Thank you so much. Your comparison of the different microphones as an A/B listening test against the internal mic is the most helpful thing here, by far. Cheers!!
I agree but only because there was something wrong with it - it sounded like an earthing problem with a low buzz - might have been a bad cable or not quite plugged in (I'm guessing the former). But I was very impressed at how well the cheapest one held up which was good because I already ordered one! :)
Fantastic video Sagi! Well laid out and thoughtful. Full or pertinent technical points that should be considered highly when purchasing a mic for any purpose, especially the padding and frequency pass features. Well done fella!
Thank you for creating this fab and informative comparison video. I monitored with headphones for the full experience. Outstanding video! Since I am fairly new to photography (I shoot with the Canon M50 Mirrorless) I am on RUclips daily looking for new tips and equipment. This video was by far the best Ive ever seen.
From my experience the micro performs the same as the other budgets. The only upgrade is to get the video mic pro .. the go is pointless to upgrade too.
After watching your Rode Video mics vs Canon in camera mic, I have changed my mind about your videos. I find them very toxic. Toxic to my wallet and my credit cards! I don't need a Rode Mic or any other mic but must confess, after watching this review, I feel compelled to go out and buy at least, one. Early in your comparisons, it was quite obvious to see how lacking the Canon's in camera mic is. Sounded like you were in the shower. Listening to your Rode mic demos on all models brought me to the quick conclusion that any external mic is better than the camera's and all models sounded much more natural. Now, would you please have a little empathy on me and wait awhile before you post the next compelling, well thought out and executed video. Whatever you do, please don't review anything like the Canon 1Dx Mark II, or worse, any of the high end dedicated C line of Canon's video cameras. But if you do, please don't let me know because, based on your other video presentations, I would then have to sell the farm to buy whatever you were reviewing, whether I needed it or not. Let me tell you sir, all electronic mfgs. should immediately beg for your address, send you their products, then sit back and just wait for the orders to roll in. Great job.
Mike, I don't even know what to say. You had me going with the beginning of that comment. When I got to "very toxic" I was like "uh oh..." then I started laughing. I really appreciate you taking the time to both watch and leave such an amazing comment. I shoot with two C100MKII but I'll make sure I don't tell you about any other reviews 😂 Thank you again for the compliments.
Mike, that was one the funniest replies I have read, ever!! At the beginning I thought you were going to say something horrid and then I just couldn't stop laughing/agreeing with you. He is amazing at explaining things!! 😍
Do yourself a favor. Skip to the end. Where (in comparison) I say “Short answer:” I am a professional cinematographer. Began my career as a videographer for CBS. Interviewing celebrities such as Jamie Fox, Ice Cube, Frankie Muniz and more. Have credits on IMDB as well as a letter of recommendation from a former producer of Late Night with David Letterman declaring me as the best camera operator she’s ever hired. My older brother is a professional audio engineer with over two decades of experience and three Emmy awards. We have been following our passions since early childhood. My father brought home a black and white video camera that plugged into a heavy portable VHS recorder. From that moment forward every weekend, summer break, Christmas vacations, MLK Day, any and every opportunity. We were casting the neighbor hood kids to make sci fi thrillers, comedies, murder mysteries, music videos, and our favorite, ninjitsu super hero adventure mini-series. Actually, everything except for musicals. I would even spend countless hours creating frame-by-frame animations. In film school, where I won a cinematography award for my debut short film entry. One of the most important piece of information they drill into you from the very beginning is. “Audio is half the picture.” Did you know? Since the advent of audio with motion pictures. An audience would sit through an entire picture show, even if the film was heavily dense from scratches, out of focus, or even so poorly developed that there was no discernment between any of the blurry objects being projected on screen. The audience would still remain in their seats. Now whether or not they asked for their refunds, is up to anyone’s guess. But! The moment studios had the ability to synchronize audio to their productions. They learned a swift, valuable, and expensive lesson. If the audio for the picture was flawed in anyway. At all. There was no hesitation, the mass majority of the audience would up and leave. Refusing to watch. When I buy equipment. An eighth of my budget is spent on my camera and lenses. A quarter on, is there ever enough? Lighting. (*and remember, this is coming from a professional cinematographer. Painting with lights is how I put food on the table). Even then, as much as I wish there was a way to spend less. You cannot ever over invest in capturing audio as best as you possibly can. The piece of solace I get after every purchase is the assurance that whichever mic I buy, is going to last eons longer than any camera is. Perfect audio now, is still perfect when DSLRs get to a point of pretend 16K. Lights last as long as you treat them. Until they make portable suns with barn doors. I’ll always say at least one more would be perfect. If you buy the right mic. The kind that you never noticed one was ever used in production. (As in, a motion picture editor has the least rewarding job. If they’re any good. You’ll never notice their talent). Short answer: If you buy the right mic off the bat. It’ll be your last. I personally would prefer my camera manufacturers to invest their entire budget in developing a magnificent device that captures remarkable images. In the same sense I don’t want my microphone engineers to also include a camera they were able to assemble from money left over. Ya dig? But hey. It’s your audience.
