Why have they only just discovered the body? Those who ask this have not seen the mountains of Tenerife. The mountains are very steep, riddled with water run offs and covered in thick tangled vegetation. There are crevices everywhere and the ground is not always stable. And it can be very hot or very cold depending upon the cloud cover. It is possible to walk up a path and not even realise there is a steep drop. Once you fall you vanish into the undergrowth. The nature is ruthless and everyone should learn from this poor guy’s mistake. I feel very sorry for him and mostly for his family as they will have to live with it. May the Lord rest him in peace!😢
Well if you are unfamiliar with the territory then I guess you would not understand? A helicopter struggled to retreive him so hikers and even skilled climbers would have found it almost impossible. There are lots of "scenarios" I guess but perhaps the Coroner will settle peoples minds a little? This must be awful for Jays family but at least they can find a closure .
No matter what the coroner says or even if there is irrefutable proof that he just fell by himself, conspiracists will still cry "it doesn't add up!!!"
The blanket he's wearing in the 7.30 photo doesn't add up. It's from his room in Los Christianos and seen in earlier photos. So if he never went back to his room, How did it get to Masca. I think he overdosed night before.
The answer’s possibly more straightforward than you could ever imagine, and comes down to nothing more than timing , in circumstances like this where a story is hyped and sensationalised, only to have the solution realised at a later date and time only minutes from the last sighting, contact, whatever, it’s been used as a distraction to draw attention from another issue .
So so baffled. WHO leaves their friend in a foreign country high as girrafe balls to walk back 11 hours. Either someone's not telling the truth or something is amiss. Even on drugs you are still somewhat self aware. The fact he went up into the mountains suggets fight or flight 🤷♂️. Yeah ive been on all sorts myself and still been aware to know who and where i am so dont say youre not aware. Lad didnt think he was at home now did he? Clearly knew what he was doing to some degree.
tbf, the greek cameraman that spotted Dr Michael Mosleys body in Symi also noted that he & his crew had observed the search & rescue teams there, pass directly over the spot where _he_ was eventually located - several times & yet they never once seen him either. It must just be that certain types of terrain can obscure even someone laying in plain sight.
Don't trust the people he went with. Lucy couldn't even look at the camera when talking about him being missing and wanting him back.. Alot of holes in this.. How the hell did they not see him the first day they looked there.. It could have saved this poor lad and his family from heart ache.
He wasn’t in view or in an area that was easy to access, look at the video that’s been released of the area he was found. It was in a deep revine no one is getting down there without the right equipment or knowledge of that sort of area. The poor lads fell and couldn’t get back up they’ve said it would be impossible to get back up. The body had to be airlifted out
They keep saying he was so close to the last known location but then others saying he had walked far into the ravine. I think they should just say where he was at this point to stop speculation
I watched them checking the terrain the morning on television and thought it would be inadvisable to attempt such a walk which did look treacherous, especially if you weren’t knowledgable about the area. Very sad for his parents.
His friend should have checked his condition and called the authorities asap. Or suggest him to go back to charge. There must be some argument or foul play that he was kicked out of BnB if his friend informed authorities or his family or send him Uber he would be alive today. Ive got questions. Why would he decide to take an 11 hours walk instead of waiting a few hours for a bus? Why would he walk up the mountain instead of down the mountain? Why would he go off road instead of sticking to the main road. Why would he have less than 5% battery if he just left an air b&b. A lot of things are not adding up IMO....

This is so very similar to the missing 411 stories…..the area is searched so thoroughly and nothing is found only for the body to be found right beside an area that was already searched. Very strange indeed.
Shouldn’t of called off the search especially when he was found so close to last known location it’s a disgrace what if it was there son would they of called it of then
Do keep up with progress and read quality newspapers. They announced the search was to be called off to clear the area of detritus individuals hampering progress and no doubt did carry out a withdrawal procedure but in reality the authorities had men, machines and other equipment in situ and continued the search for Jay Slater and without hindrance a body was located and recovered using a helicopter.😊
From what I've seen on the news, the terrain is very difficult to search with rocks and crevasses and lots of greenery. Also in spite of the local police saying a while back they were stopping the search, they have actually carried on, no doubt to keep the media off their backs. Sorry, but the lad made some very poor decisions and paid with his life.
The question is how did they find his body the spanish terrain in the mountains is unbearably hot no one in there right mind would walk through there there lucky they found his body
Lucy still a lie, said jay sent her a screenshot of his location, but whoever took the screenshot was in los Cristianos. A body that's outside, decomposing, will not be in a great state after 4 weeks. And if he fell into thick vegetation then the body would not have been easily visible. The area he was found in was also described as 'very inaccessible'.

