Unpopular opinion, but this is my favorite project that J Cole has ever put out. There is just something about the hunger for success that he had in this mixtape that just resonates with me so much. This mixtape got me through one of the worst times in my life a couple years ago. I can't wait to see your Dad's reaction to this whole project, especially on Before I'm Gone, Premeditated Murder, and Farewell (my three favorites off of this mixtape).
The music itself is definitely pretty dated in todays terms, but you're right about that hunger. I used to listen to this tape omw home from 8th grade, and I never imagined he would get as big as he has since then
@@BridgingTheGapYT i shoulda toned down the strength of my statement 😂 there are indeed plenty of great instrumentals and melodies on this but I think his beat selection along with his own production getting way better down the line, that's all
Omen is signed to Dreamville. He produces a lot and he's working on his solo album. Elegant Eyes was his first solo project but the sampling wasn't cleared so he couldn't drop it on platforms. It's such a great album.
I lost my dad in 2015. This channel is like therapy for me because it reminds me of the connection music made between me and my old man. I would put him on all the new stuff I liked and he would always give his honest reaction. Miss those times and when I watch you guys and it always brings me joy.
One of my favorite cole projects, can hear the grit and hunger in his voice during that time in his life. Resonated with our generation (25-30 year olds) cause we were in school during that time, and we were heavy on that datpiff mixtape grind.
one of my favorite pieces of art that has ever been made, this shit resonated with me from day 1 and still does now. nothing does that for me but this project did
I remember telling people he would be one of the greatest ever in high school. This tape was a game changer for me where Cole is concerned. Still feel he is very underrated.
Bruh! This is one my favorite projects not only by Jcole but one of my favorite projects ever! Soon as I heard the piano on the intro I got goosebumps. This tape is on GOAT mountain for sure
Thank you, thank you, thank you for introducing your dad to one of the greatest projects in all music. Man this mixtape changed my life. Glad I got to see your dad's first listen of it.
This has to be one of my favorite Cole projects of all time frfr it has been in my playlist forever this mixtape has gotten me through some tough times in life and im happy I got to see him perform some of these songs in concert it was truly an amazing experience
MANNNNN i know i said 4yeo was my #1 aoat but this right here will forever be my favourite PROJECT of all time. How you make a mixtape that long without a single skip is beyond me. 🐐
Wale - more about nothing Chyhi the prince - black history project (1st one) Big Sean - Detroit OR Finally Famous 3 Mick Jenkins - THE WATERS Fabolous - Soul Tape Schoolboy Q- habits and contradictions Lil Wayne - No Ceilings Mac Miller - Faces Frank Ocean - Nostalgia Ultra Domo Genesis & The Alchemist - No Idols 2009-2016 was a PHENOMENAL time for mixtapes that were basically albums
Omen is on Jcoles record label Dreamville he was on coles mixtapes the come up the warmup and Friday night lights then he started implementing more artists on his tapes like Bas Cozz Jid etc. And now Bas has become like one of the main Dreamville artists on his albums nowadays but Cole and Omen are still cool
Oh man My favourite Mixtape J. Cole Friday Night Lights I've been downloaded some songs and I been listening to it every time. Cost Me a Lot, Blow Up, In The Morning, Best Friends and more. That one is a reason i listen to J. Cole for the first time when I was 14 years old since Friday in December 2013.
Y'all need to do some Wale projects! More About Nothing, Attention Deficit, Ambition, Gifted, Album About Nothing, etc. All GREAT and your dad would probably really enjoy it!
35:22 if y'all want to hear some Omen, then y'all PLEASE react yo "Revenge od the Dreamers" and "D-Day: Gangsta Grillz mixtape" "Starting 5" is such a fire track
Omen put out an album called Elephant Eyes in 2015 which I think is a classic, but he was forced to take it down because the samples weren’t cleared. It’s still on YT, SoundCloud and possibly the Dreamville website. I think he’s working on a new album now he just takes a long time because he produces his music as well.
Friday Night Lights is the second greatest mixtape of all time in my opinion only to So Far Gone which changed the game. Cole stated that Drizzy changing the game made him go back and actually add the original tracks that were meant for his first onto the mixtape tracklist. Thank god he did, those are some of my fav!
This art work about Jcole be cut from his basketball team in high school but he didnt give up and he actually made the team hence the name of his albums and mixtapes the come up the warmup and Friday night lights and then his debut project Coleworld the sideline story its amazing how he incorporates real life into his story telling he didnt give up on his dreams and finally made his varsity basketball team and the next project I want to hear is the warmup
The come up and warm up were nice.. but man when he released this I was a junior in high school. Man I tell ya best mixtape ever. Y’all the real MVPs for reacting to this!! ❤
So glad you finally did this project… I remember when you first asked which j cole project you wanted to put him on to first and I was so mad that you didn’t pick this!
Still play this mixtape till this day! I think to keep it with artists who had to make their own beats in order to make it, we should definitely react/listen to Krit Wuz Here by Big Krit!
I was grateful for the artwork debris of my neighbor....he used to draw me things....I think he enjoyed more the gift of giving....well...one man's trash is another man's treasure. One man's pain is another man's pleasure.
BROOO, NOBODY EVER REACTS TO THIS MF TAPE 😭🫶🏼 my boy Rod jr know wtf goin on 🙏🏼
YKTV 🔥
A few people have reacted to this mixtape like Vibe Villa shot out to Vibe Villa another dope youtube reaction channel

