but mine didn't melt like yours. The big ones. The small ones melt better. But I wonder why I always have trouble with the big ones.
Hmmmm, I never used Walmart brand. But it could have something to do with the size!
Why did you stop adding flour to the chips? Do they not sink in the batter?
Yes, I have found that when I break them up like I do, they don't sink to the bottom so I don't need the flour.😊
How about if white chocolate marshmallows?
I've never heard of white chocolate marshmallows!
I thought tylos powder was to harden the fondant?
There's so much to learn
If you add a lot, it will harden the fondant. If you add a little, it makes it smooth and helps with elasticity!
Too easy not to give it a try..Thank You
