Good to see you again Lone! My family spent a lot of time with you and your videos for Fallout 76 and I wanted to thank you for the value you provided to us for 76 and look forward to your Starfield coverage. From our family of 6, big hugs and Keep fighting the good fight!
Mate, I needed to hear this. Thank you. Can't express how much I appreciate your support throughout the 76 days.
Can confirm the fps using a 4090 100%. With the added DLSS3 I'm getting 120fps - 130fps on average. My rig setup
1440p Razer @ 165Hz
4090 RTX 24GB
i-9 13900K
64GB RAM
4TB SSD
Zero fps drops, bugs or glitches (thankfully) to date.
My guess is ppl are either having CPU or GPU locking based on their hardware configuration. But installing the free DLSS 3.5 mod (get off Nexusmods) will work wonders for folks with lower end hardware (e.g. i5 and/or less then 3000 Ti GPU).
I just wanted to say a few things:
1. I promised I wouldn’t watch any reviews before I play later today
2. I made an exception for you because I know and trust the way you look at BGS games.
Thank you! All the best to you, Lone.
Thank you for putting faith in me mate. Your support means the world.
It's shite
Oh gosh I'm so excited that I'm actually very nervous.
I put in 7 hours today and I absolutely love it already. I can't believe so far I've experienced 0 bug and no frame rate drops I could notice on my series X.
I've had one glitch so far and I got 21 hours in
You love a game that has the worst exploration in any game ever
This is the first game they optimized primarily for consoles. It’s really sad. I bought a cheap gaming PC specifically for FO and TES games. I honestly don’t play much else. I play Resident Evil, GTA, RDR, TES and FO, that’s it. I’m probably never gonna buy a “next gen” console, they didn’t really change anything.
@@bevanmcnicholl2525 You have never played No Man's Sky or Star Citizen
God I’m hooked already. Haven’t had a game to truly entice me this much in a while. Only played 8 hours so far and I know for a fact I haven’t even scratched the surface 😂
8:20 I was having some issues with quest markers as well but I don't think it was a bug. You can see in this menu there is an option at the bottom for 'Show Only Active Targets'. I think when there are too many quests in one area, it will only show so many before your selected quest can't be shown. While they could streamline that a bit better, when I toggle that option the quest I have activated always has a quest marker.
Instead of chunking power allocation (which I'm not a fan of, either) out the window, how about a QOL fix that gives us "loadouts" for power allocation that we can save as favorites. One for hauling ass, one for combat, one for defense, etc. I think that would help the ridiculous tediousness of power allocation while getting blasted into oblivion.
Every review I saw says how good the quests are except for IGN and GameSpot lol. Keep up the good work Lone 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks mate. Don't listen to them, you'll love the quests.
Gamespot is a joke and IGN is well, IGN. The lesser ones if u will are the truly good ones IMHO.
Probably not enough Trans
Great review Lone!! One thing I do want to say is you don’t NEED to use the star map to travel. You can use your scanner and physically look at other planets in the system and travel to them, or if your objective is in another system you can travel to that as well by looking at the icon.
Giving your video an honest review, I give it a 10/10! I have been watching videos since the embargo was lifted and this review is among the best. Thanks.
You're the best thank you
I've seen good reviews but you're review and video really got me super excited to play this for the first time in a few hours. Thanks Lone!
Have been waiting for your review, Lone!
Thats the point about barren planets though, to find resources. There are still things like abandoned buildings, outposts etc but the main thing is for resources in those places
Great review. Regarding Starfield's NPCs, CDPR have set that bar and I don't think BGS are getting even vaguely close to what you see in W3 or CP2077. I can see all the improvements in facial animations and it's a much higher standard than even my ultra modded Skyrim setup is doing, but even so, this is quite primitive in 2023. They've done wonders with this engine, they really have. But it's clearly hitting a lot of walls. It's time for BGS to face the music and tap into that rich M$ vein.
Glad your back buddy. Thanks for putting in the work to post this
What a fantastic detailed review! Love watching your videos and thanks for taking the time to put this together. Really looking forward to trying the game out on the 6th. Cheers!
