Great video! I bought a 2013 991.1 Carrera S Cabriolet not only because I loved the way it looks but since it was the last of the naturally aspirated engines and it does not disappoint. It has all the power one would need. I absolutely love this car!

Great video, as a 991.1 owner I have to say you hit the best points and pointed out some of the common flaws, which in this gen are pretty rare. One big one to add is the 3.1 PCM that has been known to have hard drive failures, constant cycling restarting or just plain crapping out entirely. $4k CAD to replace it from Porsche. Besides this, I’ve been very satisfied with the 991.1, it’s a truly amazing car to own and driving it is exhilarating. Anyone thinking about one should just go ahead and do it!

This video should be split into two, the 991.1 and the 991.2. I much prefer my 991.1 GTS with my 7-speed manual. I have driven the 992 S and 4S on the track with a PDK...just not what I would buy as my personal vehicle. 2:39 looks like the Mario Andretti Straightaway at MOSPORT, except I am looking at it through my windshield. 6:46 I've heard about PCCB issues but I have never experienced any in my GTS. They are quiet and operate at any temperature like any other brake system but with no brake dust.
@@HernanSpeed I would never consider a PDK for street use. On the track I can take either, a manual or a PDK. I lucked into my 2015 991.1 GTS. The original owner only put 157 kms or 98 miles on it in the 3Y 1M that he owned it. I snapped it up and basically bought a new car with tons of factory options, with warranty and CPO. Hooked up my Durametric and checked for over-revs (none) and paint thickness to be sure. It was like winning the lottery as I did not want a 991.2.
I know what you mean! 💯💯 The dashboards on the C7 3LT’s were even upgraded in 2009 with better staples to hold the leather in place, but it still happens.. If you ever replace the dashboard, the vinyl ones hold up 1000% better. But…it’s all a small price to pay for have that amazing Corvette engine! 🚀🚀🚀 Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
I have a 991.2 love it- the low down pull makes daily driving awesome. Still revs to 7200 rpm with fireworks top end . I know I know the sound is not as good NA but who cares
Great video! I was looking at a used 991.1 4S manual, I literally found none for months. Obviously because anyone who got one just kept it for himself, outstanding value. So I ended up with 4S .2 manual (which also was very challenging to find) and I am happy even if it's the turbo engine, driven almost daily and zero problems (and a lot of fun)! No regrets (just a bit lol).
Yess! The manuals are the hardest to find, they’re all commanding a huge premium! It’s reported that less than 10% off the Carrera’s where manuals, and less 25% of the GT3’s! 😳 I understand the PDK is great, but the manual is worth searching for! The 991.2 is a BEAST when you up the boost, the engine is more than capable of handling huge amounts of power….the results are shocking! 💥💥 I think you’ve got a great one, no regrets! 🙌 Phileas thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
I owned a 991.1 GTS... Fantastic car, great engine, great performance and styling. I sold the car due to a few reasons... lack of rawness, feels too much like a daily driver. The size compared to the previous svelte 911 cars was enormous, and ultimately, I just couldn't get that driver/machine connection with the car. I immediately bought a 997.2 S after selling the GTS. With that said, these are just my opinions, and ultimately the 991 should not be overlooked either way. Cheers
Yesss, the 997.2’s are incredible! Great choice! 🙌🙌 The great thing about all 911’s is that with a few mods, they all can get some of that chainsaw rawness back!💥👊 Mikesav9 thanks for watching! 🔥
@@jimsc2 No, they're absolutely not the same. I own both. Do you? If you did, you'd understand conclusions from real world experiences instead of from RUclips videos.
Most definitely, specially on the highway! 🙌 💯 But, it also has a dual personality. Most people will never really explore the limits of the 991, a track is needed for that 😎 Joe Lee thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Very helpful but I'm still torn! About to pull the trigger on my first 911 and unsure whether to go for a 991.1 or .2! I know the turbos are going to increase the usability but just HOW much more useable is the .2? And don't disrespect CarPlay!🤣There's a £10k is price difference between the 2 GTS models in the UK so is it worth the extra? The non turbo is more 'pure'? It's such a tough choice!