Not sure if I should thank you for this amazing video, as you just convinced me to spend an extra 150 bucks to get the Pro instead of the micro! But as I'm about to film over 400 short videos that I have to edit and audio correct myself (and I'm NOT very experienced with that), it's clearly going to be money well spent. Thanks so much for the excellent quality and format of this video, subscribed!
I decided to go with the Rode VideoMic Pro. I didn't think I needed all the extra features of the plus and they sounded almost identical to me. Thanks!
Wow! I just want to take a moment to thank you for sharing all of your expertise in the camera and audio field. I am a novice purchasing my first DSLR camera and because of your shared knowledge, I am very confident of my purchases. Again, thank you.
Thank you for this video. Just picked up an EOS R today and was staring at the mics in the store. This video is exactly what I was looking for. VideoMic Pro here I come.
My man out here still replying to comments over 2 years after putting out the video. You've got a new sub in me Thanks for putting this up, I managed to find a used videomic pro for 100 bucks because the audio on my dji gimbal camera is kind of crap
@@TechGearTalk I can imagine, must have taken ages. 2 years old but still the most informative video on rode 🎤 that I've seen. Will definitely be forwarding to my friends and anyone interested in mics/ RUclips set up etc.
Thank you so much for this video. I bought my camera second hand and it came with a videomicro. Today I was browsing on a second hand store and saw the rode videomic for $99 AUD. New it retails for $188 here in Australia. I wanted to watch some reviews first before making a decision, and so glad I did. The videomic pro is only about 40 bucks more expensive here than the videomic and the quality is nigh and day, just the noise reduction makes such a huge difference. Your video has convinced me not to go for the videomic but to wait till I can find a videomic pro for a good price. Thanks so much!
You can use a preamp (see this video: ruclips.net/video/7MXDjkDmBQQ/видео.html ) which does an amazing job. Or a mic with a +20db option to boost the signal. There is also post-processing you can do (but it's best to capture the best signal you can)
Tech Gear Talk my post-processing wouldn’t work well. Because I edit completely on my iPhone. I want the camera and mic set up first though. I will check that one out too.
DUUUUDE! Thank you so much for this! I almost bought a Video Mic Go, and I would've hated myself for doing so. I'm definitely going for one of the Video Mic Pros. Thanks again!
Super glad it was helpful. It's possible that my GO was defective, but it's the only one I've ever used. You will NOT be sorry about either or the PROs.
Another great video that hits the spots! Thank you! I think that Pro is the worst choice here. The price is only 50$ lower than Pro Plus, but Pro Plus captures way more deep middles which is the main point for voice recording. So, Micro and Pro Plus are the best at their price points, and there is a competition between Mic and Go.
Thanks for the kind words! I agree that I would get the Pro Plus over the Pro every day. I think the GO had the highest noise floor, so I would get the videomic (although it's a lot bigger) over it. The Micro is surprisingly good for such a small form factor (and investment). Are you using a mic now?
Tech Gear Talk Only lavalieres for now (also Rode) - I don't use to record myself (vlog style). But everything is changing, and the Pro Plus is in my close buying list))) I agree that the Micro is a great bang for buck, but if you buy it, you buy it consciously for long audio post production.
You happy with the Rode lav? True about the Micro, but it's 100X better than camera or phone audio don't you think? Pro+ really has a nice sound, that's going to be a nice pickup!
Yes, i really like my Rode lav mic. I don't know about 100x, but the Micro is definitely an improvement over the internal microphones))) I hope that in the promised video ;) about the Micro you will make the audio samples by speaking directly to it, not only by turning on the record in front of it. That would show the exact capabilities of the Micro.