Subscribed, nice video. You highlight the negatives perfectly without harping on about them like some do. Thank you.
Excellent, most comprehensive review I've seen so far. Great job...
That means a lot, thank you
Im trying to start my premium edition but its telling me I'm too early...:-(@@LoneVaultWanderer EDIT had to re-download from MS store. Im in now...
Amazing review Lone. Been waiting for your review. This gave me a really good understanding what Starfield has to offer. I cant wait to sink so many hours into it. I'm looking forward to all the future videos you do for it.
Thank you James
I love Starfield. Soooo huge and vast, beautiful graphics and fun game play.. youre in for a treat. 🎉
I had that bug yesterday for a few hours, the good thing was that utilising the scanner to show where to go did still work for the current quest. It did fix itself, but it does still have another out of system marker showing.
I've had one mission bug out completely and lost a hour or so of progress as it didn't seem to register any saves when moving through doors or jumping between systems, but I just did other stuff instead of jumping back to that particular mission.
Amazing review!
Cant wait to play
Fantastic review
Great review dude!
Thank you 🙏🏼
Great review!! Definitely lookin forward to this one
Great review ! Fair criticism where deserved, as is your praise of the systems/things you like. I learned a lot about Cyberpunk 2077 from your videos on that game ( both lore and how to fix things with mods) and look forward to doing the same with this game. Your opinions and musings always seem to be carefully thought through and delivered honestly. That is surprisingly rare these days. thanks for providing these discussions. I can really only afford a couple of videogames a year, and the work and effort you put in to help me avoid costly disappointments.
Your content has always been engaging, good to see a new video about the most anticipated game of the year.
Thank you Alex. Means a lot mate
Hell yeah Lone thanks for the review, can't wait!
thanks for posting the review.
My heartfelt disappointment:
No legit *space* travel - In an open world *space* game?
Todd Howard: "We let you design and build your own ship. And yes, you can fly it."
Fly it, or 'cutscene it' ?
Great video man!! been watching your videos since the start.
Perfect review mate! 🎉
I think it’s really cool that the surveying feels like a job because that sounds exactly like what a constellation member would be doing. Spending weeks on one planet or one system just gathering data. I get the sense starfield is a slow paced game which is very exciting for me because that’s how I like to play.
Really? You play games to feel like you are working? Get a job and actually get paid, wouldn't that be better?
@@laah8916 lol gee yah a real job sure does sound better than being in outer space, exploring an alien planet. What was I thinking? I should just go back to waiting tables
@@scoutthespirit1133 If both are work, it's better to get paid for it, no?
@@laah8916 we must have different definitions of what work is. I would go to an alien planet and live there completely isolated collecting alien plant samples for free, because that sounds like fun to me.
@@scoutthespirit1133 Except this is reality and you are playing a game. A game that you compare to work.
Well I have watched you, Juice, and Matty and of all three you it seems you liked it the most. But all three of you have left me deflated. I am hoping the love of gaming holds me as I am so let down right after seeing these. My Constellation Editon is not going to arrive until tomorrow and I was actually going to buy the Game Pass upgrade this afternoon so I could play tonight...I think I am going to wait until it arrives now. Sad Day.
I disagree. The dumb down ugly NPC’s was a stupid choice. The loading screens, walk here, get it, walk back etc. The amount of time it took was boring 😂 The good was really good. But the bad was over the top. Overall, play it - it’s your time. I’m going back to Fallout Series and enjoy every moment 💞 Maybe in a couple of years the game will have some real quests & stories.
First time viewer here. Heard about you from watching @mrmattyplays video and he mentioned you. I’ve been playing starfield and loving it but I still enjoy hearing others views as well. Loved your video and you have a new subscriber here. Keep it up man. Awesome video
9/10 is fair score. No game is flawless and there is allways something to in prove and thats only a good thing. I have never in my life played 10/10 game but close to it certainly!
Yeah, I personally would give every BGS game I've played a 9/10 besides fallout4 and 76. They're still my absolute favorite games
What a great in depth review lone. Looking forward to more videos!! Keep up the great work ❤
One of the best and most balanced Starfield reviews out there. You've done a great job, and have a very pleasant voice. Thank you!