There’s a few songs that sound dated (blow up comes to mind) but for the most part the production is pretty timeless imo
@@BridgingTheGapYT i shoulda toned down the strength of my statement 😂 there are indeed plenty of great instrumentals and melodies on this but I think his beat selection along with his own production getting way better down the line, that's all
@@JaiOfficial2795 agreed 🤝🏾
I don’t think it’s unpopular opinion. Most who have heard both Friday Night Lights and The Warm Up will call it his best work!
Omen is signed to Dreamville. He produces a lot and he's working on his solo album. Elegant Eyes was his first solo project but the sampling wasn't cleared so he couldn't drop it on platforms. It's such a great album.
A hidden gem Elephant Eyes. Those who heard it when it dropped are in tune
@@DavidRojasJr it's a gem 💎 for sure. I hope Dreamville is able to one day get it cleared just for the sake of it.
Cozz, signed to Dreamville as well, hops on label compilations noticably.
I lost my dad in 2015. This channel is like therapy for me because it reminds me of the connection music made between me and my old man. I would put him on all the new stuff I liked and he would always give his honest reaction. Miss those times and when I watch you guys and it always brings me joy.
Omen is still in it with J Cole. He's in Dreamville and they still be making tracks together!
Was coming here to say this! He's signed as an artist and in house producer for Dreamville
One of my favorite cole projects, can hear the grit and hunger in his voice during that time in his life. Resonated with our generation (25-30 year olds) cause we were in school during that time, and we were heavy on that datpiff mixtape grind.
one of my favorite pieces of art that has ever been made, this shit resonated with me from day 1 and still does now. nothing does that for me but this project did
if they dont know your dreams then they cant shoot em down
I think pops would really like the warm up too. Maybe even better.
I'll never forget how badly people slept on Cole. Shit used to get me tight especially after this dropped. Like yo, DO Y'ALL HEAR THIS?!!
Sounds like me desperately trying to convince my friends back in high school that J Cole is the upper coming one of the greatest
before he was bummy and scared to compete...
npc boomer@@mikem4481
I remember telling people he would be one of the greatest ever in high school. This tape was a game changer for me where Cole is concerned. Still feel he is very underrated.
J. Cole was so raw when this dropped. I still am a huge fan but when I first heard FNL and the warm up.. niggas couldn’t tell me anything
Thank you for reacting to these masterpieces that no one else does!!
This mixtape in highschool was gold to me 🥇
MANNNNN i know i said 4yeo was my #1 aoat but this right here will forever be my favourite PROJECT of all time. How you make a mixtape that long without a single skip is beyond me. 🐐
Wale - more about nothing
Chyhi the prince - black history project (1st one)
Big Sean - Detroit OR Finally Famous 3
Mick Jenkins - THE WATERS
Fabolous - Soul Tape
Schoolboy Q- habits and contradictions
Lil Wayne - No Ceilings
Mac Miller - Faces
Frank Ocean - Nostalgia Ultra
Domo Genesis & The Alchemist - No Idols
2009-2016 was a PHENOMENAL time for mixtapes that were basically albums
Still to this day my 2nd favorite Cole project after FHD. The nostalgia, the vibes, the melodies, everything just phenomenal but raw in a good way.
This should have been his debut album. This is classic material
This mixtape is incredibly underrated. Idk why but it just hits different and brings me back to my teenage days. good reaction y’all
My favorite j cole mixtape! Can’t wait!
2010 the year of the best mixtapes… Cole, Wale, Big Sean…
Omen is on Jcoles record label Dreamville he was on coles mixtapes the come up the warmup and Friday night lights then he started implementing more artists on his tapes like Bas Cozz Jid etc. And now Bas has become like one of the main Dreamville artists on his albums nowadays but Cole and Omen are still cool
Still my favorite J Cole project to this day. Know every word to every song. Thanks for reacting to this

Omen is on Got Me, Caged Bird, 48 Laws, Sleep Deprived which is from the albums Revenge of the Dreamers, Dreamville, and Revenge of the Dreamers III.
Ye him and Cole are still good
YESSSIR!!! One of my favorites, can’t wait to see more j cole
The ride from the intro into Too deep for the intro gives me chills every time.
Oh helllllllll to the yessir! We’ve been needing the entire coke journey, his growth is crazy when reflecting back to this
Cole* too excited when I typed it
Your blessed to have your dad to be able to do this
Friday Night Lights is the second greatest mixtape of all time in my opinion only to So Far Gone which changed the game. Cole stated that Drizzy changing the game made him go back and actually add the original tracks that were meant for his first onto the mixtape tracklist. Thank god he did, those are some of my fav!
Omen is signed to dreamville. He’s sprinkled in random songs especially the revenge of the dreamers albums

Right when the too deep beat dropped he knew it was instant 🔥
“You see world, you no good”
damn dad fucks with cole that much that yall had to do a deep cut 😮
J. Cole is the Kanye West that we miss “old Kanye” the sound of his production to go with his rapping.. early Kanye before he wanted to be a superstar
🤖
I remember playing this everyday in high school and when I would tell people who it was all they would ask was “Who’s J Cole?”
Yall gotta do the Warm up as well
If you guys rock with this, check out his Any Given Sunday mixtapes and Truly Yours 1 & 2 you won't be disappointed.
Greatest mixtape of all time 😊
Shout out to your pops bruh you can tell he really tries to soak the music in and gives it his all with his critique.