Rode should be paying you for this video. Very impressive work. I would ask next time you do sound test with camera about 6 feet back from your mouth. This is to emulate a talking head video or podcast style interview. THANKS for your work 👍👍👍
Man the first shotgun mic you used sounded quieter than the original camera mic, that makes me rethink even using the same cheap one that I have on and some people have complained that they can barely hear …. I definitely want to look into buying a higher quality mic, any suggestions?
Recommendation for worship music recording? With instrument like drum, base, piano, guitar, and mic/singing in the same room. Room size bigger music/living room. There's about 6 or 7 feet between where were standing and the phone
Hi bro, want to ask you about rode mic, after watch your rode mic video, im still dillema between videomic or videomic go,, can you recommend me ? Currently im using sl3 with build in camera mic and shoot street food (basically outdoor ) to upload on youtube Is it worth if i invest one of these 2, if im planning to use it again for future upgrade camera (probably will upgrade my camera to mirrorless in future) Are the videomic "mic" way too long forward for smaller mirrorless camera?? Can it disturb on frame? Sorry for this long question, thanks sagi :)
This is a very good question. I did not have any issues with either on of the mics showing up in the video. It would also have to do with the lens. (I would recommend going to a store if you're worried about your particular combo - but I have not heard anyone talking about it). My personal belief is that the Pro and Pro+ are much better (because of the +20 db), so what I would do now, is get the GO (less expensive and smaller) - or even the VideoMicro - and use it until you are ready to upgrade your setup. At that point, you will know if you also want to upgrade the microphone or if you are happy enough. I have a friend who uses the GO with a $2,000 camera and he's happy with it. I think the videomic is just bigger than you're going to want.
Okay, thanks for the advice sagi,, anyway between micro (which is still cardioid ) and videomic (that already super cardioid) are these polar pattern effect much in outdoor situation??, if it significantly effect much, maybe ill better go for videomic go?
This was such a great video! I just bought a Nikon Z50 and I want my audio to be just as beautiful as my pics and 4K video! This really helped me to pick a definite winner :) I loved how at the end of the video you kept playing what all the mics sound like so our ears can really hear the difference. I'm probably going to get the viodemic pro plus! Thanks and take care
So glad this was helpful and that the last demo was useful! Enjoy your Z50 (love that camera!). Appreciate you being part of and supporting the channel!
Thanks again.... BUT...Would liked of heard the first mic VideoMicro with it's wind screen... as It may have taken away the Tintie sound it was out putting..
Ha! Most people probably didn't realize how long it really took... But I'm happy with what it shows and I know a lot of people are picking between these mics, so I was hoping to help.
I have the Rode videomic go and the humming noise is driving me crazy. I can here it in this video as well starting at 7:04 but, I feel like it is much worse with my camera. I should have researched it more before I bought it. Thank you for the comparison, it was very helpful.
I totally agree about the GO. I wonder if something was wrong with the one I got. I also didn’t do anything in post. I really like the pro plus. What are you using?
Just a quick look with a FFT app, this corresponds exactly to 60Hz from your electrical installation. I'm wondering if it would do the same with 50Hz here in Europe...
Wow very interesting!! I was going to buy the VideoMicro, but after watching your video, I went with the VideoMic Pro :) Just bought it with yout affiliate link, thank you for your videos! I just subcribed, I'm sure I will learn lots of new things hehe :)
The hum from some of the tests is because the Rode-GO can pick up wireless waves which cause distortion. But it still a great mic, if you turn of your wirless router while you use it!
You shoot the most beautiful footage man!! I've never seen a RUclipsr who consistently has perfect lighting in every shot!!! I wish I had the same gift, but I'm def getting better. I finally got a 32" Neewer Softbox with a Godox SL60 Light, got my Canon M50 internal settings just right and i'm def happy with the outcome for my next video, but of course there is always room for improvements. Keep up the great work Gee!
I read a bunch of reviews on the videomicro vs videomic Go, which all said just go the micro, watched some videos, they sounded pretty much the same. But watching your video I now think I should have ordered the videomic Go.
I like your comparison, thumb up. I bought Rode VideoMic Go. I did a testing by taking a video, but the video has no sound at all. I guess it is because I did not set my Canon M50 right. Please advise how to set my camera. Thank you.
