  • This is a beginner's introduction to OnShape. Here, I show my students how to make a simple nameplate for their robotics toolboxes.
To get started, check out these videos...

In this video, I explain how to make sketches, extrude faces, and add text to a design.
Some of the tools used are:
    circle
    inscribed polygon (triangle, octagon, pentagon)
    rectangle
    line (+ construction line)
    text
    dimension
    transform
    fillet
Some of the constraints introduced are:
    midpoint
    coincident
    vertical
    horizontal
I also explain about more esoteric parts of OnShape, such as:
editing the appearance (color) of a part
setting the material of the part (via the OnShape Material Library)
finding the mass, volume, surface area, and center of mass of a part
    renaming parts
    renaming Part Studios
Finally, I show how to export a part as an STL file so it can be 3D-printed.
