I’m now retired and surviving cancer. I have a new 3 bedroom senior apt and turned one bdrm into my art room. Right now the struggle is to unbox and kit out all the shelves with my supplies. I like to do miniature pen and ink drawings and watercolor as well as papier-mâché animals and eggeury (turning real eggs into Fabergè-like treasures). I’m excited. I’ve never been to art school but here in Minnetonka Minnesota we have great art facilities. I’d like to take classes in figure drawing, pastels and bronze sculpture. Time is a thief. 🥰

      I'm a superrealist oil painter.
I just wanted to tell you the satisfaction you get from art is unmatched, it literally is therapeutic.
I still get a thrill in drawing straight lines and circles.
Those simple shapes keep you grounded.
Keep doing what you do sir, you won't regret it.
      Take good care now. ❤👍

i'm on my own course, with a lump hammer , some brick chisels and random tools. I'm really rubbish but I enjoy it immensely, making bronze age rock art, small temples and heads from bits of stone and wood I find, aswell as small things out of lapis lazuli and malachite. What a life for these people, who have the skill, the backing and the ability to learn and experiment under expert tutelidge. Chapeau !

So passionate that tears ran down my face, seeing this video.

Wish I had known of this school. Disappointed with the college I went to ( purposely for sculpture ) I walked away bored and disappointed. In the past several years I've started getting back with carving wood. Seeing the students being guided with selective challenges from the school, beautiful ! So much of the old world truly have a mentor / student relationship that is lacking here in the states. Thanks for a great video 🏆

If I had known about this course I would have jumped at the opportunity to enroll. Thanks for producing this video, for personal reasons it is one of the most thought provoking videos I have ever viewed on RUclips. Here’s to another 100 yrs.

My sculpture training was pretty crappy, this is how it should be done. Note also the emphasis on draftsmanship, it's the foundation of all visual arts and an extra bonus for sculptors is that theire drawings skills tend to be imnproved by sculpting

It’s so interesting to see how almost all of the students are “mature students”. You can certainly see how engaged and passionate they are - a far cry from many of the younger students who will not possibly pursue their craft. I may go back to school myself…

It's great to see tomorrow's artisans devoting their time and talents to this age-old profession. Especially now, with AI Art, CNC technology, and computer design with enhanced cutting and polishing capabilities. The only benefit of such is time-reducing qualities. Yet, the process of man-made feats to accomplish the desired effect is surrendered in that endeavor. I don't think I'm alone here, but, an artist's ability to use his mind and manual dexterity to produce fine detail and excellence is a matter I personally don't appreciate from other sources. The only question is: How much work is available in the market that requires the human touch exists for the number of new talent artists today to strive for? But I agree, such work is not work, but an expression of love and commitment to produce the final product to prove its value to all people who appreciate it!

I think it's kind of sad that everything seems to be based on religion or historical upper classes. Every medium has some kind of relationship with religion and the upper classes. Early musical history in records going back to religious chanting (obviously there is folk music but of stuff on record, the oldest formal stuff is all from the church). Old pottery has depictions of greek gods. Old paintings are often of nobility or depicting relgious events. But these days music and fine art is more reflective of the modern world. Apart from this carving work. Sad.