What you say about stereo mics is true - for Røde mics, that is. But some other stereo microphones - like the Sennheiser MKE 440 - are directional stereo microphones NOT designed for ambience, but designed to give a stereo image only of what the camera lens sees. This can help the human brain to separate the noise from the signal of interest, which is a neat trick of the human brain - which simply isn't possible with a mono recording.
Great information as always. Whenever I am thinking about buying extra gear for my camera or help with my camera setting, I know your videos will be reliable and informative.
Damn man, that was a GREAT comparison video! Very educational and extremely well thought out, in great detail! I have a Tascam digital recorder that I use on my GoPro because I think the MediaMod directional mic isn't quite "full" enough for me and I was thinking of the Go2, but the slightly bigger videomic has the fullness I'm looking for. Gotta carry both on me though in case I'm looking for a landscape scene or a detailed one haha. Keep it up, great job!
7:21 There is a low frequency buzzing the Rode VideoMic Go is picking up... Also it would be better if you compared the new mic against the last one you showed. For example, when you bring out the VideoMic Go you should compare between Video Micro and VideoMic Go.. We already get it.. The onboard mic sounds trash. but I want to hear direct comparison to the LAST mic featured so I can compare with THAT one, not the onboard mic every time.
I was bought a Røde VideoMic Go for Christmas as I wanted to upgrade from ME. I haven’t tried it yet but after watching this, I’m already thinking of an upgrade! 😅
As always, very informative and excellent presentation! I just purchased a Canon M50 which your videos were instrumental in helping me select. Though the camera will be used primarily for travel, I would like to interview my father regarding his memories, experiences, etc. Nothing extravagant but merely a series of casual conversations across the kitchen table with both of us in frame. What kind of microphone would you suggest for something like this? I’d be interested if you have any lens suggestions as well. Thanks, Sagi, and, again, great videos!
Hi again. Thank you for watching! A few questions, in this conversation, do you plan on recording both of you with 1 mic? How important is it that the mic/s are not visible?
@@TechGearTalk I'm not tech savvy so it hadn't occurred that I could use more than one microphone though I think that one would be ample... maybe? It's of no importance whatsoever whether the mic(s) are visible as this is merely for familial posterity and not for any kind of production. Many thanks for your response and thoughts.
Hi, thanks for the nice video. I only make documentaries outdoors, for working people (ethnic groups in remote countryside). I would like to ask a question please: I have a GH6 camera and its microphone is good. Again, I don't use the camera in my country, but only when traveling far. I don't do interviews. If you were me, would you use a small external mic or would you do without it? Thank you.
Thank you for your thorough explanation about the mikes. My personal conclusion is that the more money you invest, the better the sound, so I'll stick to my earlier gut-decision of getting the Rode videoMic Pro (€166,00). Thank you again for your brilliant comparison.
You're very welcome Micaela - I'm glad the comparison was helpful. If you buy the videomic pro or videomic pro plus - I can't see you needing to replace them at any point.
@@TechGearTalk yes it does go through today. Although the Rode mic doesn't identify as "Pro Plus" but it looks like the right one. Could you please check? Australian link is: www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0749GV5L3?tag=techgeartalk-22 . Title is "RODE VideoMic Directional Video Condenser Microphone with Mount (Model Discontinued by Manufacturer) VideoMic Pro Rycote Lyre+" . The fact that it is discontinued makes me wonder if I should go with the Pro model?
I just bought my first external microphone & choose the Rode Pro Plus so I didn’t have to upgrade. I went for the newest Rode Pro Plus $299 at Best Buy. Thanks.
Is it me or Did your RODE test of the $99 VideoMic GO have a distinctive HUM ? What I also find interesting after watching multiple video on-camera mics is nobody is talking about splitters... to Split the Right and left channel so U can run a Shotgun mic on Ch1 and a lav ( wireless) mic on ch. 2 - Good Review as I need ( want) to get a small Mic for the Sony A7iii.
Great review. Unbelievable production quality! The picture quality is like eyecandy. I would like to see what camera do you use but even more the lighting is the interesting part because that is in my opinion the most important factor, after you have a decent camera. Why is there this low hum with a couple of the mics? Is it just quality issue, because the most expensive ones have less of that?
Great comparison!! Thank you very much. I was curious to know what microphone are you using to record this video? It has a very good sound, if you can talk, I will appreciate it.
