Crazy how all of these are Satoshi Kon. He wrote the script for Magnetic Rose and partially for Jin Roh. He also did some work for Akira, absolute genius.
I took up re-watching Magnetic Rose, right after this clip, trying to take a break from the news and stuff. And sure enough, there it was: in the first minute, space station Corona. It's everywhere, I swear...

I saw that clip here in YT, but with the "bonk" sfx. I laughed so hard 😂. I thought that was the real sound in the anime.

Whole-heartedly agree. And Hajime Mizoguchi's amazing and tragic score.
Satoshi Kon was an Genius.
He deserves an Oscar for each of his works.
Lowkey ken might be the best guest they’ve had on the podcast
Magnetic Rose is more than just "Akira in space", it's closer to a Satoshi Kon film, with some styles and locals from an Otomo film.

Ofc it's Ex-Arm the greatest anime of all time
Every Frame a Painting had a similar view with Kon: some of his animation/editing works because it's in animation.
bros is Magnetic Rose, Memories? im trying to find these films to watch but i dont wanna miss out
(Katsuhiro Otomo's) Memories (1995) is the film, comprised of 3 shorts. In order: Magnetic Rose, Stink Bomb, & Cannon Fodder

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. It's written by Mamoru Oshii so be prepared for big think.
Jin-Roh, it's a Production I.G film from 99, I think it was based on a Manga by Mamoru Oshii.
Millennium Actress needs more attention
