I have lived in Springfield Missouri for 50 years, I think it's one of the top 10 in the United States.

Top 10 for violent crime LOL. Nooooo actually....Missouri state is #1 for for violent college crime; and Springhole is the 4th most dangerous town in America Oct 2022.
Springfield’s violent crime rate per 1,000 ranks 15.1, and the property crime rate per 1,000 is 69.5.
Do you have Keystone cops in the craphole city, or a Soros elected DA?

It’s really not that bad. Especially if you live in south Springfield like I did. There’s absolutely areas I would NEVER live, no doubt. But don’t let the crime to population ratio keep you from living cheap in a good city. I can help you find a great part of town, no matter your budget

While this appears to be true in sheer "reported" #s, it is vital for an accurate understanding to grasp the full context. Context tells us, the police chief warned us in an October letter to the editor roughly 5-6 years back that beginning the following January we would begin reporting crime stats using the FBI's recommended model. It gets too complicated to explain from thereon. Needless to say, the letter was quite lengthy and in a "put it in one paragraph at most culture' most fell sadly on deaf ears. I did read the entire article to the end but it seems since in talking with the general population that few did likewise. Sad as it was reported. To summarize many cities, especially larger cities do not report crime stats in a uniform manner. So a given person in our culture comparing their city's particular 'reported' crime rate with another city's 'reported' crime rate reflects, well, I'm really trying to be nice here. I don't mean to insult anyone but the comparison can not be made. It's easier to do so, I will grant that...but with so many cities, counties, and even states not reporting in a uniform manner an accurate comparison cannot be made. Hope that helps...the police chief warned us in that letter to the editor that at the end of the following first year of using the new reporting model that our crime rate would significantly increase (if memory serves he estimates a 3-4 maybe even 5 fold increase then would level off and begin a slow decline) which it did. Several years later using the same consistent uniform reporting model in 2022 we saw another 11% decrease. People may get frustrated at such an honest answer which can be initially confusing if deep research is not individually taken by oneself (as this is too lengthy to attempt an explanation in the media) but that doesn't change the accuracy. Why other cities, counties and states do not report consistently using the FBI's recommended reporting model ... you'd need to ask them. Or better yet, ask their Chamber of Commerce if they'd want consistent FBI methodology in their crime figures known to the general public.

Springfield is majority White and Republican if you don’t like it then move to St Louis. It annoys me when people complain about this type of stuff. No one is forcing you to live somewhere.

I live in Springfield for 3 years and moved from California and let me tell you guys this. It's big enough for it's size but the number thing I hear the most from people from other states is the restaurant food won't be the same from where you are from. Cost of living is cheaper the probably where you are from but remember pay wages are a lot lower. Crime rates are high but I never notice it to be hooest. Rental are high now so do your research before even thinking about moving to Springfield. Kansas city is more better with food and asian markets
