Steve Perry is one of the greatest rock singers of all time! So much emotion. He never does things the easy way.
LoL!!! Awww, how sweet. You his agent?
And he's of Portuguese origin which my Portuguese wife is always keen to point out !
Mount Rushmore of Rock: Lou Gramm, Steve Perry, Brad Delp, and Brent Smith.
@@pacard33 Mine: Freddie Mercury, Paul Rodgers, Steve Perry, Janis Joplin
Quality music lives forever.
BEAUTIFUL CREATURES "Ride" or "Going off"
Journey's Wheel in the Sky is a great song.
Hello Angela,
how're you doing?

Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!
It's nice meeting you here.
I've always loved the gritty feel to this song, the lyrics are awesome and Steve's delivery makes him one of history's greatest ever vocalists!
Dont sleep on the drummer. One of the best poly-rhythm patterns ever.
There’s a reason these guys have sold so many millions of albums/CD’s etc., Starting in the 70’s when they were a little less commercial, leading up to the later version of the band, they have had an unbelievable ride. Steve Perry on lead vocals here. He brought them to the top of the mountain.
The song “Stone in Love” is also a huge banger. It has the best Guitar solo outro.
This song returned to the charts in 2005 when the Chicago White Sox adopted it as their anthem en route to a World Series Championship! Don’t Stop Believing! ✌️❤️🎶
We had a weekend season ticket plan we shared with a coworker that year. Good times and a heck of a year to get great seats.
Oh, yeah, it was totally that and not the Sopranos!
Now that you have listened to the studio version, you need to see the live version from the 1981 Escape tour ❤❤❤
“ Lights “ is also a wonderful song and Steve Perry hits some incredible high notes .
Hi guys. Retired drummer guy here. Steve Smith was an inspiration of mine when I was young. I got to meet him several times through a guy I used to study with out of Vegas in the 80s. It was such an honor at the time. He's still an incredible drummer.
One of the greats.
Did you hear his work with Steps Ahead? Peter Erskine is on record but Smith is on live recordings
@@redplanet9162 I have not red. I am going to look them up right now if I can find them. Thank you. I can only wish in my career that I was as versatile and could have worked with as many important people as Steve. People don't realize how in demand he was. Amazing
The fact they only said Don't Stop Believing 3 times, but it sticks in your mind forever is incredible.!
"LOVIN TOUCHIN SQUEEZIN" and 2 songs played together "FEELIN THAT WAY/ANYTIME"...!
La and Che- you need to do the live performance of Journey doing “Who’s Crying Now” from their 1981 tour
They were just as good live. They have many great songs. Faithfully is one of my favorites.
Gotta watch them do this live in Houston from 1981. It's so good that I prefer it now to the studio version.
Would love to have been there, wasn't born till 88😅
That's true!! An excellent live version -- great sound on the video and the performance is top-notch.
Shortly after the Sopranos used this song in their final episode... this Journey classic became the most downloaded song on the internet.
I can't hear this song anymore without expecting it to suddenly stop towards the end (as per The Sopranos: Final Episode) rather than slowly fade out like it does.
yeah, that was genius, using this song and then ending it (the series and the song, that is) with "Don't stop"!
This music, this song never gets old....
Please! 🙏🙏🙏 More Journey Live in Houston 1981! Is fantastic!.❤❤❤❤❤
Huge, huge song for the generation born between the late 50s to early 70s. One of those songs where everybody knows the words and will sing along in so many situations
I don't consider myself a fan of Journey, I never seek out their music but dang sometimes when youtube recommends one of their songs I find out that I not only know most of them from hearing them before but as you two said, paying attention to their music I end up taking a bow they really are one of the best ever
Huge connection between Santana and Journey! So many great musicians went through this band!
Peace

