When Robert went to his lady friend "for permission", he never actually asked for it, he just wanted to explain his reasoning, and hopefully get her blessing, which she gave, followed by, "Don't forget to say goodbye." I love how they did that process.
Although Man on Fire was 4 years before the Taken franchise. In fact while Denzel was performing proctology exams under the freeway, Neeson was playing a sexologist in a biopic. But I'll give it Neeson with Darkman.
If you want to watch great Denzel movies please watch "The book of Eli" and "Man on Fire"! The Equalizer was a TV series from the late 80's about a former Intelligence Agent (Edward Woodward)that resorted to violence only when absolutly necessery to help people in need. I love Denzels portrayal of Robert McCall.
Robert McCall is a former highly trained Defense Intelligence Agency Operative and former Marine who faked his death to get out of the game after his wife died.
@@corbinbowden38 Yeah, I don't think it was ever mentioned explicitly, but since he said he promised "someone" to never be that person again, it's very likely he quit his job before she died.
Yes, the Boston PD detective is played by David Harbour. He also played the Soviet supersoldier Red Guardian in the 2021 Marvel movie "Black Widow", the title role on the 2019 reboot of "Hellboy", and one of the CIA agents in the 2008 James Bond "Quantum of Solace"
Hi Camilla! If you liked Equalizer you could take a look at the movie Nobody. Another movie about a person wich is more than it looks like on the first glance and with Bob Odenkirk at his best!
I would say Nobody is a more humorous version. I really like both movies, but i laughed way more watching Nobody. (One of my favorite things is Christopher Loyds part in the elderly peoples home)
Watched this movie several times and I just got why he gets involved. He feels responsible for encouraging her to change her life which gets her put in the hospital.
For some very good similar movies about a man righting a wrong: "Man On Fire" (2004 remake) Denzel Washington, Dakota fanning "Payback" (1999) Mel Gibson, Lucy Liu "The November Man" (2014) Pierce Brosnan "Parker" (2013) Jason Statham, Jennifer Lopez, Michael Chiklis "The Replacement Killers" (1998) Chow Yun Fat, Mira Sorvino, Danny Trejo, Michael Rooker "The Italian Job" (2003 remake) Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron, Donald Sutherland, Jason Statham, Seth Green, Mos Def, Edward Norton "Desperado" (1995) Antonio Banderas, Salma hayek, Steve Buscemi, Quentin Tarentino, Danny Trejo "The Mask of Zorro" (1998) Anthony Hopkins, Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta Jones "The Count of Monte Cristo" (2002) Jim Caviziel "Out Of Sight" (1998) George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Ving Rhames
Kami Denzel Washington as Robert McCall is retired covert operative from CIA works as a clerk for Home Depot, calm job different from his past. But girl (Chloe Moretz) hurt by her Russian handler prompted McCall to get with Russian Mob. This movie is loosely based on America's CBS' The Equalizer with Edward Woodward as Robert McCall. Recently, CBS rebooted the series with Rapper/Actress, Queen Latifah as Robyn McCall.
The best of Denzel Washington' movies: "The Equalizer" is the only one of his movies for which he did a sequel, let alone two, which tells you that he really likes this character "The Equalizer 2" (2018) Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal "The Equalizer 3" (fall 2023) Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning "Man On Fire" (2004 remake) Denzel Washington, Dakota Fanning "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" (2009 remake) Denzel Washington, John Travolta, James Gandolfini "Fallen" (1998) "Glory" (1989) Denzel Washington, Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman, Andre Braugher "The Pelican Brief" (1993) legal drama, based on a book by John Grisham
i like movies like this,it sets an example be there for someone who needs it give them an encouraging word and if you feel like help them solve some of there problems, where not all special opps badasses but we can all do something, stand for something better then degenerecy.
Clint Eastwood has made films with this story twice: PALE RIDER and HIGH PLAINS DRIFT - the "Who are you?!!" echoes. HIGH NOON with Gary Cooper had a similar end-of-film sets of killings, too, although no one was bellowing "Who are you?" since everyone knew Gary Cooper!!