Mate thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it
Regarding credit for surveying planets: If you pick up missions to survey planets, you actually do get abt 10k total for surveying a planet in the end
However, for me this felt too low for how much time it took and how much I wasn't really having fun
Great review! I have to be honest, I actually like the empty planets to explore. It gives me Minecraft mixed with Oblivion vibes. I'm sure dlc is going to add new things to find over time.
People don't realize it but there are so many custom points of interest and these planets you just have to get out and explore
I'm not going to watch any reviews - except yours. Thank you for not spoiling! You're the best, Lone
I saw it running in ultrawide at gamescom. I too have an ultrawkde and was very relieved to see it running.
The moment is here!!! 🎉
I think people would be more forgiving of the dialogue animation if most people hadn't just come off baldurs gate which is so much more interactive and interesting coming from a far smaller studio. In general, this game was hurt coming off the back of baldurs gate
Excellent review mate. Only just got a chance to watch. ❤
it is 8/10 I played 5000k hours of f76 and still plays it every day and I still have f4 vibes with this game only played 20 hours and know this will keep me busy for years
Great review my dude
Good to see you again!! And cannot wait for your guides!
Hello LVW. Are there flamethrower type weapons in Starfield?
Not that I saw but there could be. Loads of weapons
Sounds solid for a new IP this size. Can't wait to play tonight!
Thank you for your dedication to bringing us the best content. I appreciate all you do ❤
First off great video mate. Very informative. Secondly, you mentioned at 20:54 that we could sell surveyed planet info for 'caps'. You've been playing WAY too much Fallout, LOL!!
Hahaha I noticed it too
I can't wait for your builds, tips and tricks. Edit: On the exploration. It definitely won't bother me. I'm a veteran Elite Dangerous player and I loved being out there in the 'Black' just scanning planets and jumping from star system to star system and let me tell you ... most people will agree that Elite Dangerous is as boring as it gets since you can't leave your ship, no NPCs, etc. But I loved it.
This was a great review!! Very informative!!
Good review lone, been waiting for yours tbh. Ive found in the community my sensibilities line up with you the best. As new IP i didnt expect it to be "better" than fallout or elderscrolls but im glad it seems engaging enough to add a new set of lore that will pay off for years.
I gotta say, Starfield's 30 fps is the most 60-ish thirty I've ever played
Lmao
I have to say with the right fidelity 30fps isn’t all that bad.
@@fiftydabs5114 and when it stays locked at 30 and doesn't fluctuate, that really helps.
The graphic style is exactly the same as the fallout games. Just better updated graphics. Its a good game for sure. I got 21 hours in and i started playing it yesterday at 830pm lol. But to be really honest.. it was over hyped like crazy
My major bug was that the game crashed three minutes into the game, at the end of the first hallucination. I had to turn off FSR to play the game, which was irritating since I have an AMD CPU & Graphics card. But once I got past that bug, it was clean sailing. Had two CTDs in the next 29 hours. That's great for a BGS game.
“Brutally honest review” = loves everything about the game. I’m happy you liked it but not sure how brutal this review was haha
I think the exploration is just a bonus. Maybe some will get bored with it after a few planets. I haven’t even gotten that far yet. I’m not sure if I’ve even been formally introduced to the survey system. I do plan on surveying at least one system to see if there’s any additional payouts.
So, how much do you get paid for puff pieces like this? A 9 out of 10? I like this game, but it's a solid 6 maybe a 7 if they add some stuff that should have already been in the game like a city map or some npcs that reacted to you in public. The horrible companions, npcs, the dialog that was horrendous, the lack of a city map or journal system, and the incredibly dumb ai in combat made this game hard to play sometimes. It feels rushed and that a lot of the game was either too big for the development team to handle or everything was an afterthought.
If I had a complaint about the character models, it's that the mouths open way too wide when they're speaking. Not many people naturally show off loads of teeth when they're talking, it's very odd. I think that, combined with some of the weirdly light coloured eyes kind of make them seem unnatural/uncanny valley looking. Also... hairstyles. I've played 40 hours and not encountered any bugs though, except one guard in Akila City walking around in his underwear. Quests are really absorbing, some of the side activities led me into really interesting side stories. Companions feel really grounded too and have interesting back stories and dialogue. Voice acting is great. Hope that the outpost building will get some DLC or some good mods down the line, the top down view is great.
you didn't touch on this, but i'm guessing there is no way to increase level speed like inteligence in fallout?