So I love this stuff and could watch all day. Just one quibble with this video. If I understand correctly, all of the tests were done at about 18 inches away even though you say there will be more coming with the source farther away. At 18 inches, a real video would be like a selfie closeup. So if that is the use case, Rode is typically going to give you good results in a relatively quiet room. In my case, I shoot almost all talking head videos where at least 3/4ths of a human is in frame. So we are talking maybe 5 feet or so. Similar tests would yield different results. Still, I prefer using the VMP+ over a Rode wireless kits because you don't have to worry about the transmitter. When I use the VMP+, noise reduction software in post usually does a good job. So not trying to be negative as much as saying adding tests with farther source distances would be useful. Your tests prove that for selfie videos or ones where the subject is close in, the difference in quality isn't huge. Those pads and filters make huge differences if the subject needs to step back a bit. My 2 cents. Thanks again for taking the time.
Thanks so much for the input Brian. The "short" is that I shot it at 30 and 48 as well, but when I showed the video to a few friends they said it was too long. And since the room is somewhat treated, they were very proportional in quality to the 18" results. I don't have the same experience as you with regards to the distance though. Personally, I would always use an off-camera shotgun mic if I'm 5 feed away from the subject (unless I'm using a lav or a handheld) so I think this example goes beyond a selfie. I think a good idea would have been to do the test in a noisier environment at various distances to demonstrate what each mic could do in terms of isolating the voice. As far as the pads vs distance. Wouldn't it be the same at any distance. You're lowering your camera's gain and raising it on the mic. You still need to get acceptable levels so if it's not loud enough you have to raise the internal mic levels a bit regardless of using the +20db. I always appreciate critical comments; it's the only way for me to grow and learn 🙏
Thank you for the good information. I have a Rode-videomic and i like the sound, and after listening to the different tests i think that the rode-videomic is a good choice for the video's that i make.
What's up everyone?! I hope this comparison of the complete Rode Shotgun video microphones is helpful. Which would you get? Did you like it? Was there too much detail? Not enough? Yes, even through my iPad speakers I could hear that the two most expensive mics sounded the best.
That buzz is horrendous, glad I watched as I was going to buy one. Probably due to the power and information both sharing the same cable.
Hopefully you have also a dead quiet amp for those headphones.

Very nice production. Audio tests can be very ephemeral and I appreciate your scientific approach in the reduction in variables in your testing.
Glad it was useful Scott - appreciate the feedback.
So interesting. The micro outperformed the go in terms of sound quality, IMO, but then the standard videomic and up showed steady improvement.

Do yourself a favor. Skip to the end. Where (in comparison) I say “Short answer:”
I am a professional cinematographer.
“Audio is half the picture.”
Did you know?
So glad I was able to help you make a decision. Good luck with the new project!
Superb review. Thank you!
I decided to go with the Rode VideoMic Pro. I didn't think I needed all the extra features of the plus and they sounded almost identical to me. Thanks!
This was such an in depth video! Can't believe it hasn't even broke 100k views yet! Deservs a million for the amount of work you put into it lol
Wow, thank you! It really was a lot of work so I'm glad it was helpful!
Wow!!! This was some serious detailed information and now you're making me wanna step up my mic to one of the more professional Rode mics!
All in due time! Those last two sound really good right?
@@TechGearTalk lol yes they too! Great video man!!!
It's endless.
This video was so in depth and helpful! The time flew by! Thanks for doing this.
Glad it was helpful. Appreciate the kind words 🙏🏻
My man out here still replying to comments over 2 years after putting out the video. You've got a new sub in me
Thanks for putting this up, I managed to find a used videomic pro for 100 bucks because the audio on my dji gimbal camera is kind of crap
This might have been the most helpful youtube video I've ever seen. No joke. This was absolutely incredibe. TY!
One of the best reviews I have seen to date. Great job!
So glad it was helpful!
WORLDS better and more thorough than any other review I stumbled across before this one :)
By far the most useful video for rode microphones I've found on RUclips yet! Well done. I really appreciate you making this one!
So glad it was helpful! It was a lot of work to make, but I was trying to really let people hear the difference.
@@TechGearTalk I can imagine, must have taken ages. 2 years old but still the most informative video on rode 🎤 that I've seen. Will definitely be forwarding to my friends and anyone interested in mics/ RUclips set up etc.