The keys to the movie are the three books Robert reads. When he is sitting with the woman on the porch, to ask permission, he said he did it because he could. She told him it's who he is, and that he should be that person... "the old man has to be the old man, the fish has to be the fish. You have to be who you are in this world". What he is, is "a knight in shining armor, in a world where they no longer exist". At the end of the movie he is anonymously offering to help people in need, and he is reading The Invisible Man. Also, two little side notes; In the first killing sequence, he opens and closes the door multiple times to mask the sound of him locking the door, it maintains his element of surprise. When the music comes on the PA system at the Homemart, Robert is letting the workers know he is here. At the beginning of the movie, he said he used to be a Pip... the song playing on the PA was by Gladys Knight and the Pips.
On your first side note - he open and closes the door multiple times because he's obsessive-compulsive/OCD. That's why he arranges his napkins, moves his silverware to the side, turn the spoon upside down in the diner - it's part of his ritual. It's why he was re-arranging the skulls on the desk. Plus you could still clearly hear when he locked the door, and that made absolutely no difference on them trying to kill him or not.
@@AndyMatts44 Actually not. He didn't open and close the door repeatedly at the diner, at work, his home, or at Ralph's mom's restaurant. If he were OCD like that, he would have done it at all of those places. He is very meticulous, but that does not mean OCD. If he would have just walked to the door and locked it, everyone in the room would have been aware that he was going to do something. The way he did it, they would have had to pay close attention from the start, and realize there was one extra click.
He was some kind of spook in his past life. The woman in the big house was a former colleague/superior in whatever agency it was. He was also OCD, hence the neatness and the ritual with closing the door three times and etc.
Just an FYI, I'm not sure what the line is for standards is, that you have to walk, but I've seen other reaction videos where they showed pretty much all of that "dance." I think no subtitles for the Spanish because we've already seen he knows Russian, so that was just to demonstrate his knowledge of another language, comfortably. It was clearly an introduction and friendly greeting, so I don't think the specific words were that important. And how perfect was them NOT showing what he did to the robber with the sledgehammer? As you said, your mind already went there, they didn't need to. That's some good filmmaking.
Highly underrated movie. It came out the same year as John Wick which was a surprise hit and has more notoriety today but this is almost as good. I’ve often wondered who would win if John Wick and Robert McCall came up against the other. I think I’ve settled on it being John Wick but it would be a good fight.
If you want to see more Chole Grace Moretz, she's in Let Me In, the American remake of the Swedish horror film Let The Right One In . Might be a good choice for Spooktober.
32:10 The music that starts is a song by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Earlier Robert jokingly tells the people at work that he was a "Pip." That's what he was referring to, lol. I don't know why that's in the movie because few people under 50 or 60 would "get it."
He didn't break his promises. What he did before, he did because it was his job, what he was told to do. Now he does it, for himself, to help people, to right, wrongs. This actually was a TV show in the 80s...well 2 of them. Stingray, and The Equalizer.
This was good. Dasha speaks Russian and she reacted to this; slightly better but this is good. I was late to watch it; I waited until the 2nd one came out. I loved the original with Edward Woodward so I had low expectations.
Glad you enjoyed this movie and thank you for reacting to it. I am quite impressed with the amount of languages you seem to understand, being from The Netherlands myself I can only manage Dutch and English. When you mentioned that they do not have subtitles for some of the foreign languages that are spoken in the movie I totally agree that it is a shame that they are missing and I have seen that happen more and more often over the years. The thing that is weird to me is that I have DVD's of older movies that have subtitles for different languages on them and are complete, but when I have tried to watch the same movies on a streaming service they are not included. Anyway, thanks again and hope you keep enjoying making content for your channel!
You have to watch man on fire if you haven't already. So worth it, Denzel and Dakota Fanning how can you go wrong. And one of Dakota Fanning's best early films as well.