The game tells you if there is something interesting there. All you have to do is scan and "unknowns" will be revealed. If you don't want to see anything that isn't curated then don't select any custom landing zones.
Holy shit, everyone is doing a 40+ min review of this game.
I think a lot of the criticism stems from players expecting a space simulator similar to No Man's Sky. All the load screens and fast travel can take you out of the immersion. I love the game personally, but I can see why some have been disappointed.
Looks really good on gamepass and i tried it on my mobile data on my tab s7 plus i can read manga and explore the galaxy. If you shrink the screen when sharing screen with another tab the resolution switches which improves the graphics
Awesome review Lone many thanks for putting this together.. 🤟
Thank you for watching Adam!
As a fan of CAMP building in 76, the barren planets are super interesting to me
Seriously one of the biggest draws to this game for me
Yes absolutely agree. This game is a modders Mecca. All that real estate waiting to be developed. Man...
So glad to see you again Lone you helped me so much on 76 I was lost when it came to the builds I played pretty much all BTS games but I never had a good grasp of my character builds until your videos explained them with 76 so glad you are back with Starfield can't wait to see what you bring us I have close to 90 hours in and I am absolutely loving it great vid keep it up brother
My friend my friend , i watched your video 1st then about 4-5 other RUclipsrs ! And yours is amazing , because you are talking about the game , not about how busy your life is and how shity the game is ! Thanks for this my man ! The bwst as always!
No, thank you. That means the world mate.
As far as i remember, the "power allocation" thingy first surfaced in Star Wars's "X-Wing" game.
Is it so???
Amazing review!! I've played for about 6 hours so far and i really like it. There is sooooooo much going on an so much to see, which I like. The only thing I'm not really a fan of is flying the ship and I think it's because I'm not good at it and it makes me dizzy lol
Edit...I HATE the ship combat lol. I switched the game to very easy just so I finish the fight lol
Agree, I know it sounds silly being that it's a space game, but I hate everything to do with the ship flying/combat/building it all a no for me lol
I love this game...don't play it till the 5th at 5 pm Pacific Time, BUT I AM PHUCKED OVER BY THE GREATNESS OF IT! I have seen parts of Raptor's Let's Play videos...and I am blown away!
I’m about 10 hours in and man I’m so disappointed. More so in myself for buying into the hype. I loved Fallout 3,4 NV and Skyrim. But those games hooked me much quicker than Starfield. The story in SF is so boring too me. And the planets have no life to them. Yea space isn’t filled with life but this is a game not a space sim. Don’t get me started on the endless loading screens. The AI and characters is horrid and has no personality. Graphics are okay but the 30 fps doesn’t help at all. The music is nice though. I cannot recommend this game to anyone unless you have gamepass already.
most of us are still on rtx 2xxx series or even running on a gtx 1070/1080 due to inflated prices and shortages last few years.
so if you have problems with a recent 24gb gpu... i fear we will have to expect a lot of problems even going 1080p.
the people i saw that did a review on starfield, all had at least a 3090 .
was that a prerequisite for reviewing this game?
nefas said it ran great on a 2080
the 3090 is good by all means but alot of the new nvidia card and 3000 series cards get 70% of their boost from dlss, hes talking about 4k without dlss and can barely get 60 frames constantly, the 3090 needed dlss to get 4k60fps on cyberpunk. youll be fine as long as its 1080 and no higher.
@@llyeagerll7960 well apparently i am not fine with my ryzen 3500, 2070 and 32 gm mem.... and hit, sometimes, if lucky, only 45 fps at medium 1080!
with a lot of stutter.
also no native dlss support.
so don't bother yet if you got a 1070/1080/2060/2070 (non-s)
@@eelco_de_haan theres so much to take into account, memory speed, the exact cpu, and even age, older parts are gonna run slower than the same parts but new.