🙏🏻
Thank you so much for this video. I bought my camera second hand and it came with a videomicro. Today I was browsing on a second hand store and saw the rode videomic for $99 AUD. New it retails for $188 here in Australia. I wanted to watch some reviews first before making a decision, and so glad I did. The videomic pro is only about 40 bucks more expensive here than the videomic and the quality is nigh and day, just the noise reduction makes such a huge difference. Your video has convinced me not to go for the videomic but to wait till I can find a videomic pro for a good price. Thanks so much!
So glad I was able to help!
How can we better get rid of white noise?? The VideoMicPro sounded great. Like...holy crap! That audio is beautiful!
The pro and pro+ sound so good!
Tech Gear Talk yes, it sounded like there was almost no white noise.
Agreed
DUUUUDE! Thank you so much for this! I almost bought a Video Mic Go, and I would've hated myself for doing so. I'm definitely going for one of the Video Mic Pros. Thanks again!
Super glad it was helpful. It's possible that my GO was defective, but it's the only one I've ever used. You will NOT be sorry about either or the PROs.
wizdumtv which one did you end up getting?
Very interesting- all picked up a hum though. Pretty clear that the two pros are the best with the lowest background hiss. Thanks for this.
Wow! Great Video! Really helped me make the choice! Thanks for taking the time to make the presentation so thoroughly!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for being part of the channel!
The quality of your videos just blow me away! Wish you all the best, see you at 1M subs :D
Thanks for the kind words Thomas! Hope the video was helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.
dude, seriuosly, your're the best! such a direct and orderly presentation, you have a face we trust. keep it up
Super appreciate the kind words and support. Thanks for being part of the channel.
@@TechGearTalk very well deserved! Cheers
Tech Gear Talk
Only lavalieres for now (also Rode) - I don't use to record myself (vlog style). But everything is changing, and the Pro Plus is in my close buying list)))
I agree that the Micro is a great bang for buck, but if you buy it, you buy it consciously for long audio post production.
You happy with the Rode lav?
True about the Micro, but it's 100X better than camera or phone audio don't you think?
Pro+ really has a nice sound, that's going to be a nice pickup!
Yes, i really like my Rode lav mic.
I don't know about 100x, but the Micro is definitely an improvement over the internal microphones)))
I hope that in the promised video ;) about the Micro you will make the audio samples by speaking directly to it, not only by turning on the record in front of it. That would show the exact capabilities of the Micro.
I'll see if i can incorporate that as well.
Rode should be paying you for this video. Very impressive work. I would ask next time you do sound test with camera about 6 feet back from your mouth. This is to emulate a talking head video or podcast style interview. THANKS for your work 👍👍👍
4:15 what would happen if I used the mini vid mic for Live events eg. Professional fireworks display with loud music
Man the first shotgun mic you used sounded quieter than the original camera mic, that makes me rethink even using the same cheap one that I have on and some people have complained that they can barely hear …. I definitely want to look into buying a higher quality mic, any suggestions?
Thanks Sagi, you're very thorough and your examples make it very easy to help people buy the right product for their needs.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind words!
Currently im using sl3 with build in camera mic and shoot street food (basically outdoor ) to upload on youtube
Is it worth if i invest one of these 2, if im planning to use it again for future upgrade camera (probably will upgrade my camera to mirrorless in future)
Are the videomic "mic" way too long forward for smaller mirrorless camera??
The videomic go will give you more focused pickup pattern than the micro which might work really well for when you are in really noisy situations.
Ok, i think ill go for videomicgo,, thanks for the recommendation bro :)
Glad to help. I would love to know what you think when you get it!
This was such a great video!
I just bought a Nikon Z50 and I want my audio to be just as beautiful as my pics and 4K video!
This really helped me to pick a definite winner :)
I loved how at the end of the video you kept playing what all the mics sound like so our ears can really hear the difference.
I'm probably going to get the viodemic pro plus!
Thanks and take care
So glad this was helpful and that the last demo was useful! Enjoy your Z50 (love that camera!). Appreciate you being part of and supporting the channel!
This comparison video is above and beyond the best🙏🏽 thank you so freaking much 🙏🏽
So glad it was helpful. Thank you for the kind words and support!
Thanks again.... BUT...Would liked of heard the first mic VideoMicro with it's wind screen... as It may have taken away the Tintie sound it was out putting..
This is THE BEST rode mic video I've ever seen.
can't imagine the time to make this, u gat a new sub! keep it going!