Gregg Rolie!!!❤❤❤❤❤
A perfect song.
Enjoy You Guy's Great Chemistry Between you Both.
Journey is the story of my High School years ❤
He sounds great live!
The Voice does it again. As you listen to their catalog, you will hear the consistency of Steve Perry’s voice- live and studio versions. If you get a chance, check out his solo work after leaving Journey- specifically his song ‘Oh Sherrie’. Thanks for the reaction 🙏
You know who else used to be called The Voice? Frank Sinatra at his peak!
Specifically:Anyway, Missing you and Foolish heart.
All successful bands have two things in common no matter the genre. One an incredible lead singer, and two they also have a great band that often colludes to write interesting songs and perform superb music. So terrific lead singer and great band. It takes both to truly rise to the top of a highly competitive market.
Just another example of the best period of rock music- late 70's/early 80's. NOTHING beats that time in music.
The 81 Houston. concert video is everything. Steve Perry sounds better live than on record. ❤
Their favorite finale song for closing a show.
Saw them live 4 times. The most pitch accurate vocalist I’ve ever heard live. At that range…..that’s tough to do.❤️🎥❤️gotta watch Still they ride or Mother Father, live from Houston 81-82….both are phenomenal live.🎶🎶🎶
He's one of 3 that I've seen. The other two are Ann Wilson of Heart and Freddie Mercury of Queen.
@@vernhoke7730 yep- those 2 also upper level greatness.
I was there for that gig... It really was a fantastic experience.
@@m.gideonhoyle409 I saw them in the summer of '82 at the Brendan Byrne arena in East Rutherford, NJ on that tour.
Only Steve and Linda Rondstadt could hit every note perfectly live.
This an Anthem guys...dedicated to we the everyday people...this is so uplifting...How can one not be charged up with an affirmative positive vibe like this! Ty guys for this one!
Love Steve Perry's voice. I saw Journey live in Michigan right after their breakthrough album was released. Fantastic show and I still remember Steve's long black hair and red wrap around shirt and his black spandex pants. He looked and sounded incredible!!
When the crowd was filing into the outdoor park (Freedom Hill), most of us were saying we never heard of Journey but the tickets were cheap and it was a beautiful summer night and most of us just decided to go. After the concert everyone couldn't stop saying what a great show it was. It was a great experience and I still remember it over 40 years later!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Good Morning Y'all
My karaoke go-to song 🎵
Good Morning!!
Best song choice to end a series ever. The tension mixed with this song. If you know, you know. "The Sopranos" final scene - perfection!
The voice ❤
Steve Perry has such range, and is one of the finest singers in rock. People may argue with me, but Journey is not the same without him. This song totally put the band on the map.
Sam Cooke was Steve Perry's main inspiration. You can absolutely hear it on the song.
3 out of 3 great cuts today !
Ahh Mr Perry that voice.... alot of great cuts.... faithfully, wheel in the sky, lovin touching squeezing😂 to name a few.
Cheers

I love the range of music you guys cover and the fact that you appreciate it to the degree you do. It's so rare when so many people are locked into one genre or another. So fresh and original - keep up the great work.
My favorite band and vocalist Thank you! Please please check out Walks Like a Lady live in Osaka

They really were a great band! The vocals by Perry - exceptional, great hooks and melodies, and one of the best guitarists on the planet. I’m a big fan of their first 3 albums which weren’t very successful. But one of the songs that always blew me away was Faithfully. Great ballad but amazing writing and the way the song ends with Perry doing what he does and Neil Schon closing with an incredibly melodic speed solo intertwined with Perry’s vocal’s always blew me away. And I’m a heavier rock and roll blues guy and PROG. Their 1st 3 albums have blues, heavier rock and prog.
Silky smooth vocals 🎙
❤
I played this album over and over again in the early 80's

The bassist is Ross Valory... He often favored that treble-heavy bass sound, and was one of the early adopters of the Steinberger headless bass.
Final scene of sopranos! Literally a rock anthem.
You guys will have fun with Mother-Father live from Houston. Besides Steve Perry's solo work, When You Love A Woman with Journey is nother exampe for "The Voice"... Enjoy yourselves..
Steve Perry is one of the greatest singers of all time. When I listen to him you can hear the influence Sam Cooke had on him. Love it
you should hear this live! It's better than the studio version. Live in Houston 1991
Damn, classic rock FM radio ingrained this song so much so that I didn’t realize I think I know all the lyrics.
..." you're slippin "'.......nice shot !!!!!!!!!!!
I saw Journey with Boston at NJ Meadowlands 1986. I'll never forget it bc I missed the Mets in the world series come back down 4 runs in the 9th inning game six, I would not have missed game 7
This song will always be synonymous with the sopranos ...heavy!
All I can say is "Live in Houston 1981".
That's a concert video of their "Escape" tour of '81-'82.
I saw them in the summer of '82 on that tour.
Y’all are having a great music day!!!
I live in Michigan and I'm sure because of the Detroit reference I have heard this song played at every hockey game I have ever been to. Fantastic song and it always makes me feel happy 😊❤
That's some unique geography reference. "South Detroit" is actually Canada. : )
I still have their greatest hits on *cassette.
The bass is my favorite part of this song.
"NO one can talk to me after..." LOL that's so true tho!
You guys are the best. 👍
I always tell people that you don't hear Steve Perry sing, you feel Steve Perry sing. He's one the best.
Yes...
Journey on Atari takes me back. Loved that game lol, even though most people thought it was terrible
You should do a track for track of Infinity (1977) Steve Perry's debut with Journey and with original singer/keyboardist Gregg Rolie. Gregg was the original singer/keyboardist for Santana and Neil Schon joined for Santana III. They left and founded Journey.
Gotta check out this one live in Houston. Actually everything from that show is incredible.
Great Band that sounded so good with our 100watt speakers and our little equalizer screwed under the glove box 😂. No wonder I can barely here 😂it was all about treble back then. ❤