Go drive both, the turbos on the .2 are immediately noticeable when you first merge into traffic…big difference 🚀🚀 If it’s a PDK, I’d also seriously look at the .2 because the transmission is always up-shifting to the highest gear to save gas…so the extra low end torque is more noticeable. Plus you can easily up the boost for more powaaaa!💥💥🚀 I like the sound of the 0.1 with upgraded exhaust and a manual, it’s not fast…but I’m okay with that. Go drive both, one will stir your heart!👊💥👊 James thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Correct! 💯 It had the 1st versions of the electric steering rack. It’s numb.. But guess what? It’s the same rack that’s found on the GT3 991.1! Those have totally different steering feel! It’s all in the software calibration, and many people are already modifying it to feel closer to the GT3’s! 🙌🙌 Dan Tam thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Absolutely! 👊💯 It’s definitely a daily driver, all year long. Even the manual has a super light clutch and the shifter is smooth….the PDK is even better for the Miami traffic. Find a nice one, you can’t go wrong 🚀✅ Joda thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Soon people will discover how susceptible the 9A1 engine is to bore scoring and the .2’s will be more cherished. My 997.2 was on its 3 motor when I sold it at 66,500 miles. Never again.
When the car is under warranty, Porsche actually prefers to swap out the engine. It’s actually easier/faster than diagnosing potential issues. A separate team of engineers takes them apart to inspect it. This happened a lot with the M96’s/M97’s, it’s less common now.
Compared to most older Porsche’s, this new series of engines are as low maintenance as it gets! Get a solid PPI on any potential car you’re looking at, if all checks out….enjoy! 👊👊
@@HernanSpeed this is exactly what I am looking for a daily driver to enjoy not just a weekend car. I have a Mercedes SL that I already made 40,000 miles on it in 3 years and loved every minute of it. I like to drive and enjoy what I buy because I am not a museum 😂. I love your videos they are great and I learn from them - thank you very much.
They have essentially the same engines, but a massive difference in platforms. The 991.1 Turbo is more of a Grand Tourer VS the 997.2 Turbo. If you’re looking for a weekend toy to have fun, go with the 997. If you need a daily speed missile, go with the 991. Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
Thanks man. Great videos! Yes I am after a daily commute that will always leave a grin 😀 on my face after travelling home-work-home and the weekend drives.
991.1 is great, its reliable and quite comfortable because of the longer wheelbase. However, it feels too modern and too airy as in the interior just does not feel 911 enough. For a daily driver its great, but I sold my 991.1 C2S PDK and went back in to a 997. The nostalgia and feel of a 997 trumps the 991. In addition, make sure you have warranty on these 991.1s, the LSD went on mine and there was a coolant leak all covered under warranty. Also, PDK is quite costly to repair if it goes wrong, that kept playing on my mind once Porsche warranty was finished. Manual if you can but PDK if you have warranty. Also I wishe the sunroof would go in to the roof itself rather than overhang over the roof when opened. The 997 does this and keeps the lines.
Great points! 🙌🙌 I was going to include some of them in this vid…but it got too long. The PDK’s take extreme abuse, but they can be over $18k to replace. Most have been bombproof. I haven’t seen anyone reliably rebuild them, so you must buy directly from Porsche 💵💵 The engine is shared with the 997.2, they have been robust. Enjoy your 997! It’s an incredible car, the size adds to it in a way that numbers don’t tell…fits like a glove! Amir Rao thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Is it worth buying a 991 PDK with over 70k miles? I would get it inspected by Porsche first but just wondering if its worth it with PDK issues mentioned.
All 911’s are seriously cushy after the 964, you daily them all! 💯 But I live in Miami, and parking spaces are small…and always full. So 997 for me …less of a chance of it getting banged up in tight spaces 😅 But if I lived in Texas, I’d be leaning towards to 991. Everything is bigger in Texas, even parking spots 🙌👊
No way, it’s just getting started! 💯💯 Make sure you get a good deal, and have it checked out at a shop before buying (PPI). Also, make sure it’s the spec you really want! 👊👊
Porsches are grossly over rated. they are not worth the money they ask for. it's the same basic shape over and over again for 3 decades. Some of the cars are so darn ordinary I dont even if the people are praising it even know why they are praising it. Example would be GT4. it's the most ordinary car I have owned or driven. No torque at the lower end. The first and second gears are so tall. it's not even fast. It doesnt have an impressive exhaust. GT3RS is another perfect example. is taht car even worth half a million Hell NO !!!
Interesting comment friend. They’re overrated relative to what? You must have some basis of comparison to arrive at this conclusion 💯 Thanks for watching! 🔥🔥