Ha! Most people probably didn't realize how long it really took... But I'm happy with what it shows and I know a lot of people are picking between these mics, so I was hoping to help.
Fantastic comparison video, it helped me decide which mic is right for me - I appreciate the work you e put into this!
One of the most loved channels, MKBHD level of dedication.
Keep up the good work bro.
Appreciate you!
Oh yes. As soon as I saw that you had a video on this topic, I knew this would answer all my questions. As always, great work!
So glad to hear it!!! Thank you for the kind words!
@@TechGearTalk happy to support! You've gotta be one of the most elaborate people I've come across!
I have the Rode videomic go and the humming noise is driving me crazy. I can here it in this video as well starting at 7:04 but, I feel like it is much worse with my camera. I should have researched it more before I bought it. Thank you for the comparison, it was very helpful.
I'm so glad the video was helpful (sorry that it didn't get to you in time to help you make the decision...)
wow! what a well spoken, clear and great video production review.
Really helpful. Thank you ;)
I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and for the kind words. Thank you for joining the community 🙏
love that video. cant get it that I actually searched for iphone mics and landed hearing yout whole video. love the end summary
I’m so glad it was useful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
They are all pretty noisy till you get to the pro and pro plus. The 2nd one had a nasty hum going on as well.
I totally agree about the GO. I wonder if something was wrong with the one I got. I also didn’t do anything in post.
I really like the pro plus. What are you using?
@@TechGearTalk no the go does that. It has interference with some frequencies.
Just a quick look with a FFT app, this corresponds exactly to 60Hz from your electrical installation. I'm wondering if it would do the same with 50Hz here in Europe...
Great video! Best RODE comparison video I've seen
Thanks so much for the input Frank! It was very close to the router so that makes a lot of sense 🙏. Appreciate you taking the time to share.
Thank you.
Really helpful. Also very innovative methods of testing. Helped me a lot in choosing the best suitable mic for my own purposes .. subscribed :)
Thanks for the feedback Moiz. Glad the video was helpful and appreciate you subbing!
Fantasic comparison man, well done.
So glad it was helpful.
really a super good video, very helpful and so detailed comparison of different models.
Glad it was helpful! Appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback!
Outstanding review. Extremely helpful. Cheers from Australia.
I'm super glad this video was helpful and am grateful for the kind words about my videos 🙏
Very very helpful! I learned what I've been hoping for in the last year & a half time. Thanks.
Can you plug these microphones into a pc or does it have to be into a camera, because I cant afford a good camera right now.
Great audio in your video. Could you please share a detailed video on how you do audio processing in post?
can the humming of the Rode VideoMic Go be cut out? if not I'd say that's a dealbreaker.
This video was very informative ....... very informative .... thanks for taking the time to make it. It helped me a lot. You have a new subscriber.
So glad that it was helpful - welcome to the channel!
I was bought a Røde VideoMic Go for Christmas as I wanted to upgrade from ME. I haven’t tried it yet but after watching this, I’m already thinking of an upgrade! 😅
Thanks for sharing! It's possible that the one I had was faulty. Super interested in what you get out of yours. Regardless, either PROs are excellent!
You can use a splitter with 2 mics if you want. You can also record externally.
Extremely detailed video, best one to date.
Oh wow, thanks so much! Appreciate you watching.
I am SOOOO glad you made a video like this! Thank you!

@@TechGearTalk Your welcome 🙌
This was a great comparison. It has really helped my discernment. Much appreciated!
Super glad to hear that it was helpful! Which did you pick?

Good choices. It's supposed to redirect - would appreciate feedback about whether it actually does.
@@TechGearTalk yes it does go through today. Although the Rode mic doesn't identify as "Pro Plus" but it looks like the right one. Could you please check? Great video and outstanding professionalism
Thank you so much, I’m very grateful for the feedback. Which mic did you like best?
High quality video! Excellent content.
I'm mostly interested to find out what microphone you used to record the actual video.
How about an update that includes the VideoMic NTG, the VideoMic Go ii and the VideoMicro ii?
Amazing comparison video- thank you so much for the work!
Glad you liked it Kelcy! Hope it was helpful. Thanks for being part of the channel!
Always love your videos. Great job.
I appreciate that - so glad they are being useful!
Damnit... I knew the last one was gonna be the one that I wanted lol. Thanks so much for the great video!
