    Beautiful K123 purchase. This should be a sweet project to see. Now you all need a drom box and a old Hostess trailer to made a complete setup.

    That original engine had an air starter, thats what the air tank was for under the cab, they added the air connector to the front of the cab so they could air the system up too start it. Thats what the big button in the floor was for, it started the engine. I was going to tell you about long box but you already knew that. I have a pic of a freightliner with the same setup. But it has Dolly Madison decals. I worked for them down in Georgia thats why i know all this.

      O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸Would that little air tank be enough to start a diesel engine? Most air starter trucks I’ve seen had much bigger tanks. I love the old air starter trucks. So, So Cool! I actually didn’t even think of that when they showed it. Good stuff. I’m glad you recognized it. Blessings my friend. 🥰🤩✌️

      That additional air tank under the passenger side is called a captive air tank and used for an emergency brake release, this allows the truck to move off the road when there is a total lost of air. Have the same on my K125.

    O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Does this truck have center point steering as well? What all does the 23 in 123 signify? I’m just not sure. I love the wheelbase…it does look loo…ooong with it being a day cab truck! It is one way cool truck! I didn’t recognize that air tank under the cab as being for an air starter, but it does make sense! Love those air starter trucks! It sure has some strange options on the truck. A very unique truck in many ways & one to be proud of saving. Glad that you got the truck with all the original setup & not just a cab! Blessings! 🥰🤩✌️

    The AMT Peterbilt 352 model kit has the same type of suspension. That 6v92t would be as powerful, if not more so, than the 8v71 it replaced.

    Back in the day, Kenworth subdivided the K-100 and W-900 into model numbers based on rear axle and suspension.
    -121 indicated single rear axle
    -122 was not used
    -123 indicated twin axle, any suspension except KW torsion bar
    -124 indicated heavy duty twin axle, 44,000 lb rear axles
    -125 indicated twin axle, KW torsion bar suspension
    The rear suspension on your K-123 is Kenworth's old air ride, then one they had before their Airglide 100 was introduced.

      122 & 922 were used for single drive axle with a non-powered tag or pusher axle.

      @@captainmorgan1107 Ah, thank you! That makes sense, I always wondered about that. The info I got was from a KW dealership some 40 years ago, they had no information at that time about any K-122 or W-922.

      @@stansdds I gathered that info from a gentleman that worked at the KW plant in Chillicothe Ohio from the late 70's to the mid 90's. I wish he was still alive as I have more questions for him. Also the wheelbase on this K123 looks about the same as one that would have the 108" double sleeper cab.

    What are the 2 "punch clock" looking gauges on the dash?

    • @CLGarage
      @CLGarage  9 месяцев назад

      Those are called a tachograph, as a driver you had a round disk that you would open the front of the tachograph and insert your card. Then it would track your time, speed, and breaks during your shift. Maybe someone that has used one of these back in the day can add their experiences of using them.

    What a weird ass truck….cool but weird. Such a stretch for a day cab. Makes you “wonder” (sorry) if it had a longer box on it originally than the 10ft that was on it previously.

    • @CLGarage
      @CLGarage  9 месяцев назад

      We measured it and found out that it was a 12 foot box in between the cab and 5th wheel and that is the original set up for this truck.