The song that comes on during the hostage scene in the store is Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Small but nice touch. Also intended or not, I got real Friday the 13th slasher movie vibes from the store kills.
Loving your reactions, the equaliser is by far one of Denzel’s best action movies. Because we don’t have long before Halloween comes around, could you please react to Dog Soldiers (2002)? If you enjoy werewolf flicks, you’ll like Dog Soldiers. 😁
This is a great action film. He delivers justice and peace for the people when nobody else could help them. Denzel's character Robert is a former DIA agent. DIA is Defense Intelligence Agency, an agency whose missions are similar to those of the CIA but focuses on different targets.
I know you will enjoy watching 'My Cousin Vinny' and everyone else will enjoy it with you. I hope you haven't seen it. A film that would be hard to improve upon. Not violent, not explicit but engaging with good actors especially Melissa Tomei, who, despite her appalling accent (in this film) is delightful.
He said jokingly that he was a Pip. Notice later when he goes to rescue Ralpky at the Home Depot the song playing in the background is Midnight Train To Georgia by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Nice touch.
You are so adorable. I really enjoyed watching your video. I love how you translated the different languages, bc us Americans only know English. Very well done and your commentary is entertaining. And again you are so pretty
I cant recall if you watched The Mandalorian or not, so i wont go into detail. The Giy with the mustache in the warehouse played 2 characters in the Mandalorian. One, the first scene in the first episode and another main-ish character thru out.
I was an extra in the Russian Restaurant scene. This is a movie based upon a TV series from the early 80’s called The Equalizer. Nice reaction and review
I'm surprised you didn't recognize the main bad guy in this movie. He was in The Hobbit trilogy - he was the main elf. He may have been Legolas' father, I'm not sure.
I'm not surprised, and while you are quite close you are not really correct. I am a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and the Equalizer was the first blueray i bought, and yet i did not notice that the bad guy in this movie played Celeborn in the Lord of the Rings movies. He has no appearance in the Hobbit trilogy to my knowledge (and according to imdb) and his appearances in the first and last LOTR movies are rather short. So further reasons i am not surprised to not have noticed it and her not noticing it. Celeborn is not Legolas father and is not "the main Elf" in either of the movies. The elven king in the Hobbit trilogy (Thranduil, played be Lee Pace) is Legolas father. Still impressive that you noticed bad guy here being in the LOTR film world.
He was CIA Ground Branch. Basically like special forces but instead of working for any specific branch of the military they work for the CIA. That woman he visited was basically his boss in the CIA. Movies would usually throw you some clues to this, I forgot what this movie said, but things like saying simply "The Agency" usually refers to the CIA. Or if someone simply refers to "Langley" that is where the headquarters of the CIA is.
Man on Fire , is another great Denzel movie Might be even better then this one, it has a lot more on the emotional side. And Denzel like always just plays an excellent character
There was an Equalizer tv show when I was a kid where the character Robert was a retired CIA agent played by a British actor. Both are good in their own way, but I think I prefer Denzel in the role.
My favorite exchange in the movie:
Ralphie: Mr. McCall, what did you do to your hand.
Robert: I hit it on something stupid.
When Robert went to his lady friend "for permission", he never actually asked for it, he just wanted to explain his reasoning, and hopefully get her blessing, which she gave, followed by, "Don't forget to say goodbye."
I love how they did that process.
"he didn't ask for help He ask for permision " is one of the greatest line in cinema
If you like Denzel Washington, you've got to see "Man on Fire"! 🔥❤
Book of Eli is pretty good too!
Why should Liam Neeson have all the fun? Denzel is fun as a vigilante killing machine.
Liam Neeson in an interview said he was obsessed with Denzel in the Equalizer movies
Although Man on Fire was 4 years before the Taken franchise. In fact while Denzel was performing proctology exams under the freeway, Neeson was playing a sexologist in a biopic.