That’s basically a new one! Take good care of it! 👊👊
4:47 yep the leather dash on my C7 3LT Z51 Corvette convertible is looking rough brah
Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
I have a 991.2 love it- the low down pull makes daily driving awesome. Still revs to 7200 rpm with fireworks top end . I know I know the sound is not as good NA but who cares
And it’s so easy to up the boost! Lighter & faster than the actual turbo model, plus it’s rear-wheel! 💥💥💯💯
Al Logan thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Phileas thanks for watching!
🙌🙌 The great thing about all 911’s is that with a few mods, they all can get some of that chainsaw rawness back!💥👊
Mikesav9 thanks for watching! 🔥
Mike did you pay attention to the video about the size comparison between the 997 & 991? There're basically the same.
@@jimsc2 No, they're absolutely not the same. I own both. Do you? If you did, you'd understand conclusions from real world experiences instead of from RUclips videos.
Well done!
Mike thanks for watching! 🔥🔥👊
Nice video!
Thought you once said 991 = 928.2.
Most definitely, specially on the highway! 🙌 💯 But, it also has a dual personality. Most people will never really explore the limits of the 991, a track is needed for that 😎
Joe Lee thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Finally!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Levanoni thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
my dream car till this day.... i will get it someday i hope
You will get it! 💯 Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
Should I buy one? Sure! Just need the inheritance 🤷♂️
Haha! I know what you mean! 💯💯 You save on maintenance though Vs other models 🙌
Plus you can easily up the boost for more powaaaa!💥💥🚀
I like the sound of the 0.1 with upgraded exhaust and a manual, it’s not fast…but I’m okay with that.
Go drive both, one will stir your heart!👊💥👊
James thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Good video. I believe 991.1 started to have non-hydraulic power steering.
Correct! 💯 It had the 1st versions of the electric steering rack. It’s numb.. But guess what? It’s the same rack that’s found on the GT3 991.1! Those have totally different steering feel! It’s all in the software calibration, and many people are already modifying it to feel closer to the GT3’s! 🙌🙌

Hernan Speed ROCKS!
Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
The 991 has a nice design and must drive well. but if I had that money I would buy a 928 GTS😊. Thanks for the vid!
The poster on my wall is a blue 928GTS! 😎⚡️😎

@@HernanSpeed🎉😃
Owned two 991s and much prefer the 997, which is much closer to the old-school feel of a true 911.
Man… I like the 997 more now than when it was new. I see them going into 993/964 territory soon! 🙌🙌

I am hopping to get one, can it be use for a daily driver in the Miami Traffic?
Absolutely! 👊💯 It’s definitely a daily driver, all year long. Even the manual has a super light clutch and the shifter is smooth….the PDK is even better for the Miami traffic. Find a nice one, you can’t go wrong 🚀✅
Joda thanks for watching!
Yes,that's why I went .2 engine tone vs a possible bore score
What about the 3.8cc engine? Is it low maintenance?
Compared to most older Porsche’s, this new series of engines are as low maintenance as it gets! Get a solid PPI on any potential car you’re looking at, if all checks out….enjoy! 👊👊
@@HernanSpeed thanks for the reply. I’m quite worried because I read the 3.8 cc engine very fragile
Where did you read that? Sometimes you’ll have one guy that had a bad experience, then he writes a post scaring others..
@@HernanSpeed by the way is it the same base engine that the porsche using on their gt3 911.1
The engine in the GT3 is completely different, it’s based on a different architecture. So it might be the same size, but it’s a different design
Great common sense video 👌👌👌
Dar Dog 77 thanks for watching! 🔥🔥
Loved the content. Background sounds way too loud.
Thanks for watching brother! 👊👊
I never owned a 911! So would the 997.2 be the right entry for me?
You’ll love it! It’s also a great daily driver, not just for weekends. Thanks for watching!
That’s what I’m talking about! Cars are meant to be driven! 💯💯👊
You need the week old no shave look. For the Miami model look you are so good at
😆 😆😆 Changing it up for next video coming out this week
Thoughts 997.2 turbo vs 991.1 turbo?!?

Haha so true it does fit like a glove. Great video btw and sure I understand, the video can get quite lengthy
Is it worth buying a 991 PDK with over 70k miles? I would get it inspected by Porsche first but just wondering if its worth it with PDK issues mentioned.
@@SilverCenturion74 what year is it?
The question here, for a daily driver, 997 or 991?
All 911’s are seriously cushy after the 964, you daily them all! 💯 But I live in Miami, and parking spaces are small…and always full. So 997 for me …less of a chance of it getting banged up in tight spaces 😅
But if I lived in Texas, I’d be leaning towards to 991. Everything is bigger in Texas, even parking spots 🙌👊
991 all day long!
991.2 Turbo S incoming
🙌🙌
Would you be scared of. 991.1 with 78k miles?
No way, it’s just getting started! 💯💯 Make sure you get a good deal, and have it checked out at a shop before buying (PPI). Also, make sure it’s the spec you really want! 👊👊
Out last the owners? Can't I take it with me~ you mean there's no Porsche911 in Heaven...I don't believe it.

You must have some basis of comparison to arrive at this conclusion 💯