@@llyeagerll7960 man, hardware doesn't degrade like machine parts, no moving parts except fan.....
degrading in hardware you will notice by errors and bad sectors, etc.
i know my hardware, and i know how devs like bethesda focus on a certain gpu "demographic".
the one that gives them the best "fidelity" and quality to showcase their game.
all other cards are an afterthought and will take at least a year to optimize so we can play it at a certain standard.
also butt-ugly game, so it is due to bad code not the graphical intensity...
which makes deadline over quality evident .
first you go "nah you be allright, because bla bla bla" .
when i say i'm not allright and got the low fps i feared....you go and change the reason to "degrading" and the eclectic nature of used parts?
that is a non argument, as all pc devs work with that fact since the concept of gaming on pc.
why we have min med and max settings in option.
could also say "yeah i was wrong, you were right". 🤣🤦
Given that I have a 1080 monitor it should work well for me and I am sure DLSS will be a mod in the near future.
Let's go boi!!!
Lone you are one of my favorite Bethesda content creators. Probably the best actually
Gonna make me cry here mate, thank you
Awesome video Lone!
You must of been playing a different main quest to me, I wonder if that day 1 patch did it
I’m having the worst audio bugs but other than that the game is awesome
Just thinking about how good this looks I can only imagine how good TES6 will look.
@36:44 im glad they didnt put a radio in the game cause i dont have to worry about copyright strikes when i record a lets play of the game
Goated Aussie RUclipsr 🐐 Great review mate! Thanks.
Woah I just realized your the same dude that does the pod with Rob Whittaker!!!
As far as not enough companions im sure we will get a ton more over the years !
I think the game is good. It is nowhere near what it was hyped up to be though or what I was hoping. I mean, go to a random planet and I simply don't care to, because when I get there, theres nothing to explore. I have a couple points of interest, but you can see those with the scanner, and there is zero reason to go off the beaten path. In Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Elden Ring, etc. there is a reason for you to be in every inch of those maps. I much rather prefer the traditional open-world gameplay to this, which doesn't feel open world, because you're just going to points of interest and then leaving.
Ngl, when I first saw real gameplay if it wasn't for the HUD I'd have thought I was seeing Destiny 2 gameplay. They really improved the graphics and it looks beautiful!
Thanks, Jonny. I think I will find some of the things that you didn't like fairly tolerable or actually appreciable, like the researching. The only other review I'll watch besides yours before tonight is Matty's, because I trust the two of you. But mostly I'M JUST READY TO FUCKING GOOOOOOO!
I had a bug where dialogue audio stopped working. I repaired the files and that fixed it.
Do i have control of my companions gear?
Great review. Thank you very much.
Hoping for 1440p-80fps with a 6800XT at high-ultra settings. Am I being irrational?
Yes! 😂
Seems to be running 60fps with high settings
Fair criticisms honestly. Now that the game is in players hands it’s rated a 3.75/5 on Xbox own storefront, a 7.5 out of 10 so most players are feeling about the same. I lean more towards an 8/10 but I can definitely understand people even giving it a 7. Hopefully Bethesda can be quick with their updates without leaving everything to modders to fix it for them
so if you remove the Kid Stuff trait mid-playthru does that mean your parents have disowned u?
Great review mate, I was looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
I'm not worried about the Character models... You should see my CBBE and BT3 Characters in Fallout 4. It wont be long before those base models have a mod, with anatomically correct parts.
I think people are overestimating how much of a difference DLSS will make. Especially if you are trying to run the game at 4K, DLSS 2 and FSR 2 are pretty comparable. So you're not going to get more performance or better quality. At lower resolutions like 1080p on budget new gen cards you might get more benefit. But I doubt this will affect the majority of people.
I enjoyed this game much more after a bunch of scotch and valium
intresting, i experienced that no marker bug in FO4 the other day, it was weird and i have no idea why it happened. but yeah, it eventually fixed itself.
Hm. I'm not overly impressed with the graphics, specifically in New Atlantis. The characters look very cartoony. And the environment just feels too sterile. I get it's probably supposed to but it just doesn't feel authentic.
Fallout 3 is my favorite game too.