Yip & music in series was excellent. Had the intro on my ringtone for years .
Great movie!! 😁 I worked at a Home Depot for 4 years, and you cant help but day dream how you'd Home Alone a defense of your store! :D
they had navy seals come in to help with the fight scenes and they said the home depot was like being a kid in a candy store
The best store around for the Zombie Apocalypse! Lol!
Have you seen "Nobody"? It does it quite well also.

Equalizer 2 is just as good and there is an Equalizer 3 in theaters now.

Edward Woodward played the Equalizer back in the 1980s.
The bad guys always underestimated him.
What usually followed was a world-class beating.
Denzel is so smooth; & kicks serious a## in the Equalizer movies!
Btw, subtitles were set to English, so only that language showed below maybe?
"With a corkscrew?" without visual context is hilarious! 😀
She's so adorable and she doesn't blab throughout the entire movie.
But blocked the good parts 😅
By the other comments you can see one of his best movies is " Man on Fire" . I just thought it was funny when you said " This guy is on fire"
I love this film! Some really imaginative storytelling and violence that is extremely severe, but strangely quite enjoyable. Great reaction Kamilla

Also, Denzel Washington in "Man on Fire."
Centine, You made me laugh with your expressions. In dark times you brought a smile to my face. Thank you.!
You definitely gotta watch The Equalizer 2

Please consider watching _Man on Fire_ with Denzel and a very young Dakota Fanning. Very similar but a more emotional punch.
“Fallen” is another great movie with Denzel, more mystical. with John Goodman, Donald Sutherland and James Gandolfini
It also has very good music score :)
"Vengeance" is such a bad-ass track. It was just perfect for the finale.
He said jokingly that he was a Pip. Notice later when he goes to rescue Ralpky at the Home Depot the song playing in the background is Midnight Train To Georgia by Gladys Knight and the Pips. Nice touch.
The scenes are on RUclips so you could show them.

Moretz played a vampire in a remake of a Scandinavian film. But I can't remember the name. Chloe's vampire was filmed partly in my hometown.
So glad you watched this Denzel Washington is a great actor and action star as well the 3rd one comes out soon.
Like Training Day and Glory, Academy Award winning performances when that award actually meant something.
I was an extra in the Russian Restaurant scene. This is a movie based upon a TV series from the early 80’s called The Equalizer. Nice reaction and review
The plushie you got for this movie was classic. I love this movie. Man on Fire and this are ugh!
You face and hand gestures are the sweetest thing ever hehe
Seeing how you thought Denzel was on fire, then you should watch Man on Fire

If you liked this movie - you'd love violent night, it stars David Harbor as Santa Clause...really good film!
Centane, this was a TV series about a retired CIA field guy who is trying to help people to pay for his past sins. That's the back story
This was originally a TV show with an Englishman as the lead. I think it was back in the 90s.
The song playing over the PA just before the big fight at the Home Depot was a song by Gladys Knight & The Pips. 🙂
I saw Equalizer 1 and 2 in theaters loved both of them and im so happy you loved this movie
If you like this one, you'll probably like Man on Fire with Denzel.
My first time watching your channel. I found your reactions interesting enough to subscribe. Thank you.
This film is sponsorised by Black & Decker
A movie you might not have seen is a 2010 superhero movie called "super" starring Rainn Wilson.
I loved it.

2nd movie reaction I've watched of yours, you do a great job, good mature girl, and keeping the review time no more than 45 minutes is great.
There is Equalizer 2 and 3 that are definitely worth watching.
Hey this is one of my favourite movies so glad you enjoyed it
Man on Fire , is another great Denzel movie
Might be even better then this one, it has a lot more on the emotional side. And Denzel like always just plays an excellent character
Next up: Equalizer 2.
The sequel is even better then you'll be ready to see the release of E3 next month!
There was an Equalizer tv show when I was a kid where the character Robert was a retired CIA agent played by a British actor. Both are good in their own way, but I think I prefer Denzel in the role.
robert no is assassin.he was from special forces.thanks for the react :)
Please see the sequel! It’s even better than this one, IMO! The third is on its way!