He's a ex detective not really amateur. I think they mean the thousands of puddings making crap up and the tik tok puddings going over stomping all over the place
This is why the search never stopped, it was said it was stopped to stop the ignorant do gooders going there, they totally hindered the entire search. When people ask why it took so long they are the reason
Sorry but the tax payer have spent a lot of money in this case and people complaint about it? That’s a difficult area to search for a body, the heat is unbearable, etc how about a little thanks to the people involved instead criticizing them? And he was a thug by the way I’m waiting for the autopsy report if it was foul play or what

His own fault. His mum should stop trying to blame others. She will milk this now, she'll be on all tv news, with tears of course.
I dont know why you keep saying close to his final phone ping , it really wasnt that close and given the terrain it isnt surprising its taken this long to find him
Exactly. I've heard it was a good 20 minutes away from that last phone ping. That's a very long distance when were talking about that very difficult terrain
His body was moved to that location. No way it wasn’t found earlier if it was there the whole time.

To answer the question why now, generally once the searchers have moved away and the area has quieted down, you leave individuals to observe and the birds will show where the body is as they come in to scavenge.

I think He’s left in the morning more than likely on a huge come down from the drugs/drink, wanted to get home, the bus wasn’t for 2 hours and he’s thought he will walk instead of waiting - he most probably thought of taking a short cut off the path and ultimately walked into immediate danger, he was dehydrated and I bet it was really hot weather and he has either fallen down and been injured and not been able to get back up or he’s passed out. Either way, he’s a young lad that’s probably made a silly decision and it’s cost him his life but my heart goes out to him and his family. This must be torture for them. I hope he rests in peace, and the family now get some peace also

Humans today
Your lucky you get help when a loved one goes missing
Your lucky you get free health care
Your lucky you live in a country you can get free housing
We sometimes overlook life and how lucky we are and the times we live
Be grateful you had help and people giving up there time
In life S**t happens unfortunately
But to then blame the help 👎🏽
This is what happens when you are venturing yourself dehydrated, without having the physical capability, adequate equipment nor the knowledge about the surroundings, especially after a sleepless night filled with booze.
Yes. An overdose in Los Christianos. Hence why his villa bedding is in last photo in Masca.
Probably because the body was in a very inaccessible place it was hard to spot
Does she come with subtitles?
Crazy How Hagrid Never Found Him
So so baffled.
Oh look, another armchair detective.

Families you must educate your children for safety and people around them
It hurts but ....he shouldn't have attempted such a walk in an unknown country and territory. The searchers are not the ones to blame.

Why the "demands"? Her son was found, and finding Jay even 10 days earlier would have the same results. Jay was aleady dead, and most likely died on the very 1st day he fell. Give thanks that he was found. Many go missing and never found. Take your son home, and give him a humble burial.
Unless it was placed there after Jay was murdered
Soo sad that someone has been found dead and if it is him he was soo young I really feel for his family regardless of how it happened.. we should respect him and his family ❤❤
No
Why is it always someone else's fault?
Ive got questions. Why would he decide to take an 11 hours walk instead of waiting a few hours for a bus? Why would he walk up the mountain instead of down the mountain? Why would he go off road instead of sticking to the main road. Why would he have less than 5% battery if he just left an air b&b. A lot of things are not adding up IMO....
Wasn’t Michael Murray found 100 yards from wheee they’d already searched .

This is so very similar to the missing 411 stories…..the area is searched so thoroughly and nothing is found only for the body to be found right beside an area that was already searched. Very strange indeed.
We live in such a trashy country now
Shouldn’t of called off the search especially when he was found so close to last known location it’s a disgrace what if it was there son would they of called it of then
Do keep up with progress and read quality newspapers.

His poor mum this is so heartbreaking
The question is how did they find his body the spanish terrain in the mountains is unbearably hot no one in there right mind would walk through there there lucky they found his body

Lucy still a lie, said jay sent her a screenshot of his location, but whoever took the screenshot was in los Cristianos. A body that's outside, decomposing, will not be in a great state after 4 weeks. And if he fell into thick vegetation then the body would not have been easily visible. The area he was found in was also described as 'very inaccessible'.

Sounds to me the Guardia Civil are very much meaning Mark Williams Thomas when they referred to 'amateur sleuths'. So it does seem to be fact Mark Williams Thomas hindered the investigation, which was predicted by many.
Yeea and what was this vital information only a few days ago?
Sorry but the tax payer have spent a lot of money in this case and people complaint about it? That’s a difficult area to search for a body, the heat is unbearable, etc how about a little thanks to the people involved instead criticizing them? And he was a thug by the way I’m waiting for the autopsy report if it was foul play or what
The area was literally where he was last seen and it took them over a month to find him. You'd think that the last known location would be the very first place you check not one of the last.