The best Journey is "Feelin' That Way/Anytime." Studio version is great, so is The Midnight Special live version.
It’s one of the greats for sure!
you guys are awesome
I recently was at a local live gig here in Australia, and the band started to play this, and everyone went off! Young and old- everyone loves it!
Journey "Don't stop believing" Duet by Steve Perry and Arnel Pineda.
The LIVE version is even better. Escape Tour Houston 1981. Most downloaddd track of the 20th century.
You should check this out live in Houston. Steve sounds perfect live. 🇨🇦🖖🏻
...and this (B.T.W.) is THE MOST downloaded song of all time, ever.
Having been a drummer in a Bar/Wedding band, I can tell you. THIS song has been on nearly every wedding playlist since 1983.
Absolute masterpiece. No question. And never gets old. I’m over 60 y.o., and if this song comes on, I still have to stop and listen. Respect.
JOURNEY ESCAPE! It was a pretty good game too. It might be the best "licensed" game ever, since it's usually bad when they put a movie, band or song, in a game.
Wasn't 1 of the things you were running from the "Groping Groupies"? I actually stumbled across the cartridge again a few years ago cleaning.
It's a great poem set to a fantastic arrangement. And the movie never ends, it goes on and on and on and on...
You need to hear how they started, after two former members of Santana decided to start their own band in 1973. Try "Of a Lifetime".
Listen to all their stuff live. Most of these songs are available in concert. And he’s actually better live. Watch the video for “Faithfully”
So many great songs, but one of my favorites when you love a woman
My cover band nightmare is when, between songs, the most beautiful young woman walks towards the stage, I bend over to her and hear her say, "Will you play Journey for me? Please?" Sad to say no.Who can sing that? 😞
Saw them live. Utterly unbelievable. If you want to experience the greatest live rock and roll singer try out the live version of I'll Be Alright Without You. Total command of the audience and Supreme confidence on stage. Steve Perry was unmatched.
That drummer is Steve “Machine Gun” Smith, one of the top 5 drummers still breathing.
some of these guys came from Santana, then it was a 4 piece band, and when they added the vocalist they took off.
Kind of wish you watched the Houston 1981 concert for this song but you can't go wrong with Journey! They were my favorite band growing up. Saw them 5 times live in the 80's...always awesome! You should check out "Wheel in the Sky" & "Lights" next. I like their earlier stuff best. They went a little poppy later on but always great! "Open Arms" (live in Houston" & "Faithfully" (official video" are a couple great ones after they went more mainstream but I still think their earlier stuff is best!

Does this song sound 42 years old? NO WAY!!! It dropped on July 17th 1981. Amazing!!! Also this song was inducted into the Congressional National Recording Registry 2022 which means this song will be on that registry for 1000 years making this song timeless.
Journey is another wonderful band! Thanks guys.

Must see is the LIVE version……..1981 Live in Houston……..Their Escape Tour……..Also same show Open Arms
I saw them 3 weeks earlier in Philly. Unbelievable!
Studio or Live, Steve Perry delivers the same amazing sound and range. His voice is legendary. Very talented musicians too.
This song is so much fun, play it around a group of people and they'll start singing it. Their singer just dropped off the face of the Earth and it's only been in the last couple of years that he's come out of hiding.
I can tell LA is a drummer in his soul, soon as the beat starts his head is keeping time
Judging from your playlist you guys are definitely major Zeppelin, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, SRV, Allman Brothers, Elvis, ZZ Top and Stones fans. As your 61 year old lifelong Texan musician BIGGEST FAN, I truly can’t wait for y’all (putting y’all in there is serious) to react to The Black Crowes. They have lots and lots of commercially successful songs that are great but I want you to start with the song Seeing Things. This is my ultimate request for my favorite RUclips people. Ugly Doug out 😂
These guys perfected the work of Sam Cook…. Awesome work.
That's right you guys open your minds to all music white black brown.the sad thing is not in all cases most white people accept and admit they love black musicians.but me growing up blacks are just now finding out there was great music came from whites.
Like 👍 Number 765.
Written by Steve Perry, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon. JC on piano 🎹. NS on lead guitar 🎸. They wrote ✍ this song fast 🐆 This is the signature song of Journey 👍 Greg Rolie and Neal Schon quit Santana and founded Journey.
JC was in The Babys, which had John Waite as the lead singer. But The Babys broke up in 1980. JC joined Journey as Greg Rolie retired.
I did go far in the Atari video game 🎮 😖
Santana, Journey and I were born in San Francisco 🌉. I grew up with Steve Perry on lead vocals. 👨🎤
Produced by the late Mike Stone, RIP, and Kevin Elson, RIP. They produced Rock Springfield, Aerosmith and other rock legends 🙌
Suggested songs 🎵 1 Journey performs Message of Love 2 Bad English performs Straight to Your Heart 3 The Storm performs I've Got a Lot to Learn about Love
Wasn’t a fan of Journey but the Sopranos turned me onto this song.
you should have played this from there live in Houston Show.
