    Hello! I just wanted to say thank you for such a thorough review and discussion on printing. I'm buying my first colour printer in a decade and didn't know where to begin - I had so many questions but nowhere to ask them. I found the IX6850 when looking for large size cardstock printers and stumbled on this video and it answered so much! The color quality and inconsistencies were a huge reason I switched to getting my own printer as well. I have that same exact printer it’s great and does a great job at printing crisp and fine detail, but it sucks up ink bad! I’m going to look into that website you provided too, I’ve been looking for alternatives! Canon is great quality, but their inks are a damn scam.
    I also had a lot of wasted paper trying to figure out settings and I’ve noticed it’s way worse with matte paper! When I use gloss or even semi gloss printing straight as rgb works fine, but matte seems to dull everything, but it’s sturdier and I use it for bookmarks and cards.

    • @aPenasIllustrator
      @aPenasIllustrator  Год назад +1

      I always felt like the canon inks ran out WAAAAAAY faster than these ones! So not only they are more expensive but maybe have less ink? 😂
      Yeah, matte paper sucks way more ink than glossy, since the ink stays on top of the paper, doesn’t have texture. Maybe try a less textured paper or some photo matte paper? I noticed a bit difference on my prints :)
      Hope this helps 💛

    I just bought an Epson Ecotank and was very excited about it but the ink bleeds and I have lost so many pages to ink splotches. Your canon is still available to buy in the UK so I might consider selling my ecotank and getting this. Also, A3 printing! 😮 amazing. I also didn’t know you could play with the colours prior to printing. Is this a Canon thing?

    • @aPenasIllustrator
      @aPenasIllustrator  Год назад

      I’m so sorry about that :( Maybe it’s a faulty one! But a 200-300€ ecotank won’t have a lot to play around.
      The better the printer, the more you can play around with the settings. I don’t think it’s a canon thing, it’s really if it’s a better printer or not :)
      Good luck!! 😍

    @aPenasIllustrator Hi, thank you for this video, well explained, however there is something I don’t see discussed amongst crafters; does inkjet printers ink spread and get ruined if touched with a wet hand? How do sellers get away printing stationery, stickers etc without the fear of people complaining that they purchases got ruined if they happen to get wet? Or are inkjet inks waterproof? This is one reason I feel more inclined to a laser printer, but I find inkjet inks blend colours better.... so I’m in a bit of a dilemma here with which to go for 😩

    I hate the printing part hehe. It's mostly due to how the different types of paper work and finding the right setting for each one. I wish there weren't so many types of paper 😅.
    I definitely have lots of settings to play with on my eco tank but it is one of the more expensive ones from the photo range, I think the cheaper ones are more of a 'home office' range. But we have saved so much money on the ink as it lasts so long.

    • @aPenasIllustrator
      @aPenasIllustrator  Год назад +1

If I fiddle with the settings I can make it borderless but then it makes the print larger than the actual page and cuts part of it off. Also the ink runs out so fast. @aPenasIllustrator thank you for your kind reply :) I could not find this printer in Australia and I saw a blog saying that ix6850 is Europe version of ix 6820. Do you, by any chance, know if this is true? We have ix 6820 here but not ix6850. So sorry to bother you! I am very desperate.
